Eco Friendly Diamonds
categories: Engagement, Trends, Wedding Resources

Way before the cake cutting and the exchange of vows, even before the invitations are sent and the gown is purchased, you must chose THE ring. That sparkly, awe-inspiring, gorgeous bauble that will adorn your finger for eternity. Considering the average engagement ring in America costs $5,000, it’s a significant investment that requires not only the heart to be engaged but the mind as well.

This is where eco-luxe jewelry from Brilliance comes in- many couples are choosing rings that are not only heart-stoppingly beautiful but are also eco-friendly:

By using 100% recycled gold, platinum, and silver, Brilliance shows their support for ethical standards in jewelry production by decreasing the global demand for newly-mined precious metals. Their recycled metals are gathered from post-consumer sources and are refined back to their original, pure state, so the quality of the pieces they create is uncompromised. Plus, Brilliance wedding jewels come in all price points.

Brilliance offers Canadian diamonds and strictly adheres to the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct, which guarantees every diamond in their inventory is mined and processed in an environmentally and socially-conscious manner. Their diamonds are hand-picked by gemologists and each can be traced back to the region of their origin. They are also manufactured in the United States by master jewelers.

By using recycled metals and conflict-free diamonds from Brilliance in their wedding, brides and grooms will have luxury keepsakes that will last a lifetime and are also good for the environment.

This infographic about choosing your engagement ring from Brilliance is informative and easy to follow:

If you are in search of an engagement ring that is a perfect fit for your style AND ethics, you now have a great eco-conscious option with Brilliance. Their extensive line of designs and custom options ensures you will find that perfect ring, no matter what you are dreaming of!

Engagement: Lynnzie and Matt
categories: Engagement

If you’re into baseball, you’re going to love this engagement session. Heck, if you’re into love, you’re going to love it!

See, Matt plays a little ball here and there…

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Blog_Arizona Engagement_Baseball_Lindstrom_R2 Studio (1)

Ok, you guessed it, Matt looks familiar it’s because he pitches for the Chicago White Sox (one of my personal favorite big cities) and was recently named one of the hottest players of the 2013 season (he’s being acknowledged for his stats but I think Lynnzie would say she’s always known he’s “hot”).

I’m going to hold back on the baseball references but you have to know that not only is Matt fast with a baseball…

How you met: While I working as a travel nurse in Colorado and Matt was playing baseball there for the Rockies, a mutual high school friend gave Matt my number. We talked a little, but never did connect… 7 months later we were both in our home towns visiting family for Christmas and finally met up at my favorite little wine bar… It was game over from there. We got together every night we were there (including Christmas Eve) and I met his family on the 3rd date. A few weeks later it was official!

The Proposal: …it was New Years Eve and I guess he had a big plan to do it at my very favorite romantic place to eat, but he couldn’t wait. He got down on 1 knee and asked me there at our house. I am so very thankful it happened that way. It was so intimate with no one else around and I cried like a baby and was able to fix my make up before we went out and celebrated with friends. It was such a fun night!

Favorite Things:

Lynnzie: His big heart. He is a good man down to the bone and is always wanting to help others out.  Also, he’s extremely witty and there’s never a dull moment.

Matt: She is thoughtful and kind to others and her smile is infectious. She is very driven and makes me feel important and puts our relationship first.

3 Words: Never dull (2 words, yes, but Lynnzie and Matt play by their own rules and I kinda like it!)

Ideal Date: An ideal date night for us is few and far between during baseball season (they usually only have 2-3 off days a month) so it’s nice to just sit down and enjoy a meal together before midnight. If we can find a little spot with great food, great wine and a little band, we’re in heaven.

Lynnzie and Matt, thank you for sharing your engagement session with us and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

Real Arizona Wedding: Caroline and William
categories: cakes and sweets, destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, Scottsdale Weddings, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

I think it’s every bride’s dream to glow on her wedding day and while a beauty team may be able to achieve “glow” status through their expert touches, when a bride glows all on her own, you can see it. That’s Caroline. Yes her skin is perfect, her smile sparkles and her dress is stunning, but…oh,  just take a look!!

Did you see that? The unmistakable glow of a girl about to marry the love of her life. I love it!

