Wedding Inspiration: Table Top Decor from NACE Tantalizing Tables’ Event
categories: floral inspiration, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Tantalizing Tables is an event put together annually by NACE Phoenix Chapter and it’s an opportunity for designers to stylize a tabletop and showcase their vision to fellow industry professionals. It’s a rare chance for designers and florists to show off their talents in the way they want to, as opposed to how a client wants them to, and 3 of our Elite Circle members created noteworthy tables that will inspire you. Time to see design through a pro’s eyes!

Amanda Johnson of Butterfly Petals says her table, which we describe as Coachella inspired, is “Bohemian craziness!”. We really don’t care what it’s called, we just like it for the multiple textures and vibrant colors!

Described as a modern and elegant table, BTS Event Management designed a black and white table that suggests an intimate “Wedding in the City”; we really like the 4 layered place settings.

Although not what he planned originally, T Weddings and Events’ lead planner and designer David Twigger styled a gold and slightly avant garde feeling table; he titled it Cloud 9 and certainly guests dining at this table would feel elated.

Today’s lovely couple made a conscious effort to avoid stress on their wedding day (their professions provide plenty of that!) so they did things their own way- they opted out of having a bridal party, chose the bride’s birthday as their wedding day (the bride says, “Why not celebrate two things at once?”), they hired a coordinator to handle all the details, and to keep the guest list meaningful, they only invited people whom had been to their house for dinner. What you’ll discover is that these non-traditional choices merry beautifully with the traditions they did choose to adhere to and the result is an intimate celebration that focuses on the love between the bride and groom and the joining of their families.

The bride recalls, “Our day was everything we had hoped for. It seemed truly about us and our love for each other.”

Amanda Johnson of Butterfly Petals tells us “[The bride’s] vision was a romantic blush and gold wedding. A bit of a departure from our textural desert weddings but I knew it would be a gorgeous one from the inspiration photos her planner provided! We used peonies, hydrangea and blush/taupe quicksand roses and ivory garden roses in her bouquet…”

The groom’s singular request for the wedding was that the wedding venue must have a view so the bride knew Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa was the one as soon as she toured the property!

Favorite moment: My favorite moment was right after walking down the aisle as husband and wife. It was so nice to have that officially done. We got to sit together briefly alone and eat some appetizers and drink champagne. It was nice to have that little relaxation before the reception.

The color palette of gold, blush and pink continued the romance of the ceremony into the reception where guests dined among beautifully set tables; large centerpieces were varied in height and were composed of blush garden roses, quicksand roses and spray roses. Gold framed table names represented locales that the couple holds dear to their heart and the bride and groom were seated at a sweetheart table fitted with soft pink linen and gold backed chairs.

Any surprises or things you would change? I was surprised with a birthday cake! Also my husband’s brothers surprised me with a diamond necklace at the reception. It is customary in my husband’c culture (he is from Afghanistan) for the groom’s family to give a nice peice of jewelry to the bride. I wouldn’t change anything about our wedding day, it turned out perfect.

Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us and congratulations!

Kevin Reed, Your Event Florist owner & lead designer, wanted to create a dazzling floral design that would convey the magic & romance of the Cinderella tale while also translating into modern day…

The stunning table has the luxury of Camelback Mountain as it’s backdrop and a beautiful desert landscape surround; Your Event Florist created the floral cascade centerpiece (which we love!).

The focal point centerpiece draped into a flower cascade, custom designed with White and Blue Hydrangea, White Roses, White Ranunculus, White Dahlias and accented with Ivy. Candles and votives filled the steps with White Dahlia and White Ranunculus accents.

Wedding Advice: Groom’s Regrets and How to Avoid Them
categories: Grooms, Tips and Advice, Wedding Resources

Since your wedding coordinator will see so much more of your wedding than any other vendor you hire (face it, they know EVERYTHING about your wedding whether you want them to or not!), they’re in-tune with you and your guests on a level you may not even realize.

It’s not unusual for a couple to meet up with their coordinator post-wedding to chat about the perfection of the day, discuss surprises or emotional moments, and even admit to lessons learned. Hindsight is 20/20 after all! So in light of this special relationship, coordinators glean important lessons for future couples by learning from their past couples. One such coordinator is Elite Circle Wedding and Event Coordinator Care Schmidt of Sterling Weddings and Events. She chatted with some of her grooms post-wedding about their regrets. Their comments include some valuable lessons for those that follow in their footsteps…

Tips for future grooms from past grooms (via “Okay Ladies . . . it’s the Guys’ Turn!”):

1. I wish we didn’t get married during the peak wedding season. We spent so much more money on everything. Soon after our wedding we realized that we could have spent a lot less if we just would have waited a few months.

