We at Phoenix Bride & Groom feel our vendors are the best in the business, and here’s yet another confirmation:

Sedona makeup artist Liz Margin has been awarded the Bride’s Choice Award 2010 for makeup artistry.

In addition to being much-loved by the locals, Liz is a true pro in her field. Her roster of celeb clients includes Heidi Klum, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Chloe Sevigny.

The native New Yorker moved to Sedona in 2005 where her primary focus has been bringing her talents to brides.

“Of all the famous people I have worked with and all the exotic places I’ve traveled in my career, this award is one of the highlights,” says Liz. “It means I’ve pleased the most important clients I’ve ever worked with: my brides. I’m honored to have their confidence.”

Check out Liz’s portfolio at www.lizmargin.com and her blog www.lizmarginbeautykarma.blogspot.com. Congrats, Liz!

Best advice for 2010: Have fun!
categories: photography, real weddings

And the award for best advice from a wedding photographer goes to…. Ben Quillinan!

When interviewed for our feature on wedding photography and videography in the Winter/Spring 2010 issue of Phoenix Bride & Groom, Ben had these words of wisdom to share with our readers:

“Have fun…and be in love. No photo software can make you look like you were smiling, dancing, crying, hugging, kissing…if you weren’t.”

He goes on to say, “It’s a great day so just relax and enjoy yourselves. Hold hands, kiss a lot, show affection. Trust me, all of this shows in your pictures.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!

An enchanting site!
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, from the consultants, real weddings, reception ideas

Take a look at the shimmering decor orchestrated by Amy Mancuso for the New Year’s Eve wedding of Kara Ruiz and Marvin Brown!

“It was New Year’s Eve and romance was in the air,” commented bride Kara.

The twinkle lights, white flower petals, amazing crystals and hanging votive candles combined to create a winter wonderland for the couple at the Royal Palms Resort and Spa.

Look at Kara and Marvin “jumping the broom!”

The inside of the ballroom was just as sensational, with candles all aglow and spring fresh floral arrangements of hydrangeas and lillies by The Flower Studio.

It’s a photo op!
categories: fabulous reception sites, photography

Brides and Grooms: When you are choosing your reception site, don’t forget to consider what kind of photo ops are available. Of course your photographer will help a ton with this since he or she will know when the lighting is just right next to the mesquite grove or the fountain. However, you can also scout out picture perfect backdrops on your own.

Emily Delgado and Jack Gray wed this October at the Phoenix Art Museum. This site proved not only lovely when decorated for their outdoor wedding in the garden and their reception indoors, it also offered amazing backdrops for photographs.

Photographer Stuart Thurlkill of Eyes 2 See Photography took full advantage of the artful surroundings in capturing the couple in all their wedding-day bliss.