Favorite Memory: Our gorgeous ceremony overlooking Paradise Valley. It was so special with our Danish pastor and Bill’s sisters participating….holding Bill’s hands in mine, looking into his eyes and saying “I do” in front of all our close friends and family.

3 Words: Modern, Romantic, Elegant

The Ceremony: I {Caroline} am originally from Copenhagen, Denmark and we were lucky enough to have our Danish pastor come out from California to marry us at the Sanctuary. She incorporated some Danish readings into the ceremony, making it very special for me and our Danish guests who had traveled so far to celebrate with us. Bill’s twin sisters also made the ceremony very special  – one read a special poem and the other played guitar and sang and amazing song.

The Recession: After Bill and I held hands, looked into each others eyes, and said “I Do”, we walked back up the aisle to the Instant Classic’s acoustic guitar rendition of one of our favorite songs – U2’s “Beautiful Day.”

The southern California couple explains why they headed east for their nuptials: We love the quiet of the Arizona desert and the gorgeous views. The Sanctuary Camelback Mountain was the perfect setting for our wedding. The moment we walked onto the property for the first time, it just felt like “us” with its modern mid-century architecture and amazing views of Camelback Mountain from both the ceremony and reception sites.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Real Arizona Wedding_Sanctuary Wedding_Sedona Bride Photographers_Caroline and William (10) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Real Arizona Wedding_Sanctuary Wedding_Sedona Bride Photographers_Caroline and William (11)

The white on white reception decor featured bits of purple all warmed up by candlelight- so lovely! The couple wanted a day that was modern and romantic; they chose gorgeous huge bouquets of white orchids, calla lillies, and hydrangea at both the ceremony and reception and added amazing bouquets of white ostrich feathers to the ceremony chairs which we later placed around the gorgeous all-white cake covered with cascading sugar flowers down the side.

Dinner, on the other hand, was extravagant to say the least. While seated at large feasting tables, family and friends could easily talk to each other while savoring delicious hors d’oevures at cocktail hour including roasted scallops with pancetta, whipped brie on brioche toast with lemon and pear, and curry and mango chicken satay.  For dinner, they were served a butter leaf salad with smoked bacon, spiced pecans and blue cheese, a sorbet intermezzo, and a choice of achiote marinated halibut with grilled corn and chorizo risotto and lobster butter or gorgonzola encrusted beef tenderloin with pancetta, exotic mushroom, and truffled potato cake with cabernet sauce.

Sweetness: …for the last dance, we danced to “Sweet Caroline” surrounded by all our friends and family cheering us on.  It was so much fun and such a special moment.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Real Arizona Wedding_Sanctuary Wedding_Sedona Bride Photographers_Caroline and William (14)

The Honeymoon: St. Lucia at the Jalousie Plantation (now renamed Sugar Beach). It was absolutely gorgeous!! We had our own private little cottage built into the side of a mountain with a gorgeous view of the famous towering Piton mountains and the ocean. We had our own private little plunge pool too. It was heaven on earth!! The resort is really special – the only resort in the world built on a UNESCO World Heritage site.

If you could change 1 thing: I have thought about this many times and always come to the same answer. There is absolutely nothing I would change about our wedding. We put a lot of thought and time into planning all the details and everything turned out perfectly and exactly the way we wanted it. We are really lucky.

Congratulations Caroline and William and thank you for sharing your special day with us!

Wedding Ideas: Just for Fun!
categories: favor and gift ideas, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Since we live, breathe and dream weddings here at Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine, we come across some fun stuff that we would love to see incorporated into a wedding but since we are not planning our OWN weddings, we hope to live vicariously through you, our darling couples. Today’s finds are just for fun and we hope to see them re-appear at a real wedding soon (hint hint)!

These cocktail forks started it all…I love them. I love their size, their chevron pattern, their bright colors, and most of all, how they are a clever vehicle for tasty bites!

I thought I was OVERRRRR mason jars but when used in creative ways, they’re more than just a mason jar. I can appreciate that!

If I could, I would play games in the backyard every day so I’m loving the lawn games couples are incorporating into wedding receptions

Photo Booths have stuck around for one good reason: they’re fun! Since I never quite know what  to do in front of the camera, I like the attitude of these chalkboard photo booth props

And of course, you can always add some fun things for guests to do at the table
