Jenna and Tyler, high school sweethearts who met in math class, already know one of the secrets to a lasting marriage: change together and you stay together. They also keep playfulness and fun a priority in their relationship. So smart they are!

The Ceremony: When I imagined my wedding day I pictured family and friends celebrating our marriage. However, the day surpassed everything I could ever dream… from the weather, ceremony decorations, reception details, to the last drop of champagne I was awed. I not only was celebrating with my family but surrounded by beauty. When I walked down the aisle and saw the natural backdrop of palm trees and the designed backdrop of flowers and crystals it took my breath away.

The Decor: Entering the reception room for the first time with my new husband simply awed us… we had our reception in a large ballroom and wanted a way to make it more intimate. We decided to drape one entire wall and uplight the whole thing. I believe it really made the room feel magical…I wanted a monochromatic room with small purple details.  My parents then surprised me and had the fabric gather in the middle of the room with 3 chandeliers hanging from it! Beautiful!!!

Favorite Moment: The best moment of our wedding was saying our vows in front of all our friends and family. We had made commitments to each other before, but never as deep, serious, meaningful, and with the support of so many people we love.

3 words to describe your relationship: Committed, communication, and playful

The Honeymoon:  We went to Riviera Maya, Mexico for a week. We stayed at an all inclusive resort called The Valentine Imperial maya. We departed the morning after the wedding and had the most relaxing and fun week.

Congratulations Jenna and Tyler and thank you for sharing your day with us!

Aquamaids from Shabby Apple
categories: bridal fashions, destination weddings and honeymoons

One word: ADORABLE.

Ok, you didn’t really think I could stick to just one word, did you? Aquamaids from Shabby Apple (simply the cutest, most fun, vintage but not sappy vintage, and happiest online women’s apparel site you will ever come across) just released news that their new Aquamaids Swim Wear line will be available March 1st. Every one of these beauties is under $100 and will secure a hot poolside spot for you this summer!

I kind of adore what Shabby Apple has to say about their designs: Each piece is carefully constructed to both flatter a women’s figure and maintain her mystery.

If you live in Arizona, you know how important a good swim suit is and if you plan to “be seen” at any of the valley’s amazing resort pools, you can’t show up in a run of the mill suit. You just can’t. Oh, and if you are headed to a beach for a destination wedding or honeymon…well, you get it.

Shabby Apple, LLC is an American online dress boutique. The company simplifies the dressing process for women by helping them dress for their body shape by providing detailed information on the styles, cuts, and fabrics that flatter various body types. Shabby Apple also suggests different accessories for a single dress to create looks appropriate for various occasions. Indie-prep professionals and hipster moms inspire the dress designs.

Founded in 2006, Shabby Apple launches six lines of dresses a year and is a women-owned and operated, socially responsible company. The owners have partnered with Accion, a non-profit organization in the micro finance industry, to help alleviate global poverty for millions of women and their families.

Wedding Gowns from IDoJour.com
categories: bridal fashions, Giveaways and Contests

A few months ago, we ran a giveaway with Idojour.com and one lucky bride won the stunning Kate and Daisy set. Remember these beauties?

Arizona-Wedding_wedding-accessories_idojour_art deco jewelry

Well, Idojour.com is back with their all new line of wedding gowns and another giveaway!

First of all, I will admit, I was skeptical about a bride’s willingness to purchase a gown that she has never tried on. I can’t even chose a basic t-shirt without hitting the dressing room so a wedding gown? No thank you ma’am. However, I do realize that there’s a whole bunch of gals out there who are looking for something specific AND who are comfortable making online clothing and gown purchases. If you are one of those girls (I already admire your brazen attitude), then you will want to browse the new lines at IDoJour.com. Here’s a taste of the gowns:

When you get to Idojour.com, you’ll see they have a wide selection of accessories that lean towards the Art Deco style and you know we’re fans! (See our Evening with Gatsby party here. It was a study in Art Deco design and accessories!)

Here’s a bit more info from Idojour.com:

The idea behind Idojour.com is to bring the latest high-quality wedding fashions to busy brides. Our brides are  looking for new and unique designs/styles which is what each of our designers brings to the table; these gowns are less traditional which matches with their desire to purchase online rather than go the more traditional route of going to a brick and mortar store. However, what also makes us unique is that the process is still very similar to going to boutique because we work with the brides to select styles suited for their body type, picking an appropriate size and of course delivering a custom gown for a reasonable price.

Once a bride picks a gown all the fine details are worked out (size, any changes, etc.) and then an order is placed with the respective designer to have a custom gown made to fit that particular bride.

We also offer free fabric swatches so that girls can see, touch and feel the fabric/color, as well as $100 towards any accessories

The Giveaway: Idojour.com and Corrine Smith Designs have teamed up to give away this stunning couture headband, Honour. It features a delicate floral and leaf detailed design with gorgeous swarovski crystals, lustrous pearls and sparkling diamantes.

