Fall Wedding Open House | Sassi Weddings
categories: fabulous reception sites, open houses, Scottsdale Weddings

Choosing your wedding venue is no small feat so an opportunity to tour a property, experience the event team in action and actually attend an event at a venue is not to be missed! Sassi Weddings’ upcoming Fall Wedding Open House is your chance to do all of these things.

fall-wedding-open-house _phoenix-bride-and-groom_sassi-weddings

Sassi Weddings offers couples getting married in Arizona a unique Old World experience. The venue has breathtaking city and mountain views along with delicious artisan cuisine inspired by Southern Italian traditions. Private rooms for 8-36+ guests are available as well as the garden lawn and private event space for 150+ guests.

At the Fall wedding open house you’ll get to tour the private Sassi room featuring a fireplace and covered patio overlooking the courtyard fountain. It’s one of the most romantic places to celebrate your nuptials in Arizona!

Amanda and Kurt’s Sassi Wedding was one gorgeous affair; bride Amanda recalls, “Many of our guests commented that dinner was one of the best meals that they have had.”

Mariam and Morgan’s Destination Wedding at Sassi was a beautiful blend of Mariam’s Persian heritage and Morgan’s Army ties. The couple’s vision for the reception was stunning: “We really wanted the room to have a glow and all the candles and up lighting really helped create the mood we wanted.”

If you aren’t able to attend the Fall Wedding Open House, call Bernice at 480-502-3335 to schedule a private tour. Read more about the Sassi Buyout option and ask about the current incentives that include flexible food and beverage minimums and complimentary ceremony fee based on open available dates.

Different Shades of Purple Bridesmaid Dresses | Wedding Trend
categories: bridal fashions, floral inspiration, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Purple is one of those colors that always seems to hover at the top of wedding color lists and we’re OK with that! There are many reasons why couples choose purple- depending on the hue, it’s seasonally neutral, there are many beautiful purple flowers to choose from and historically, purple is the color of royalty (so perfect for weddings!). Today we’re sharing one of the top trends in weddings: different shades of purple bridesmaid dresses. You’ll quickly see why this is such a hot trend!

(Photography: Katrina Wallace Photographers, Event Planner: Victoria Canada Weddings and Events, Location: Arizona Biltmore, Makeup Artist: Corinna Cooke, Florist: Petal Pusher)

Different Shades of Purple Bridesmaid Dresses Tip: You can choose various shades of purple for your bridesmaids dresses as well as letting your bridesmaids choose a different style of dress altogether! We do suggest you keep the formality of the dresses similar though so you don’t end up with extremely casual and extremely formal dresses side by side- that can be distracting.

(Bridesmaid Dresses: Bella Bridesmaids, Monique Lhullier)

Different Shades of Purple Bridesmaid Dresses Tip: When shopping with your bridesmaids, only vary 2 style features such as color & style or length & style. If you allow the dresses to be too different, your gals won’t look like a cohesive group.

Different Shades of Purple Bridesmaid Dresses Tip: Designate your maid of honor or a special friend by letting her choose a different shade of purple from the other bridesmaids. If you’re concerned about opinions clashing at your ordering appointment, prep ahead with your bridal shop and limit the options each girl can choose from. And consider letting your maid of honor choose first.

Different Shades of Purple Bridesmaid Dresses Tip: For a whimsical look, use pattern to vary the dresses- a completely different dress can still be the perfect addition to your bridesmaids’ overall look if you keep the other dresses very similar to each other. Details such as matching flower crowns (or bouquets), accessories or shoes will ensure your gals look like they go together!

Arizona Cake Shop | Piece of Cake Desserts
categories: cakes and sweets, Meet Our Friends, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

This may sound a bit blunt but we don’t want to attend a wedding that doesn’t have dessert. Can you blame us? Weddings make for long days and we just want a sweet reward, is that too much to ask?!  So now that we’ve established our priorities, you’ll understand why wedding cakes are so important to us. We want the sugar but we also need the wow factor and wedding cakes do the job nicely. Elite Circle Arizona cake shop Piece of Cake Desserts has been on our list of favorite cakes for many years and if you don’t know why, you’ll find out today!

Piece of Cake Desserts is an Arizona cake shop owned and operated by Kevin and Amy Kossman. They’re nothing short of genius! Their cakes are everything- elegant, breathtaking, delicious, creative, original, edgy, classic…we could go on and on. But what’s really important to you, a couple who is searching for their dream cake artist, is what they have to say about their work.

What is it about your cakes that make them special or stand out? Our overall style is very clean.  Sharp buttercream corners are harder to achieve and they take more time but we believe our couples are worth it!  Our couples are constantly challenging us to learn new techniques and that has helped us keep growing in size and in skill. Because we have 5 talented decorators there are plenty of eyes than can see flaws and help correct them to make certain that the cake that makes it onto the cake table is one the couple will be proud of.  So I guess what makes our cakes special isn’t really the cakes at all, it’s the wonderful team we have and the pride they show in every cake they create!

What should couples know about their own wedding before meeting with you? To get the very most out of their wedding consultation, we definitely recommend that couples have their venue and date locked down as well as their wedding colors before meeting with us.  The venue and the date are important so we can make certain that we are able to offer delivery to that location on their big day and the colors are important because because almost half of the time they are incorporated into the wedding cake.

What helps you understand your client’s wedding cake vision best? To really understand a couple’s vision, it helps for us to see pictures of things they love and they feel fits the aesthetic of their big day.  That can be cake pictures they found on Pinterest, bouquet pictures, the wedding dress, linens, etc. Sometimes it’s a picture of a dragon, a kilt, or a scene out of a Disney movie.  Every wedding is so unique, that’s why we love what we do!

