Real Arizona Wedding: Maya and Mike at DC Ranch Country Club
categories: bridal fashions, cakes and sweets, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, videography, Wedding Inspiration

From the sparkly shoes and breathtaking gown to the ultra- feminine bouquet, stylish groom’s attire, pale pink bridesmaid dresses, natural textured linens and mercury glass vases, Maya and Mike’s wedding is modern chic perfection! The fun-loving couple said their “I Do’s” among the dramatic mountain views and desert foliage that is North Scottsdale’s signature landscape; the wedding day was graced  with a touch of luck too- the week leading up to the wedding experienced over 100 degree temps but Saturday brought a cool and breezy 88 degrees- exactly what you wish for in Arizona!

Theirs is a story of flirtation and humor- they met at a Halloween party where Mike made Maya laugh so much that night that it was enough for me to develop a crush and Mike admits to loving Maya’s silly side.

Maya and Mike’s 3 Words for their Wedding: Beautiful, fun, chic

I think this might be one of my favorite pictures from Maya and Mike’s wedding- it has such spirit and joy!

Favorite Things

Maya: His light-heartedness and his ability to make me smile & laugh often

Mike: She can do 1000 things at once and is always finding ways to make our life together better in some way. She’s also pretty cheesy which adds romance that wouldn’t have been there otherwise!

I love how the courtyard at DC Ranch was decorated for the reception- there is an easy elegance that is just so appealing

Favorite memory: So many favorite moments but I would say when we walked in together and saw everyone we love in one place smiling and so happy, it’s an indescribable feeling to have everyone in one place wishing you the best.

Advice: Even though all the planning paid off, there were moments towards the end where I had wished I kept things more simple (and maybe eloped). Until the day of, It was really overwhelming. My advice would be to know upfront how much you’re willing to put into your big day and be realistic. You will want to quit but if you don’t, it will all pay off!

Congratulations Maya and Mike and THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful day with us!

7 Signs of a Modern Groom
categories: Grooms, Wedding Inspiration

Wedding planning has come a long way over the years- wedding coordinators are hired more often, photography has evolved in ways unimaginable, social media has transformed how couples plan their weddings, and most importantly, grooms have established a significant place at the “wedding planning table”. Without a doubt, guys are in on the decision making, the crafting, and the inspiration research.

We love that grooms are so involved in wedding planning so today we take a look at 7 signs that your guy just might be a modern groom. He…

1. cries at the sight of his bride

Wedding Flowers: Out of the Box Design with Brady’s Floral Gallery
categories: floral inspiration, Meet Our Friends, reception ideas, Tips and Advice, Uncategorized, Wedding Inspiration

A wedding without flowers is like a ceremony without an “I Do” and a kiss- you simply must have them! We strongly believe that flowers enhance the atmosphere of your event and showcase your personal style so you can understand why we are baffled when every once in a while we hear a bride say “I just don’t like flowers” or “flowers aren’t a priority for us”. We know that to a certain degree, this is the truth for some people and that’s OK, but for most couples, we think these things are said simply because they haven’t met the right florist.

As important as it is to bond with your coordinator and have chemistry with your photographer, you also need to choose a florist whose style speaks to you.  If you aren’t into traditional wedding decor, you have options, and perhaps the most unique option in Arizona is Brady’s Floral Gallery. Their uber-creative design work graced our pages recently:

Not everything Brady’s designs is super artsy or over the top but it’s always custom and creative, as you can see in these pictures from a recent wedding in Florida, but what we think what sets Brady’s Floral Gallery apart from the other florists is their artistic flair.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Brady's Floral Gallery_wedding flowers (1)

Here’s our Q&A with Brady’s owner and lead designer Lorraine:

Where do you get the inspiration for your designs? My inspiration comes from the bride’s dress, location of the ceremony, and reception space. I always want to capitalize on any decor and/or gardens that are already at the location.

(Image courtesy of: Sierra Blanco Photography, Location: W Scottsdale, Click here for complete credit list)

What floral trends do you see for the Fall wedding season and what styles/designs seem to be fading in popularity? I see more textured bouquets,; coral is very popular and greens. I think sparkles and bling are fading slowly.

What is your “dream bouquet”? My dream bouquet is white peonies with accents of green cymbidium orchids ,with green hypericum berries. I love the contrast between the soft feminine floral and the formal dramatic orchid; the berries will blend them together.

What would you want every bride to know BEFORE she comes in to meet with you? The main thing I really want the bride to be sure to have is #1 her dress (it really tells a story of her style) and #2 location since that sets the tone for the decor.

Brady’s Floral Gallery is located at The Phoenician:

6000 E Camelback Road/Scottsdale, AZ 85251/P: 1-480-945-8776/P: 1-800-782-6508

Here’s a few more beautiful designs from Brady’s Floral Gallery using succulents as seen in another recent issue of Phoenix Bride and Groom

Remember, when planning your wedding, find vendors that are a good fit for your style; Brady’s Floral Gallery is a floral firm that inspires passion in their clients and you never know what truly gorgeous concept they will design just for you!

The Special Touches: Cocktail Hour
categories: reception ideas, trends in catering, Wedding Inspiration

Personally, cocktail hour is one of my favorite times during a wedding (besides the first kiss). I know, you’re thinking it’s because of the drinks, and you’re partially correct (I like me a tasty cocktail, no doubt) but I also like it because everyone is relaxed, the party/reception is just about to start, and it’s light out enough to identify relatives you haven’t seen in years (or is that just a problem with my family?).

Cocktail hour is also the perfect time to let your guests know that no detail has been overlooked- wow them with signature libations, clever signage, fun games, etc. The special touches shine at cocktail hour and today we’ve rounded up some inspiration for yours.

First, set the stage with a cool bar, comfy tables, pretty flowers, and a touch of glam:

Of course there will be cocktails at Cocktail Hour- get creative and have fun!

Cocktail hour is not the time to be serious so offer games and activities for all to enjoy

People LOVE lip readers and tarot card readers- often the readers are eccentric characters whose personalities add to the  fun atmosphere

If you’re serving passed hor d’oeuvres and cocktails, use pretty trays, custom cocktail napkins, and coordinating details! Why not?

Caitlin and Ryan’s Pink Arizona Wedding
categories: cakes and sweets, favor and gift ideas, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

We featured Caitlin and Ryan’s wedding in print recently but there were so many beautiful pink and blush details that we had to circle back to this gorgeous wedding and share even more with you.

Enjoy the ultimate in pink and blush wedding inspiration!

The pale baby pink and subtle blush tones off-set the bright fuchsia to create a dreamy ceremony space

Caitlin’s favorite memory from the day: just after the ceremony ended and Ryan and I had gotten to the end of the aisle and around the corner. I had held back my tears during the actual ceremony (just got slightly teary eyed), but once we were out of the eye of our friends and family, I broke into tears! My happiness overwhelmed me – I couldn’t believe that I had just married the love of my life!

Wedding and event designer Victoria Canada dreamed up this sweet place card display- color coordinating Hershey kisses create a base for clear acrylic panels that hold the cards. Can you imagine the time and attention to detail it took to set this up? It was then converted to a favor display…
