Real Wedding: Evangeline and Anthony
categories: real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

There is one perfect word to describe Evangeline and Anthony: sweet. I know that’s not a fancy word but it’s so true when it comes to this couple who got married at St. Anne’s Church then celebrated at Val Vista Lakes in Gilbert. I love their innocence, their bond and their genuine smiles.

Evangeline tells us about the Superman gear: Anthony is a big superman fan. At the rehearsal dinner, he gave the groomsmen their gifts of matching superman socks and superman shot glasses. My brother (a groomsman) gave him superman cufflinks as a wedding gift. As a surprise, I wore a garter with a superman charm tied to it. Anthony loved it! It was the personal touches that made our wedding day so special.

Do you see what I mean about the sweetness?

I love the color combo of yellow, blue and white- it’s fresh and happy

Evangeline and Anthony’s Wedding video tells their story so beautifully:

KG: What is your favorite thing about being married?

E/A: Our favorite thing about being married is being seen as and living life together as “one.” Signing with the same last name, living together, cooking with each other, and most of all starting our family. Ill never forget showing him my positive pregnancy test and later hearing his excitement when the doctor said we are expecting a son this June 2012!

KG: Tell us about your honeymoon!

E/A: Our honeymoon was in Maui, Hawaii. We wanted a beach getaway in the U.S. We didn’t want to be on a long flight or deal with passports. It was amazing except we had food poisoning our first night. Laying ill in bed, we laughed and repeated our vows we said a fews days prior “… in sickness and in health.”

KG: What advice would you give brides-to- be?

E/A: My advice to future brides is twofold:

One, if possible, hire a day-of-coordinator. My coordinator took all my items at the rehearsal dinner and ensured my vision came together on the big day. I didn’t want to be finding bouquets or placing centerpieces on my wedding day. On my wedding day, I woke up worry-free and couldn’t wait to marry Anthony in front of our family and friends.

Two, every bride can get stressed or nervous, don’t lose focus. Your wedding is a day but your marriage is a lifetime. After all the planning, breathe and be a bride. You are finally marrying the love of your life! Once you walk the aisle, everyone’s looking at you.. but you will be looking at one person.

KG: Did anything about your wedding day surprise you?

E/A: I always heard your wedding is the “happiest day of your life.” I was surprised at how true this statement is. Never again will there be an occasion where you and your fiance’s family and friends will be there and will be brought together to celebrate your commitment and love for each other. It truly is the happiest day of our lives.

Congratulations Evangeline and Anthony and thank you for sharing your day with us!

Wedding Giveaway!
categories: Giveaways and Contests, Trends

You have heard us talk about the AMAZING wedding giveaway from Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak and Phoenix Bride and Groom Magazine but we thought you might want to see our latest efforts to encourage couples getting married in Arizona to enter to win a complete wedding and reception at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak (entries due by by March 5th).

We had the opportunity to chat all things wedding with Hailey Frances of Channel 12 News last week and since we love pretty things, we set up a happy and bright table for the TV segment. Of course we couldn’t do it without the help of our friends so we wanted to extend heartfelt thanks to those who heeded the call (with short notice) and provided us with the goodies for the table.

Floral: Table Tops, Etc, Linens: Wildflower Linens, Paper Products: Celebrations in Paper, Rentals: Classic Party Rentals

We LOVE the bright palette of tangerine and fuchsia and we were so pleased to see how the everything came together. Thanks again friends!

Great Find: Mattie Luxe
categories: favor and gift ideas

Personalization is so important these days when talking weddings- we want our stationery suites to be completely custom, we give bridal party gifts that are personalized, and we use colors throughout the wedding day that have meaning to us (the colors of the college where you met for example) so Mattie Luxe, a hip home decor company, fits right in with your wedding decor plans.

Mattie Luxe offers customizable placemats and lucite trays in really fun patterns and colors (think bridal shower/casual and modern reception decor). Look at these cutie designs:

Wouldn’t it be fun to propose using these placemats?

Celebrities adore Mattie Luxe for their hip designs too

Here’s a sample of the lucite tray- I think these would make perfect ceremony beverage trays, program trays, escort card holders, candy bar accessories…I could go on and on!

Of course, there are many more options on the Mattie Luxe website and the inspiration is endless- have fun shopping!

Real Wedding: Laura and Ryan
categories: real weddings, Scottsdale Weddings

Laura and Ryan’s destination wedding was a modern classic- they chose the classic colors of ivory and sapphire blue, the bride wore a 1950’s vintage necklace and there was a traditional bagpiper (as a sweet surprise to the groom as a nod to his heritage) but added modern touches such as purple suede Prada shoes and dresses chosen by each bridesmaid.

Since Laura and Ryan’s guests were traveling from all over the country (and some even from Canada) to Arizona, the couple wanted to provide an elegant and intimate destination wedding. The Sanctuary on Camelback provided spectacular views and an authentic Arizona vibe.

How much do you love Laura’s purple shoes?

This is one of my favorite pictures from the day

Want interesting bride and groom portraits? Sanctuary on Camelback is a great location for photos because it has so many pretty niches and rich textures

Since Laura and Ryan are from Chicago, they differentiated their reception tables with pictures of Chicago landmarks

KG: Now that you have had a chance to settle in, what is your favorite thing about being married?