2. I wish we would have taken our honeymoon right after our wedding. Our finances were tight and we were so busy with our work schedules so we decided that we would have to take our honeymoon when things slowed down for us. 5 years later things have never slowed down and we never did end up taking our honeymoon. Yes, we have taken trips in the past 5 years, but we never considered one of them our honeymoon.

3. I look back at our wedding pictures and realize that I don’t even know who half the people are! I would have cut down our list to just the people who we have known forever and truly love like family and lifelong friends. So many people were there that we never even saw after our wedding and it makes me regret inviting so many fringe people.

Cheers to 15 Years: Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine’s 15 Year Anniversary Party
categories: cakes and sweets, fabulous reception sites, favor and gift ideas, floral inspiration, from the consultants, Meet Our Friends, photography, reception ideas, Trends, trends in catering, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

If you’re hanging out with us on Instagram or Facebook, by now you’ve seen that we celebrated 15 years in the wedding industry last week with fellow industry professionals and some family members too. It was a big deal for us to mark this milestone and we couldn’t be prouder.

But for you, a bride and/or groom planning your wedding, the real benefit to us “whooping it up” is that you’re going to be inspired for your own wedding! Wedding and event planner Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings and Events expressed during the party planning and set-up that the ideas and decor from the event are all things that are accessible to real couples. The pretty, fun, and delicious things you see from our party are not just available to us exclusively so you’ll be inspired by our gorgeous 15 year anniversary party in ways you never imagined!

Phoenix Bride & Groom Sweet 15

This is the Phoenix Bride & Groom team- we’re a group of sassy, hard-working, and smart women who are led by the best in the industry, Fran Samuel. It was such a pleasure to celebrate 15 years of wedding greatness with her!

The event was hosted by Omni Montelucia Scottsdale Resort & Spa- a resort known for luxury and impeccable service. Guests were greeted by a ballerina at the entrance and cocktail hour was decorated with images of past issue covers, lots of pink sparkle, and of course, cocktails!

Phoenix Bride & Groom Sweet 15

The Alhambra Ballroom at Montelucia was transformed into a pink and white fantasyland decked out with beautiful floral designs, seating in varied heights and shapes, whimsical vignettes, cotton candy martinis, decadent food, an Absolute vodka bar, a champagne fairy, a photobooth, and desserts galore.

The swag bags that our guests received were pretty amazing too! The bag itself makes a fantastic pool tote or travel bag and each was filled with a cake pop, caramels, a choclate covered pretzel, coupons for services from Joya Spa and Drybar, a wine opener, and of course our Summer Fall issue.

Engaged: Kelli and Mike’s Tlaquepaque Engagement Session
categories: Engagement, Sedona

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (1)

It’s funny isn’t it, the power of a photograph? We saw this single image from Kelli and Mike’s Tlaquepaque engagement session and were drawn in. The vibrancy of the sky, bright balloons, twinkling lights strung overhead, and most of all, the couple’s sweetness make for engagement session bliss…you’re going to love the entire session, promise!

How did you meet? We met at St. Mary’s High School in 2001, our Freshman year in our Spanish class. I had just moved to Arizona from North Dakota, and Mike was my first friend. We were best friends all through out high school and college, but didn’t start dating till after we graduated.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (2)

The colorful session is balanced with lots of dark and intimate images too; balloons are fun for engagement sessions but Kelli and Mike maintained a grown-up vibe by not over-using them.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (3)

The Proposal: Mike proposed to me in the same Spanish classroom at St. Mary’s where we first met 13 years to the day of our first class together. It was so sweet!

What’s your favorite thing about each other?

Kelli- My favorite thing about Mike is that he is truly my best friend. We have the best adventures and are so similar we can talk for hours and still have more to say.

Mike- Where to begin!? Kelli is the most loving, compassionate, beautiful, funny person I know. I honestly don’t know how I got so lucky.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (6) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (7) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_engagement photos_Ben and Kelly Photography_Sedona_Tlaquepaque_balloons (8)

How did you choose Ben + Kelly Photography for your e-session? We met Ben and Kelly through our amazing wedding planner Trista Guzman and clicked with them right away. It was honestly like talking to friends, and we felt like they really understood what we were trying to go for. We picked Tlaquepaque Village because there is so much natural beauty in Sedona, mixed with the Spanish vibes of Tlaquepaque which we love we thought it would be the perfect location.

What is your ideal “date night”? Our ideal date night would be to go to a fun local restaurant like Angels Trumpet or Clever Koi and a concert at Crescent Ballroom. Or if we are feeling lazy picking up a pizza and growler from Federal Pizza and binge watching a show on Netflix with our puppy Delilah is always a good time.

Congratulations Kelli and Mike (they got married just a few weeks ago!) and thanks for sharing your engagement with us!
