Kristina and Chad’s Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

With their work schedules being busy at almost exactly opposite times of the year (Kristina is a teacher and Chad is a MLB pitcher), this lovely couple hired wedding planner Cara Morrison of A Day to Cherish Weddings to plan their elegant outdoor wedding with a view. The view was courtesy of the extraordinary Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa- Kristina and Chad knew as soon as they saw the gorgeous ceremony space, hip cocktail hour patio, and intimate ballroom that this was the place to exchange vows.

The couple used their vision of a wedding with rustic elegance to guide their wedding design choices; blush and ivory floral pieces added an element of romance while wooden accent pieces provided an outdoorsy feel.

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: For the outdoor ceremony, Kristina and Chad had their florist contruct a simple wooden arch and decorate it with flowing swags of white and blush flowers paired with greenery. Wooden stumps flanked either side of the arch and also served as bases for rustic candle lanterns that lined the rose petals dusted aisle.

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: Chad and I spent considerable time writing our vows to each other. It was worth every second and something I will always remember!

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: Kristina and Chad took full advantage of Sanctuary’s breathtaking desert landscape!

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: The reception was in the ballroom which boasts floor to ceiling windows- the effect is a stunning view of the mountains, Paradise Valley, and the city lights as the sun sets.

Our florist matched the blush rose tones of the linens and bridesmaid’s dresses with vases of staggered sizes, each with their own flower variety including ivory hydrangea, blush quicksand roses, Sahara roses and ivory majolica sweetheart roses. Gold pillar candleholders and votives accented the floral arrangements. The candles tied in perfectly with the gold-rimmed chargers and printed accents of the menus and favors on each plate.

Guests enjoyed a meal of Achiote Marinated Sea Bass , Grilled Corn and Chorizo Risotto, with Smoked Paprika and Lobster Butter Or Bacon-Wrapped Beef Tenderloin, Pancetta and Exotic Mushroom, Truffled Potato Cake with Cabernet Reduction Sauce- yum!

The sweetheart table was a pretty little setting for the couple to dine together for the first time as husband and wife and have the best view of their friends and family throughout the evening; the wooden decor elements were expertly incorporated into the otherwise elegantly decorated dining room.

Kristina recalls: Chad grew up in Texas and I am from Michigan. I had never heard of the southern tradition of a “groom’s cake” until Chad’s mother clued me into it. In the south, the groom gets his own wedding cake! For Chad I chose a chocolate Texas Tech cake decorated with strawberries.

Arizona Wedding Venue | Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Spa Casitas Refresh
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, for your ceremony, real weddings

Elite Circle Arizona Wedding Venue Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa has capped a multi-year enhancement and recently unveiled a $2 million refresh of its Spa Casitas and Suites. So what does this mean for couples getting married in Arizona? Well, besides the stunning (and let’s face it, completely legendary) views couples who wed at Sanctuary enjoy, guests also get to experience on-site luxury accommodations. This is a pretty big deal considering Sanctuary is already one of the most coveted resorts in town!

We know bathtubs might not be your priority when searching for your ideal Arizona wedding venue but look at this beautiful scene and try to tell us you’re not tempted to soak a few hours away right here. Just try…

Sanctuary’s Spa Casitas surround the resort’s stunning infinity-edge pool (which is adult-only Fri-Sun) and award-winning Sanctuary Spa

All 12 of the casitas have been refreshed with new upholstered beds, nightstands and tables, as well as outdoor patio furniture. Lighting, artwork, upholstery, rugs and bathroom draperies have also been replaced. Their spacious bathrooms feature double sinks, separate tubs and showers, and walk-in closets accommodate longer-term stays with ease.

The resort’s 12 Spa Suites, with glass rock fireplaces and Paradise Valley views, have received extensive indoor and outdoor upgrades. These include new sleeper sectionals, dining tables, fresh upholstery, and living space rugs. Master bedrooms feature all new furnishings and their original built-in shelving has been removed for a more streamlined, open look. Outdoors, there are new patio daybeds with canopies for privacy. Back patios with oversized soaking tubs have new teak decking and privacy screens for an enhanced outdoor bathing experience. Many suites also have new carpet in the master bedrooms as well as upgraded lighting throughout.

The renovation of Sanctuary’s Spa Suites and Casitas comes on the heels of the opening of Spa House in May 2016. This 3,500-square-foot private mountain home, with its own treatment room, movement studio, and open-flow home design ideal for entertaining, was conceived as an exclusive spa escape for groups of up to 16. The Spa House’s four bedrooms accommodate up to eight guests, and an additional eight can be housed in four new 875-square-foot Terrace Suites.

We wrote about the re-opening of Spa House- click here to read more!

Sanctuary is a striking boutique property on Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, Arizona, just minutes from downtown Scottsdale. The resort enjoys international acclaim for its contemporary design, award-winning elements restaurant and Sanctuary Spa.