L/R: No more wedding planning! Just kidding, we are mostly enjoying spending quality time with each other. Planning a wedding is a huge time commitment and now we have free time to make dinner together, see movies and decorate our apartment with all of our wonderful gifts from our generous friends and family.

KG: Did you go on a Honeymoon?

L/R: We had a destination wedding and were lucky enough to enjoy the weather in Arizona for 5 days (a nice break from the Chicago chill) so we chose not to go on a honeymoon immediately. As we are getting settled, we are considering different locals that interest us: Thailand, Bali, Fiji, Belize, Brazil. There are just so many places to see!

KG: What advice would you give brides-to- be?

L/R: Two words: Time management. I bought a magazine that included a monthly/weekly planner with tips and worked either on or ahead of that schedule as the wedding approached. I have many friends that have been married and know how hectic things can get at the end even with advanced planning. I had a clear idea of what I wanted for my wedding by scanning many (and I mean many, many stacks!) wedding magazines and blogs and cutting out or drawing pictures of what intrigued me. I also relied heavily on referrals from my wedding coordinator and the first few vendors we decided on. Who knows the local industry better than the people that are in it?

Enjoying the day: I knew the day would be crazy and emotional, I purposely included extra time in the schedule and planned our ceremony to start slightly earlier than I really wanted it to. This allowed me to relax knowing that if we are “behind” it would all work out. And lastly, just smile, you are marrying your best friend and the man/woman of your dreams! What else could possibly matter?

KG: Did anything about your wedding day surprise you?

L/R: The speeches at our reception. Everyone did so well! You could really tell that everyone put thought and love into what they were saying and we so appreciated it! We were also pleasantly surprised and honored by the family and friends that made the trip to Arizona from across the continent!

KG: What was your favorite thing about/part of the day?

It is nearly impossible to have one favorite part of your wedding day, however we were able to narrow it down to three:

1. The bagpiper – My present to Ryan and a huge and emotional surprise for him.

2. The time after our ceremony – We took sunset pictures following our ceremony and then a few minutes to ourselves allowing us to relax, reflect and eat!

3. Our reception entrance – We had the DJ ask everyone to greet us on the dance floor for our entrance to “Shipping Up To Boston” (Ryan’s home town) and it sure set the mood for the rest of the reception.

Laura also had some kind words to say about her vendors:

Rev G was a great source of knowledge about choosing local vendors and what to expect from the day. He was also great at keeping the ceremony fun yet professional.

Allison Bess is an up and coming photographer though she is young she works very hard and has fabulous business ethics (excellent communication, follow through and great end product). She has the drive and talent and is one to watch out for!

Also, our DJ was fabulous and knows how to throw a good party with little guidance.

Congratulations Laura and Ryan and thank you for sharing your wedding with us!

Charge it!
categories: reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration, what's hot in rentals

Every couple has priorities when planning their reception- some want the best band so they can dance the night away, some prefer stunning floral designs and others crave sweets to rock everyone’s world- so we understand that not every couple is obsessed with their reception tables. But what we also understand is that every couple wants a reception that fits their style and makes an impression on their guests.

Think about it: when your guests sit down for dinner, do you want them to be seated at a table with basic white linens, napkins, plates and that oh so important butter dish? I think not!  There are countless ways to dress up your reception tables that will delight your guests and a charger is one way to add that extra layer of fab (a charger is a larger decorative plate that is placed underneath the dinner plate).

These elegant and artistic chargers from BBJ Linen (from their brand new and quite extensive line of chargers) may change your mind about how you decorate your reception tables

(Napoli Mocha, Cork Mink)

A well chosen charger will compliment the color and style of your entire wedding

(Tidal Wave Turquoise, Moss Burnt Orange)

If you don’t want lots of color but you still want texture, you can choose chargers like these

(Byzantine Pearlized White, Carmen Silver)

(Croc Violet Silver, Sea Sponge Silver)

You can go whimsical with a charger like the Petunia Sage charger or totally glam like the black glitter charger:

(Petunia Sage, Marbella Black Glitter)

(Swirl Red with Gold, Lino Ginger Glitter)

(Lino Limoges Blue, Palazzo Fuchsia)

Remember,  you can completely transform your reception tables with layers, color and texture with chargers, linens, chair covers and more. BBJ Linen offers a complete line of wedding decor options so you owe it to yourself to check them out. No more basic white!

Happy Planning from your Arizona Wedding Blog,

Kelly

When we heard about CopperWynd Resort and Club’s upcoming Bridal Open House, we knew we needed to spread the word about this intimate and romantic venue. See, they are celebrating their re-opening and we are thrilled to show you why this is such great news. CopperWynd is known for it’s lushly landscaped property, delicious food from on-site restaurant Alchemy and luxury accommodations. We thought the best way to showcase the resort is by showing you a gorgeous wedding that just happens to also be very Valentine’s Day appropriate. Feel the love!

This is Rachel, the beautiful bride.

The gorgeous ceremony lawn can be decorated to compliment your style- the red really pops against the greenery

The view from CopperWynd is expansive and breathtaking. You can even see the Fountain Hills fountain!

Here’s the sweet couple!

Since CopperWynd is secluded, there are lots of great places to explore for pictures

I love the mood of the event lawn for receptions- the trees make the space seem intimate yet you can enjoy being outdoors and enjoy the amazing Arizona evening temps