Click this link to enter. Contest ends 3/4/13.

(Please note: this giveaway is not affiliated with Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine or blog)

So there you have it brides- if you want “something different” and ordering online is just your style, go for it!

Real Arizona Wedding: Katie and Brian
categories: real weddings, Scottsdale Weddings

Katie and Brian’s spring wedding at the Hotel Valley Ho was a fun and modern event; the yellow, gray, and white color palette is chic and they hired their favorite band to play at the reception. Katie says, “We hired the DyVerse Band to play at our wedding. Brian and I have spent many a night dancing to this band at Blue Martini, one of our favorite neighborhood places to have a good time. It was a wonderful opportunity to have DyVerse play at our wedding – being able to share something we enjoy together to our family and friends.”

I love how the yellow flowers take center stage in this picture

Favorite Moment: The biggest highlight of our wedding ceremony was having Brian’s six-year-old son (five at the time), Eric, serve as the ring bearer. Watching Eric approach us with the wedding bands, sparkling eyes and the largest smile across his face, was the most heartwarming experience.

Sarah Hagerty put together our table cards, incorporating our favorite photographs from our engagement session. We received quite a few compliments on how lovely, sentimental, and unique our table cards were; a few of them ended up going home with some of our closest guests.

It looks like they had so much fun! Katie tells us, ‘What made our wedding most special was the fact that Brian and I planned everything together (well, with the exception of my wedding dress). It brought us closer together and went a long way in showing us how very meant for each other we really are.”

Beautiful White Weddings
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, from the consultants, photography, reception ideas, Trends, Wedding Inspiration, what's hot in rentals

Does your heart tell you white is the way to go for your wedding decor but your brain is worried that a white wedding will be boring? Just take a look at these gorgeous photos from our styled shoot in our Winter Spring 2013 issue and you will never worry about white again.

The most elegant of all wedding colors, white is anything but plain when paired with sumptuous linens, opulent place settings and a beautiful outdoor setting. Warm neutrals, representative of the desert setting, provide depth in the florals as well as in the vintage-inspired accessories.
Phoenix Bride and Groom_White Wedding_gold_Arizona Grand_lace_babies breath_blush (1)

Table Tops, Etc. details their vision for the shoot:  We wanted to play with subtle tones in creams, beiges, grays, and soft mixed metals to give an antique charm to the table and create a romantic, feminine atmosphere. Gold trimmed family heirloom dishes lent elegance while antique shop cake stands and bird-adorned accessories added a touch of whimsy. We selected balsa wood flowers to bring an unexpected textural element to the floral arrangements.

Stationery designer Amy Wallace of Page & Mason Invitations added interest through texture by hand stitching the paper designs

Set stylist and event coordinator Jennifer Thye of Imoni Events tells us about the glassware and what inspired her for the shoot: The gold details were so much prettier when they had some sort of white dessert. So at the last minute we had the pastry chef fill them with whipped cream topped with caramel, to match the table colors…we found all the white metal and glass pieces at a local antique shop. They were the first items that inspired the overall look of the shoot. I am obsessed with white, and antiques so they were a perfect fit for the shoot.

We love how the shoot turned out and hope you don’t shy away from white; white weddings go from plain to  gorgeous by adding texture and subtle neutral hues.

Destination: South Beach, Miami, Florida
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons

Renovations are a necessary part of the hotel industry and although expensive, when done right, they can create a buzz loud enough to be heard across the country. In this case, Florida’s Ritz Carlton South Beach renovation buzzed loud enough for us in Arizona to perk up our ears and ask “What’s that Florida? A luxury destination resort on the beach in a super hip town AND in the Art Deco District?” Here’s the beautiful answer:

Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (3)

Originally built as the DiLido Hotel in 1953 by Morris Lapidus – the legendary architect of neo-baroque hotels and the “father” of Art Deco- the newly renovated Ritz is spectacular.Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (2)

The hotel’s new look is touted as barefoot luxury, which I can embrace whole-heartedly! Before and after: Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (6) Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (7) Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (5)

I love this description of the design process during the renovation: Opulent walkways adorned with shimmering platinum glazed walls complement aqua-colored, textured carpets with patterns reminiscent of the reflection of light on water. Ocean blue, sea mist green, and coral tones weave throughout beach-inspired textiles, bedding, upholstery, and décor…Sleek and contemporary furnishings, such as espresso-stained bookcases and desks and nightstands with antique rubbed bronze legs, create a living space where fashion meets function. Hanging pendants, orbital lamps, and uniquely shaped lounge furniture play up the circular gestures in Morris Lapidus’ original design approach. Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (1) Ritz Carlton_South Beach_renovation (4)

So go on and get your Art Deco fix in the city that is known for the swanky style!