A White and Gold Wedding in Arizona
categories: fabulous reception sites, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

White and Gold Wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Eyes2See Photography_The Wigwam

Natasha and Jeffery’s wedding weekend was all about fun from start to finish; the gals enjoying a bridal luncheon and salon time while the guys golfed, of course Saturday was the wedding day and a Sunday brunch wrapped up the weekend nicely. The couple definitely kept their guests busy while everyone gathered at the historic resort, The Wigwam, and they had the time of their lives. Fall in love with the resort and this sweet couple as we share their white and gold wedding in Arizona!

White and Gold Wedding in Arizona: The couple’s ceremony took place in an enchanted setting- The Wigwam’s outdoor courtyard. Bride Natasha tells us: If I had to choose one moment that will forever stick out in my mind, it would be seeing my future husband standing at the altar for the first time. We hadn’t done a “first look” or taken photos beforehand so the anticipation had been building as what seemed like forever for all the guests to be seated. Finally walking down the aisle and seeing Jeff standing there, with a huge grin on his face, was an unforgettable moment.

Wedding Invitation Trends for 2017
categories: the paper chase, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Since wedding stationery has progressed from a simple invitation into full-circle stationery “suites”, it’s important to know what the trends are and what new designs and options are available to you. Our Elite Circle stationers have been in the business for years and know what’s in and what’s out. They’ve graciously shared their trend insights to give you an idea of what to expect when you go about choosing your wedding stationery for your 2017/2018 wedding:

Celebrations in Paper: I am seeing a lot more great quality stock and tons of foil.  So where in the past a bride would order an invitation with either thermography or letterpress for the text and print their names only in foil, now they want all printing done in foil.  It’s a gorgeous look.

Be in Love Designs: I’m seeing couples using an insert called a web card that refers guests to a website for wedding information and online RSVPing. Another trend I am seeing is either poster sized menus or programs instead of one per person.

Designing/choosing wedding stationery is one aspect of wedding planning that many couples look forward to- you get to choose paper colors, styles, shapes, wording, etc. alongside your stationer and maybe it’s just us, but we think that sounds like fun! Since the tone and formality of your wedding is determined by the invitation you send, working with a stationer who “gets” you is paramount.

Our best advice is to choose to hire someone who not only offers a wide variety of stationery but who also really listens to you and offers custom design options (if that’s the route you and your budget want to take). Check out our Elite Circle stationery experts and enjoy using these wedding invitation trends in your stationery suite!

Meet Our Tempe Mission Palms Giveaway Winners!
categories: fabulous reception sites, Giveaways and Contests, Meet Our Friends

When you enter one of our giveaways, you just might get more than you bargained for…case in point, not only did Mitch and Meghan win our Tempe Mission Palms giveaway (valued at $1,250), they also got a mini-photo shoot with Fully Alive Photography’s Tracy Battaglia!

Here’s our winning couple:

Tempe Mission Palms giveaway winners _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding_Fully Alive Photography

Meghan and Mitch, who met while being inducted as members of the University of Arizona’s Mortar Board Honor Society, have been planning their wedding for almost two years and are thrilled that the actual wedding day is less than 2 months away. The fact that they had time to schedule this shoot with us and look so cute proves that they’re ready!

Kellie Mendoza from Tempe Mission Palms and our very own Dawn Peterson presented the gift certificate to the couple; Tracy Battaglia of Fully Alive Photography was on site to snap the photos.

The Proposal: In 2015, I wanted to impress Meghan with a surprise proposal. As a result, I conspired with two of Meghan’s best friends, who were living in Raleigh, NC at the time. I made it appear as though these friends had bought Meghan a surprise trip to Raleigh as a birthday present. A day after Meghan arrived, Meghan and her friend toured around Durham while her other friend picked me up from the airport. Meghan watched an Arizona Wildcat basketball game at a local restaurant and then was taken to a bright red bridge in the Sarah P. Duke Gardens on the Duke University Campus. While her friend pretended to take Meghan’s picture on the bridge, I came out from the bushes and surprised Meghan by getting down on one knee.

We are most looking forward to enjoying the day with our close friends and family. Having a two-year engagement has allowed us (mostly Meghan) to be more detailed in wedding planning. Because of this, there is less to worry or fret about during the actual wedding day.

We love how Phoenix Bride & Groom magazine incorporates real bride and wedding stories. These stories have helped us be more proactive in planning. We also love the recommendations and focus on local vendors. These recommendations have given us a starting place in piecing together our wedding. Finally, we really enjoy the photography!

From the lush courtyard, to the fountain circle at the hotel’s majestic front entrance, Tempe Mission Palms is the premier venue for hosting romantic wedding ceremonies in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The central location of the hotel means guests have close access to all that Phoenix and Scottsdale have to offer!
