Real Arizona Wedding: April and Mark
categories: real weddings

April and Mark’s “country shabby chic” wedding was at April’s parents’ house in Cave Creek  and we love the signature Arizona scenery and pretty DIY details. We also really like how the bride and groom included the bride’s 6 year old son into the wedding day.  It was definitely a family affair!

April wore these sassy boots- the same boots she was wearing when she met Mark!

Love the picture of the boys getting ready!

The dinner was a country style menu from Jube’s BBQ…yum!

I am a popcorn fanatic (I could eat it every night for dinner) so this popcorn bar caught my eye

Whimsical decor for the kids’ table

 Isn’t this sweets table pretty?

April and Mark, thank you for sharing your day with us and congratulations!

Arizona Engagement: Amy and Chris
categories: Engagement, photography

The images from Amy and Chris’ Phoenix Art Museum engagement session with R2 Studio are visually stunning and I am elated to share them with you today. The couple loves modern art so their decision to go to the museum was a given. What I bet was unexpected was how truly artistic the images from the session turned out. I know, I’m gushing. I’ll stop so you can enjoy!

How could such a simple picture say so much? I don’t have an answer but major kudos to R2 Studio for capturing this moment

Amy and Chris lightened up the mood a bit and showed off their mad robot skills

(All Images Courtesy of: The R2 Studio)

For a healthy dose of adorable, read on:

The Proposal:

It was kind of spontaneous… We had just finished an awesome dinner and were having a great time in Phoenix, as we both lived out of town; Chris in Pinetop and I in Flagstaff. At the end of the night Chris told me that he felt like he knew exactly what he loved about me, our silliness together and the feeling like we were perfect matches… He couldn’t imagine a better time, so he got down on one knee and proposed.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Amy: My favorite thing about Chris is that he has made me a better person, he has taught me to be more patient and more forgiving. Very important things in a relationship. I also just love the way he is when it’s just me and him at home. That is when he is the most silly and most sweet.

Chris:My favorite thing about Amy is her kind, caring, and considerate personality. Whether it be a close friend or recent acquaintance Amy is always thinking about other people and willing to go out of her way to help… I think about our future with kids and know she’ll be an amazing mother and lifelong partner. Her personality allows me to be exactly who I am and I love the ridiculous laughs we have when it’s just us!

What are your wedding plans?

We are getting married in AZ at The Clayton on the Park in downtown Scottsdale on October 19th. I have a dislike for the super southwestern desert look, so I searched million hours online trying to find the perfect venue. Finally I stumbled upon the clayton, and we could not be more excited about our venue!!!!!! It is so amazing and Carrie is so awesome. She is helping us plan our day and we think she is doing a great job!

What drew you to R2 Studio?

The personalities of both Robin and Renee in their video online. They are soooo goofy, and we love that! And we obviously love their work! Every time we see an engagement session or wedding album on Facebook or their website, we are amazed at how great the photos turn out! They really do have “mad skills”!

What are you most excited about regarding your wedding day?

THE RECEPTION!!! Gonna be a blast!

Can you tell us any details about your wedding?

I am absolutely obsessed with stripes (black an white are my favorite color combo). For such a long time I’ve had a love for them so we decided why not have black and white stripes for the colors! We have also added touches of teal throughout to give a pop. Striped linens, striped invites, stripes place cards… You name it, it’s probably got stripes!

We are so excited about our officiant, Matt Nathanson, he is awesome. He is modern and trendy and not stuck in the ultra traditional rut. He has ways to bring humor and fun into the ceremonies. Chris and I are quite silly and we’re so excited to have found an officiant that can conduct a ceremony that matches our personalities.

Another fun detail is that I have lots of nieces and nephews! 14 to be exact! Chris has one very adorable nephew who will be the ring bearer. But we’ve decided that any one of my nieces and nephews that want to walk down he aisle can! We don’t know who is going to yet, but it will be definitely be chaotic and adorable with that many little ones!

I have a feeling Chris and Amy’s wedding is going to be a ton of fun. Congratulations to you and thank you for sharing your engagement session with us!

Wedding Venue: Superstition Mountain Golf Club
categories: fabulous reception sites, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Arizona has become a destination wedding hot spot for several reasons: we have an abundance of sun (which equals pretty pictures), there are many entertainment and excursion options for guests, our industry experts are known for their integrity and talent and our venue scene rocks. That’s right, I said it rocks. Where else can you choose from traditional resorts, golf course ceremonies with mountain views, a wide range of architectural styles, and outdoor reception courtyards galore? The variety is stellar.

So you should not be surprised when I tell you that Superstition Mountain Golf Club is jaw-dropping beautiful or that it has notable views but you will be impressed with its intimate vibe, unique Superstition Mountain scenery and high-end rustic architecture. Simply stated, it’s gorgeous.

Megan and Ross, a couple who very recently wed at Superstition Mountain Golf Club, shared their wedding day with us. Have a look-see!

