Wedding Inspiration: 12 Gorgeous White Wedding Cakes
categories: cakes and sweets

Although we’ve seen an influx of non-cake offerings (i.e., cupcakes, pastries, pies, cookies, etc) at weddings, we still completely adore a gorgeous traditional wedding cake. And why shouldn’t we? Brides are finding cake designers that “get them” and their style, are creative beyond belief, and know how to make something as delicious as it looks.

Today we are sharing 12 all-white (or almost all-white) wedding cakes that will make you a fan, if you’ weren’t already!

We love an all-white cake with textured and detail, like these 3-D flowers. It’s elegant and modern!

We also really like simplicity in the details- the cactus and hats were a perfect addition to this cake without being overdone

It’s pretty easy to see why we wanted to feature this “Glamhattan” styled shoot on our blog today- besides coming from a fantastically creative group of people, it’s downright pretty and we like pretty. Oh, and it celebrates champagne and all of it’s golden bubbly goodness!

Designed by Andrea Leslie of Andrea Leslie Weddings & Events and Casey Graham of I Do Photography, the inspiration for the shoot came from some of their favorite Kate Spade items.

They wanted to inspire Arizona’s brides to embrace the idea of a wedding as a black tie affair like weddings often seen on the East Coast…You always know when your couple is from the east coast as the guests are dressed to impress and ready for an elegant night. We would love to see more of this out west!! Soho63 was the perfect backdrop for this concept. Their urban location and New York styling really brought the feeling of a glamorous big city affair to life.

The pink “LOVE” sign highlights the gorgeous mantel in SoHo63’s courtyard where many couples choose to say their vows; the letters were actually covered in painted pennies and provided the perfect backdrop to the sweetheart table; stripes and polka dots mingle to make the entire design fresh.

The Piece of Cake masterpiece caught our eye- of course the gold details remind us of champagne but the pink ombre layer and hand-painted gold cap made us just a bit giddy. It’s easily one of our favorite cakes!

The stunning bouquet created by Butterfly Petals consists of bright colored peonies, roses, and gold-painted succulents; the escort cards (which happen to be the designers’ favorite element of the shoot) mimic champagne bubbles too- so fun!

How did you choose the vendors you collaborated with?

We looked for vendors who could embrace the concept and run with it. We provided the color palette and our inspiration board to each vendor. Everyone really dove into the concept and brought fresh and modern ideas. The glittered succulents, bold paper products, polka dot bow tie, gold cake and textured linens all brought the inspiration board to life!

How closely does this shoot fit your personal style?

Very!! We both consider ourselves to have a classic style with touch of glam. A sophisticated and timeless look with unexpected moments.

As far as trends and wedding decor are concerned, what do you hope to see more of in 2014?

We both hope to see more bold colors! Something in contrast to the rustic trend we have been seeing lately. More graphic elements, hard lines, organic elements (think geodes, gems, metals, etc).  The industry is ready for a change and our venues and environment in Phoenix could totally pull off a richer look and feel to create something exciting and fresh.

Thank you Andrea Leslie Weddings & Events and I Do Photography for sharing this gorgeous shoot with us- we’re sure our brides are inspired to sip and design with this East Coast style in mind!

Wedding Inspiration: Green 3 Ways
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, reception ideas, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Spring is the perfect time to brighten things up and we’re sure you are seeing lots of pinks, yellows, and purples in the wedding world. Yes, we also really like those colors but we also LOVE green…it can be so versatile and fresh and it makes us happy.

This photo shoot shows you how green goes well with white, grey, black, and even neutral tones. Enjoy!

Green pops against crisp white and we love how the graphic design on the table linen adds a modern touch to the table; Table Tops, Etc. created a stunning floral centerpiece with a large bamboo stick as an anchor- it’s pretty gorgeous!

Burlap and texture meet succulents and smooth green foliage for a lightened up rustic vibe

The succulent arrangements paired with tropical leaves makes this centerpiece perfect for a destination wedding in Arizona

Green, white, and black are a classic combination that can be made modern in so many ways. This table uses a black and white graphic print runner as a bold statement while the almost delicate floral arrangements keep it soft and inviting.

A Post-Wedding “Vogue” Session
categories: Engagement, photography

View More: http://ther2studio.pass.us/lindseyshelleyvogue

Lindsay and Shelley’s Pinetop engagement session was featured on our blog last summer and since then, they’ve gotten married AND had another photo session! This is their “killer vogue session” as their photographers, The R2 Studio, put it.

We wanted to share this photo shoot with you because the surroundings are unique for an Arizona photo session (we have yet to see another one shot at Goldfield Ghost Town) and Lindsey and Shelley just ooze coolness (is that even a word?). To say we love Lindsey’s braid and Shelley’s teal eyeshadow is a bit of an understatement! And besides, couples who actually follow through with post-wedding photo sessions always love their pictures- they are more relaxed and can have a bit of fun. We know Shelley and Lindsey did. Enjoy…

What inspired this photo shoot?

…it was this amazing opportunity to get dressed up in our wedding gear and a few other cool outfits, get dolled up with gorgeous makeup and hair (compliments of Lenea Sadler Makeup and Yani Rodriguez) and have some fun. I mean, how often do you get to wear your wedding dress?! Most people only get to wear it once – not me! I got to wear mine twice! And maybe even cooler, I actually got married twice to the same person (no divorces in there either!) and I got to wear both of my dresses again – the one from our legal ceremony in San Diego and the one from our ceremony in AZ with family and friends.

…the coolest thing about the short white dress I wore during the shoot is that it’s actually the dress I met Shelley in and then I married her in it in San Diego. Pretty awesome right?!!! Since the vogue shoot was sort of focused around our wedding, Shelley rocked some teal pants (our wedding color) and in the other outfit her teal tie from our wedding.  And don’t forget a pop of teal on her eyes!

Where did the shoot take place?

We took most of our photos at the Goldfield Ghost Town. It’s a super cool little Western town. I’m kind of a country girl and wanted to wear my cowgirl boots so it was the perfect setting for us. It also gave us this opportunity to mix this super cool and kind of modern makeup and hair with an old-fashion setting. The results far exceeded our expectations! We also went back to the Lost Dutchman State park to get a few more pics from our ceremony site.

We’re loving the rustic surroundings juxtaposed with Lindsey and Shelley’s glammed-up style.

One other note about the “vogue session” – it gave us the opportunity to really relax and not feel rushed about the photos – to really just enjoy it and of course hang out more with our good friends R2!

Love the love…this couple knows how to work the camera and still be themselves! This is such a sweet moment.

How has married life been treating you (and the dogs)?

Well, I guess it’s been ok. Just kidding! It’s pretty much been amazing! We love married life, but its really not all that different from life before. But now we have this amazing, forged commitment to each other and we share the same last name and we’re ready to extend our family to more than just furry four-legged babies! Speaking of four-legged babies, our dogs are just as spoiled as ever!

We are so happy for you- congrats! Thanks again to The R2 Studio for sharing this vogue session with us!
