Celebrating 18 Years of Phoenix Bride & Groom!
categories: cakes and sweets, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, from the consultants, photography, reception ideas, rehearsal dinner spots, Wedding Inspiration, what's hot in rentals

Our 18th anniversary party was a night to remember…the most beloved wedding vendors in Arizona attended, we cheered/cried/danced, and the decor, venue and food was everything we could have hoped for and more. We consider ourselves beyond lucky to have been able to celebrate 18 years of producing Arizona’s premier wedding magazine surrounded by such love and beauty and we’re thrilled to share the event’s design details and people who are a part of this fantastic community with you.

First things first, our host venue was the brand new, super chic Mountain Shadows and we can’t say enough good things about this place! The staff is wonderful to work with, the views are absolutely spectacular, the food is delicious, and the venue’s design is so perfect for weddings that we just can’t wait to see all the events that are sure to take place here.

The party began outdoors on the Paradise Terrace which offers incredible views of Camelback Mountain and we fell in love with the design of the space and the decor. The floral arrangements designed by Your Event Florist were bright, cheery, and elegant—the gold painted succulents were one of our favorite details from the event. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the beautiful linens, the weather was absolute perfection, and the displays of some of our favorite covers with commentary by our team about each were a hit! Jennifer Thye of Imoni Events and her team graciously planned the event for us and we can’t thank them enough for their attention to detail and creative input. They are a stellar group of ladies who we just adore!

The party moved into the Paradise Ballroom for speeches, entertainment, dinner, and dancing. You HAVE to see this space in person—the retracting glass walls make for an impressive entrance and the interior of the ballroom is classically neutral. There are beautiful lights hanging overhead and there’s plenty of space to celebrate. Cocktail tables, lounge furniture, food stations, a stage set with an oversized floral hoop (designed by Brady’s Floral Gallery), and a dance floor made our anniversary party gorgeous.

Event rentals were provided by Classic Party Rentals—a company we have worked with many times over the years—and they always impress us with their product quality and generosity. The ballroom floral designs were created by Butterfly Petals (all tables) and Brady’s Floral Gallery (hoop and food stations). Both floral firms are known for their willingness to stand out a bit from the crowd and create unique floral decor; Butterfly Petals’ concrete pots and metal vases added a city chic vibe while soft greens and shades of pink popped against the white and neutral rentals and linens. Four different linens from Wildflower Linens dressed the tables beautifully for our party and we can’t recommend them enough—their design and innovation is always on point.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by Applause Entertainment; cocktail hour music kicked things off then a live band played later on in the evening which enhanced the festive mood.

Of course there was food too…we enjoyed delicious appetizers from Heidi’s Events and Catering plus several food stations set up by Mountain Shadows. Dessert consisted of a large table set with pretty and delicious bites compliments of Piece of Cake Desserts, PJ’s Cakes, and Bedazzle my Bonbons.

The evening brought out the best of the best in the Arizona wedding industry and we’re grateful to all who attended. We’re also so incredibly proud to have worked with our publisher, Fran Samuel, to create a magazine for the past 18 years as legendary as Phoenix Bride & Groom. She gave the most heartfelt speech (her grandson provided moral support on the stage) and a video was created by Something New Media Weddings that included messages from industry professionals to commemorate all the work she’s done for the wedding community in Arizona. To hear the shared gratitude, admiration, and love we all have for this very special individual was emotional to say the least! We also presented Fran with a mini version of a gift that has all the covers of Phoenix Bride & Groom magazine from the past 18 years. We’re pretty sure she loves it!

Of course, then we got to the partying! There was some networking, lots of music and dancing, and even a photo booth!

So there you have it! Our 18th Anniversary party was an evening of fun and celebration, exactly as we hoped it would be! It’s been an honor to work within the wedding industry in Arizona for 18 years and to work with the couples who wed in Arizona that have allowed us to share their special days!

champagne and pink wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom magazine_Arizona wedding_Ben and Kelly photography_The Phoenician

Chrissy and Paul’s champagne and pink wedding in Arizona began with a dream—as a little girl, Chrissy saw a wedding being set up at The Phoenician and she vowed then and there it would be her wedding venue. This isn’t as uncommon as you might think! One thing about The Phoenician that we hear consistently from couples who chose to wed there is that there is a strong feeling of nostalgia surrounding the property. We love that Chrissy was able to return to the place she always dreamed of for her wedding and you’ll love everything about it!

Champagne and Pink wedding in Arizona: The ceremony took place at The Phoenician’s Orchid Lawn which offers a lush green backdrop and a fountain; peonies, roses, ranunculus and hydrangeas were used in the floral designs. champagne and pink wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom magazine_Arizona wedding_Ben and Kelly photography_The Phoenician

Champagne and Pink wedding in Arizona: The Phoenician offers several ballrooms for wedding receptions which can accommodate up to 200+ guests; Chrissy and Paul’s decor was a beautiful combination of ivory, champagne and pink with gold accents. The up-lighting provided a feeling of intimacy which is helpful when you have such a grand room!