How much do you love this view? The outdoor reception area includes the overhead lights which create a warm atmosphere in the evening and the statuesque mountain in the background adds to the overall aesthetic

Some details about Superstition Mountain Golf Club that will convince you that this is a venue needs to go on your wedding planning site visit list:

*Superstition Mountain’s premiere reception areas can accommodate intimate gatherings as well as affairs for up to 300 guests. For small groups there is the private dining room in the award-winning clubhouse–featuring weathered stone walls, massive cantera stone fireplace and wine storage wall– entered through a rustic wood door from 16th century Spain. An Old World courtyard can accommodate additional guests
*A photographer’s dream, this private community offers a beautiful outdoor ceremony location which can accommodate up to 500 seated guests and provides panoramic mountain and golf course views that showcase the area’s great beauty and stunning sunsets. While the Clubhouse architecture and décor exude a European ambience that makes you feel as if transported to another region completely.
*For larger celebrations, the north facing Spanish-influenced courtyard perfectly frames the Superstition Mountains and provides expansive, festive space to dine, dance and celebrate the honored couple.
*In addition to the wedding & reception couples and their guests may choose to spend the weekend in one of five fully furnished villas designed with luxury in mind and granting use of the Club’s many amenities such as the Restaurant, Sports Club and golf. Groomsmen golf outings, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and more may also be added to enhance your experience at Superstition Mountain.

Real Arizona Wedding: Erica and Steven
categories: bridal fashions, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, photography, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Erica and Steven’s elegant wedding at The Silverleaf Club has so many things we adore about weddings- we love how the couple interacts, the bond with their family is tangible, the venue is gorgeous, the details are lovely and the photography captured all of this perfectly.

Erica’s dress was very special- she  had it altered so that she could unzip the bottom part of the dress and easily turn it into a shorter reception dress. Genius!

I am in LOVE with these prep pictures by Jennifer Bowen Photography– they are like something out of a high fashion magazine!

Erica tells us about the sophisticated reception decor and details: On one table, we framed pictures of our parents’ and grandparents’ wedding photos. The sacrament of marriage is extremely important to the both of us. We thought it was important to celebrate the union of those who came before us and the paved the way for us to start our lives together. At the end of the evening, we gave our guests gift boxes filled with traditional Jordan Almonds in silver and white. Jordan Almonds symbolize wishes of happiness, health, wealth, children and longevity.

We chose touches of ivory, pewter, and ballet pink to create an elegant, soft ambiance. We wanted our decor to complement and not overwhelm the natural scenery. Candle light highlighted the beauty of the Mediterranean architecture and delicate white flowers decorated the tables. We incorporated a lot of ivory roses, white hydrangea and lilac, and French tulips.

We will both never forget our first dance. We danced to “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison, a song that we had grown to love early in our relationship. Midway through out first dance we asked two of our close friends to join us on the dance floor. “Crazy Love” was also their wedding song and that it held a special place in their hearts as well. Being surrounded by our closest family and friends, all in one place, on the most important day of our lives, was the perfect way to start the next chapter of our lives together.

Erica’s wise words to any couple getting married: To those who are embarking upon the wedding planning process- enjoy it!  If you are anything like us, you have dreamt about this day for many years. Take a moment to step back and take it all in as these are the moments you will never forget.

CONGRATULATIONS Erica and Steven and thank you for sharing your day with us!

Real Arizona Wedding: Chrissy and Anthony
categories: cakes and sweets, fabulous reception sites, real weddings, reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Chrissy and Anthony’s multi-cultural wedding was a fun mix of classic details and artistic touches; there were so many personal and well-thought out moments during the wedding that we know you will absolutely love it and hopefully be inspired to make your own wedding a true reflection of you as a couple.

The entire wedding party got together for a “classroom photo shoot” before the ceremony, acting out their former high school personalities while dressed in wedding attire – it was the perfect way for everyone to relax before the wedding; the photos are priceless and hilarious!

Anthony’s Vietnamese culture was honored in the Catholic ceremony with the inclusion of a Vietnamese priest. Also in honor of his heritage, Chrissy changed from her traditional wedding gown into a Vietnamese Áo dài for part of the reception.

Staying true to the couple’s ‘mod’ personalities and love of the 80’s, Anthony was inspired by a scene from the movie “Some Kind of Wonderful”. He painted a picture of Chrissy and somehow talked the Phoenix Art Museum into letting him hang it on the wall. Expecting a normal visit to the museum, Chrissy was surprised when she saw the painting and he knelt down to propose! Here’s your proof that wedding coordinators are prone to genius: Victoria Canada Weddings and Events displayed the original proposal painting on a museum display card, as if guests were in a museum, next to the images taken during the proposal; they also arranged to have a replica of Anthony’s painting projected onto the dance floor.

Chrissy and Anthony created all of their own paper products and hand-painted their table numbers- love this artistic DIY Wedding inspiration!

The entire bridal party burst into the reception room to Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” complete with mustaches, sunglasses and other props- check out the video!

The video from Blue Shore Cinema is simply fabulous:

Congratulations Chrissy and Anthony and thank you for sharing your day with us!