What cake or dessert trends are you seeing for 2016/2017 weddings that you’re loving? Any trends you’re glad to see going out of style? I am really happy that the half dressed cakes are becoming more popular and the true naked cakes are becoming less popular.  The half dressed cake has just enough frosting on it to keep the cake from drying out, and it looks awesome!  A completely naked cake, on the other hand, is just cake exposed to air, usually sitting on the cake table for 5-6 hours.  And we all know what happens to a piece of bread that sits on a plate for 5 hours… giant crouton!  With a naked cake, the outside will get very crusty unless it is heavily soaked with simple syrup, and guests that get the outer pieces will receive a much drier cake than guests that get a piece from the inner portion of the cake.

Can you accommodate clients who have special dietary needs or restrictions? We definitely can and we do quite often!  We offer dairy free, soy free, corn free, vegan, and gluten free friendly cakes.  Since we are a bakery that uses a lot of flour, which has  a tendency to get into the air, we can’t offer a completely gluten free cake because, even with extremely careful handling, due to the presence of hundreds of pounds of flour in the shop, there is the potential for minor airborne cross contamination.

If you could design your “dream” wedding cake, what would it be? Despite our shop’s ability to create just about anything, my wedding cake would be pretty simple (at least the front side). I would go for simple textures, alternating buttercream rosettes with an imperfect horizontal line texture.  On the back I would go with the increasingly popular “peek a boo” style which allows you to have an elegant cake from the front view with some fun elements that are only visible from the back.  There is where I would incorporate some fun Star Wars, Batman and Disney elements!

categories: floral inspiration, Grooms, Wedding Inspiration

When sharing weddings with you, we often ooh and ahh over the bride’s bouquet because, well, they’re bigger than boutonnieres and grab our attention more, but today we are focusing on the much loved boutonniere. Grooms have been donning these mini-bouquets on their lapels since the 19th century and our Elite Circle florists are experts at creating gorgeous fall and winter boutonnieres. Take a look!

Peach Wedding Inspiration | Pantone’s Peach Echo
categories: floral inspiration, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

For those of you who want a wedding color palette that’s not pastel and not jewel-toned, we have some lovely peach wedding inspiration today thanks to Peach Echo, one of Pantone’s top 10 colors for 2016. This soft orange hue has been on our radar all year long and with good reason- this sister to orange (which has enjoyed quite a bit of popularity) is a shade that emanates friendlier qualities, evoking warmth and accessibility. It is an all-encompassing, tempered companion in the playful orange family.

PANTONE-16-1548-Peach-Echo

We love Peach Echo because wedding design is broadening it’s view to include a wide spectrum of color palettes- light, dark, and right in the middle. Peach echo is right in the middle and pairs beautifully with many other top 10 colors.

Elegant Black White & Gold Wedding
categories: cakes and sweets, destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (1)

Michael and Shaida’s elegant black white & gold wedding was at Villa Siena, a beautiful wedding venue that makes you feel like you’ve been transported to another land. The Tuscan architecture paired perfectly with the couple’s vision for a classic and elegant wedding while gold touches throughout made it feel extra pretty!

elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (2)

This mirror has quite a story and we’ll let Shaida tell it to you: The mirror was such a special gift from my new husband! We write each other notes on our bathroom mirrors, notes of encouragement or love or even little jokes. The ones I really love I would keep on the mirrors for months at a time. So my sweet husband made a mirror for me and had some of my favorite notes engraved into the frame and he surprised me with a few new ones. I was completely surprised. Now the mirror is in the hallway just outside our bedroom door and, no matter how busy I am, I will see one of those notes and smile. I couldn’t have imagined a better gift from my groom.

elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (3) elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (4)

Shaida and Michael met on their first day of medical school and while they live in the Phoenix area now, they are originally from Tucson so they worked with quite a few wedding vendors from the Tucson area; Shaida’s lovely bouquet of roses and hydrangea was designed by Tucson florist Posh Petals.

Elegant Black White & Gold Wedding Detail: According to the bride, the shimmering gold bridesmaid dresses were “moving centerpieces” and inspired the couple’s use of gold as an accent color

Favorite Moment: I think my favorite part of the wedding was how incredibly filled with love it was. From the smiles my new husband and I would share separated by crowds of people to my dad’s beaming eyes to the smiles on our guests faces when we would look across the ballroom. There was just so much love that it was almost palpable. We wanted to make the wedding a very personal event so people would feel very much a part of this wonderful thing we were doing that day, and it really did feel that way.

This is Shaida’s cousin Yasmeen-isn’t she precious?

elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (8) elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (9)

Elegant Black White & Gold Wedding Ceremony: The outdoor wedding ceremony featured white flower petals lining the aisle, floating candles and elegant white floral arrangements placed on and around the fireplace; live harp music filled the air.

elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (10) elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (11)

Elegant Black White & Gold Wedding Reception: The ballroom was something my sister described as being “from Beauty and the Beast” with high ceilings and wooden molding and chandeliers that looked like they were from Tuscany.

Michael and Shaida’s monochromatic white wedding decor was a lovely way to compliment the existing dark wood of Villa Siena’s Firenze ballroom.

Elegant Black White & Gold Wedding Detail: This is a Persian dessert table- a Sofreh Aghd- and it’s filled with traditional Persian sweets and symbolic items. For example, the mirror represents bringing light and brightness into the couple’s future, the candles/candelabra symbolize energy and clarity, assorted nuts represent fertility and abundance, etc. It’s quite a beautiful way to honor the bride’s Persian heritage.elegant black white & gold wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Villa Siena (16)

Michael, Shaida and their guests danced the night away; the revelers sent the couple off with a sparkler-studded exit!

Shaida and Michael, thank you for sharing your elegant black white & gold wedding with us and congratulations!