Royal Palms Resort and Spa Multi-Million Dollar Renovation Complete
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, Wedding Inspiration

Have you heard the news that Royal Palms Resort & Spa has completed a nearly $4 million renovation? Just when you thought this luxurious property couldn’t get any better, it has! Here’s a few sneak peek photos:

Royal Palms Resort and Spa_resort in Phoenix_Phoenix Bride and Groom_wedding venue

Steeped in nearly 100 years of history, romance and elegance, Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix has been meticulously restored and revived after the conclusion of a $3.7 million renovation of the Mediterranean-style hideaway. The resort is part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand. The renovation touched all 119 guest rooms including the Presidential Suite; the Mother-of-Pearl swimming pool and lounge area; various event lawns; as well as landscaping and upkeep of close to 200 towering palms accenting the nine acres.

As part of the upgrades to the resort’s recreation areas, the pool deck now features new lounge chairs inspired by old Hollywood glamour, making for a share-worthy setting. Poolside cabanas with orbit beds continue the resort’s romantic tradition, and a new seasonal culinary and cocktails menu, designed by Executive Chef Todd Allison, invokes a sense of intrigue. Guests are invited to take a dip in the glamorous Mother-of-Pearl-tiled pool or whirlpool spa, cozy up in a cabana – all among the poolside’s charming and chic ambiance and lush outdoor location.

“It is with great honor and pride that we share the refreshed accommodations, sophisticated surroundings and elevated guest experience that will keep Royal Palms among the country’s top places to stay,” said Geoff Gray, general manager of Royal Palms Resort and Spa. “Our team was adamant about keeping the resort’s distinct character intact, while at the same time introducing modern-day comforts and conveniences for today’s most discerning travelers.”

Royal Palms combines the graciousness and sophistication of a storied Mediterranean villa with the intimacy and privacy of a secluded retreat, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit. Winding stone paths transport guests past a grove of orange trees, trickling fountains in courtyards, roaring outdoor fireplaces, 100-year-old rustic doorways and hand-painted tiles, and lush gardens filled with magenta bougainvillea, exotic plants and desert flowers. A true destination for lovers, the resort was originally built as a private mansion in 1929 as a grand gesture of love by financier Delos Willard Cooke for his wife Florence. Guests feel right at home while the heritage and heartbeat of the Royal Palms lives on. Royal Palms Resort and Spa_resort in Phoenix_Phoenix Bride and Groom_wedding venue

Woodland Inspired Sedona Wedding in Fall

Kristen and Jeffrey’s woodland inspired Sedona wedding in Fall is packed with beautiful moments and copper hued wedding decor- it’s the season’s hottest color and you’ll understand why we love it so much once you see the pics!

The ring bearers carried treasure chests covered in moss, grasses, pods and succulents; flower girls donned the sweetest boho inspired floral crowns

The ceremony was outside and had the most spectacular view of Sedona’s Red Rocks; the copper colored leaves in the garland and floral arrangements are magnolia leaves- we really love them for fall weddings!

Congrats to the bride and groom!

The reception was in the ballroom and Events by Showstoppers filled it beautifully with floral garland, hanging chandeliers, dramatic drape, intentional lighting, and lush centerpieces; even though the reception was indoors, it still had a magical woodland vibe.

Events by Showstoppers tells us about the seating card display: Three old wrought iron gates served as the seat assignment cards.  They formed a free standing  “screen,” and were draped with more handmade floral garlands…The cards were tied on alphabetically.

Ideas for Holiday Proposals from Emma Gibson
categories: Engagement, Tips and Advice, Wedding Resources

When we received an email from Emma Gibson offering to share her infographic on ideas for holiday proposals, we jumped at the chance to share it with you. Since there’s so much pressure to create the most perfect proposal experience, especially during the holidays, you’re sure to enjoy the informative graphics and solid advice!

Meet Emma: I’m Emma Gibson, a current PhD candidate living in Florida. My best friend, whom I’ve known since we were kids, had fallen in love with a wonderful girl. After two years of being together, James (my friend) told me he was ready to pop the question. And to my surprise, his whole proposal idea seemed to me (and I’m sure every girl who would listen to it), the worst idea ever!! So after laughing and begging him to change his plan, I began to research the most important tips every guy should know when it comes to proposing. My latest infographic design, therefore, is a beautiful summary of everything I was trying to tell him!

Ideas for Holiday Proposals _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Emma Gibson_HolidayProposal (1)

It’s a given that an “ideas for holiday proposals” blog will include advice about choosing a ring. You simply CANNOT propose without one!

Ideas for Holiday Proposals _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Emma Gibson_Holiday Proposal

It’s not uncommon that people run out of ideas or draw a blank when considering how to propose—it’s such a monumental step and you want to get it right!

Ideas for Holiday Proposals _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Emma Gibson_Holiday Proposal

The phrase, “Less is more” applies to many people so if you know your beloved doesn’t relish the spotlight or is more of a stay-at-home-and-watch-a-movie kind of gal, just keep it simple and ASK THE QUESTION!

Ideas for Holiday Proposals _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Emma Gibson_Holiday Proposal

Emma, thank you so much for your brilliant advice. Readers, we hope these ideas for holiday proposals help ease your mind and inspire you to make your proposal perfect for you and your love!
