Wedding Cake Inspiration: Cakes That Tell a Story
categories: Uncategorized

The sweetest day should end in the sweetest way, right? Wedding cakes handle that task quite nicely and since 2015 is definitely shaping up to be the comeback year for wedding cakes, we’re sharing some cakes with you that tell their own story.

Cakes that reflect the couple in a distinctive way make for great memories and some of our favorites really allow the personality of the couple to shine brightly. This love story cake really melts our hearts!

We can discern so much about the couple just from their cake- they got married on 3.14.15, are fans of Guardians of the Galaxy, like flowers, and clearly wanted something really unique. Pretty fun, right?

Great Find: Colin Cowie Fine Jewelry at Blue Nile
categories: Wedding Inspiration

Great partnerships lead to great things and in the case of the partnership with international event planner Colin Cowie and online jewelry retailer Blue Nile, those things are sparkly and swoon-worthy!

Available in early May at www.bluenile.com, the jewelry characterizes Colin’s experiential approach to design – being inspired by everything around him – which results in signature touches, brilliant color, and the finest craftsmanship. Each piece is a reflection of Colin’s wedding creations and is intricately designed to ensure it is as meaningful as the occasion it represents.

Colin Cowie’s assortment includes a bridal line of solitaire, halo, and three-stone style engagement rings with matching bands, as well as a fine jewelry line of stud and drop earrings, pendants, necklaces, and bracelets. The collection uses enduring platinum, 18k yellow gold, and 14k white gold, as well as Blue Nile diamonds and gemstones which are among the finest in the world. The jewelry will be available in three unique women’s collections: Eternal, Promise, and Romance, as well as a men’s collection.

What drew us to the collection were the men’s wedding bands- they feature a unique design while maintaining their masculinity

Most of Elisia and Keath’s guests flew in from the East Coast and they thoroughly enjoyed the sun-filled wedding weekend at Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North; the couple incorporated Jewish traditions along with some sentimental touches that made the entire celebration very special.

The fresh color palette of peach, pink and coral was set beautifully against cooler tones of green from succulents and the guys’ blue and gray attire.

As you can see, Elisia has a mega-watt smile and we love it!

Elisia’s gown is so gorgeous! Here’s what she says about the designer: My gown was custom made by Mira Zwillinger, an Israeli designer…the dress was a dream and it was as meaningful to me that it was crafted by someone from the country that is so important to my and my husband’s lives.

Jewish tradition says that the chuppah must have a cover so Elisia used her mother’s lace mantilla veil from her own wedding; We also used my father’s tallis (prayer shawl) in the ceremony. Because my father had passed away just a few years before our wedding, this was an intensely personal, sentimental detail to everyone in our family, and it reminded us all that his presence was truly missed, but he was not forgotten.

Guests dined under the stars by candlelight and indulged in Bluefin Tuna Cannelloni Tar tare with Cucumber Seaweed Salad, Honey-Soy Glazed Chilean Sea Bass and Three Melon Salsa, Wild Mushroom Quinoa Risotto with Truffle Oil, and Buttered Heirloom Carrots. Elisia tells us that she and Keath found the risotto recipe and asked the chef at Four Seasons to make it- he obliged and it was so good it’s now offered on their catering menu!

After our beautifully designed and delicious wedding cake was cut (it was white chocolate raspberry with Chambord and fresh raspberries), it was time to party! We led our guests to Proof bar at the resort, where some serious dancing ensued, beginning with a hilariously choreographed surprise flash mob, led by my sister and the rest of bridal party and joined in by over 40 guests as they serenaded Keath and me to “Say A Little Prayer for Me,” from My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Engaged: Katrina and Greg
categories: Engagement

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engaged_photographer_Hagerty Photography_ASU engagement session (1)

Katrina and Greg were both students at ASU when they met through mutual friends so of course they did their engagement session at ASU’s football stadium! We love their easy going engagement session style and think you will too.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engaged_photographer_Hagerty Photography_ASU engagement session (2)

The Proposal: In early 2014, Greg and I took a vacation to Vancouver, British Columbia. On the last night in town, we enjoyed a nice dinner and walked the city streets. Greg invited me to an outdoor terrace near our room that overlooked the town and we shared a bottle of wine and made small talk. Greg returning to the room for a minute and reemerged on the terrace with a ring. Getting down on his knees (too much wine) he asked me to marry him. With an enthusiastic “yes”, we left for Victoria to enjoy the rest of what would now be known as our engagement trip.

Favorite Things: Our favorite things about each other is that we both really enjoy each other’s company. We have similar taste in music, and we compliment each other well. Greg is very handsome, romantic, and a hard worker, and I’m very caring and compassionate.

How did you choose Hagerty Photography? We are getting married at Tempe Center for the Arts May 30, 2015 and we saw that Hagerty Photography had done a few weddings [there] and we really enjoyed their style. Sarah was also very pleasant when meeting with her for the first time.

Your ideal date night: …going to a nice dinner, drinking wine, and/or going to music venues to listen to great music.

We love these images where Katrina and Greg are so relaxed and happy- exactly how engagement sessions should be!

While Michelle and James’ “Starry Night” inspired wedding was beautiful and full of details that will have you crushing on the blue and yellow color palette, their real wedding post is going to be a bit different. We chose to feature more images of the PEOPLE at this wedding than we ever have before and we chose to do this for one simple reason: the range of real emotion captured throughout the day fills our hearts to the brim with joy. You’ll see exactly what we mean…

Katrina Wallace Photographers explains their photography style: We are moment driven destination wedding photographers based in Arizona…Our style is storytelling, capturing not just what happened on your wedding day, but how your wedding day truly felt. The result is compelling visual narratives that artfully tell the story of your wedding day.

Great Find: Mixteka Music
categories: entertainment, Giveaways and Contests

In the wedding world, there seems to be 3 types of couples when it comes to music at their wedding and once you know which type you are, your chances of changing your mind are pretty slim. There are the band lovers, die-hard DJ fans, and the DIY’ers and while we are huge fans of the band or DJ route, we know that one way for couples to save on their wedding expenses (and truly customize their entertainment) is to handle the music on their own.

If you identify with the DIY music crowd, then Mixteka is a wedding music solution that you’ll want to know about.

Giveaway_Mixteka_wedding music

So what is it? Simply put, Mixteka is a wedding music solution that allows you to invite friends to recommend music, create your own completely custom wedding music list, and play your music selections (and pre-recorded announcements if you choose to use them) at your wedding with just the click of a button on Mixteka’s device. This is such a great option because it frees up your phone and other mobile devices for selfies and videos!

devicepackaging

I received a demo of the product and it was really easy to use, had all kinds of custom options, and was a great way to streamline the music/entertainment process. If you’re a DIY kind of couple and don’t want any glitches, dead iPods, or empty “airtime”, then Mixteka is a music solution that will keep your guests dancing all night!

Are you engaged to be married in Arizona? Then enter our giveaway! Mixteka is offering one engaged couple a complete, all-inclusive wedding package valued at $149. Complete our quick submission form {http://phoenixbrideandgroom.com/giveaways_newsletter.php} by April 30, 2015 to be entered to win.
