Melinda and Adam planned a European inspired wedding that went beautifully with the Tuscan architecture of Villa Siena, their wedding venue. An ivory, blush and black color palette with pops of burgundy added to the sophistication of the day.

The burgundy bridesmaid dresses and gorgeous bouquet are perfect for a fall wedding; Melinda looks like a princess!

The ceremony took place in the courtyard and featured garland on the mantle that was designed by the groom’s cousin- it made for a beautiful backdrop to the couple’s I Do’s

The ballroom at Villa Siena is quite famous for it’s grand scale- it is truly a unique venue for Arizona. The couple used black linens and silver napkins for a polished look while a custom menu and French macarons added a European touch. Melinda and Adam’s first dance was to Elton John’s “Your Song” and in the spirit of family tradition, they invited the entire room to join them for the last half of the dance.

It’s pretty safe to say we adore every cake from Piece of Cake Desserts and this 4 tier beauty is no exception. The alternating texture layers and burgundy flowers make it irresistible!

Engaged: Lacey and Jonathan’s Engagement Session In Sedona
categories: Engagement

Lacey and Jonathan couldn’t be more photogenic- even in their moments of laughter (which can be a photographic challenge for many couples) they look adorable – and their chosen location makes their Sedona engagement session even more perfect. Join this cute couple and Elite Circle photographers Holley Photography along West Fork Trail for a lovely little engagement session!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding blog_Holley Photography_Engagement session_Sedona_Lacey adn Jonathan (1) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding blog_Holley Photography_Engagement session_Sedona_Lacey adn Jonathan (2)

How They Met: Even though their paths nearly crossed a few times prior, they eventually met through Facebook in 2011 due to their shared love of soccer and Jonathan’s “trolling” skills- ha ha! Good thing Jonathan invited Lacey to a pick-up game (and thank goodness she accepted).

Favorite Things: Our favorite thing about each other is our share of interests and values like soccer, family, and friendships, while still having completely different individual personalities. We balance each other out while doing the things that we love together.

The Location: Sedona is our favorite place in AZ! We have gone there many times for day hiking trips and getaways. We even considered having our wedding there. We heard about West Fork Trail and went to scout the area a couple of weekends before our session with Holley Photography. We loved the many different scenes on the trail with the mountains, bridge, grassy field, old worn-out house, and the creek in the red rock. It is now a place we can revisit and hike down memory lane forever!

See their complete and utter cuteness, even when caught mid-laugh? Adorable.

The Perfect Date Night: We are extremely busy people so our ideal date night is cooking and eating dinner together then curling up and watching movies with some dessert (normally ice cream).

Sedona provides some unbelievable scenery for photos- the greenery is so lush it makes for lots of “stolen moment” images!

About Holley Photography: Lacey and Jonathan won an engagement session from Holley Photography while attending the Arizona Bridal Show. They quickly became fans during their session: We absolutely love the work that Holley Photography did! Working with Shayne and Des was so natural and they made us enjoy our day so much! We were an even happier couple after our experience with them.

Wedding Inspiration: Black and White Wedding Stationery Suite
categories: reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, the paper chase, Tips and Advice, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Black and white weddings have an irresistible and classic appeal- the color combo is a neutral base from which a couple can add whatever pops of color they want while making all the details at a wedding coordinate. Various patterns and textures of black and white can be introduced and when it comes to the stationery suite, couples who start with black and white have endless opportunities to design their wedding day.

We saw this amazingly creative and thorough stationery suite designed by Elite Circle stationer The Event Essentials and knew we had to share it with you. You’re going to love all the ways this couple used black and white stationery and paper products at their wedding.

The Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia provided a beautiful backdrop to the couple’s custom designs

Any opportunity to personalize the wedding was used to the fullest extent and the lounge was no exception

3 details that caught our eye:

-The signs for the appetizers that hung from the trays- we appreciate knowing exactly what is being served and the signs save the waiters from having to repeat the names of each appetizer

-The Electric Shirley cocktails that did double duty as place cards- they added a touch of fun while being useful

-The custom printed napkins held by servers while standing at each coordinating table- the napkins indicated the table number for guests. It was first class all the way!

See what we mean by thorough? Every moment of the wedding was beautifully designed including the door hanger for the honeymoon suite!

We’re pretty sure Sabrina and Ben, whose wedding was at the hip and historic SoHo63 in downtown Chandler, laughed their way through their wedding day. Yes, there were sentimental moments too, but their lighthearted demeanor is infectious!

The Wedding Style:vintage and modern with a touch of elegance and simplicity throughout. We wanted a small intimate setting complete with family and close friends…we chose vendors that aligned well with the “family feel” of our wedding day.

How They Met: The busy couple, both of whom worked night shifts, met on eHarmony. They didn’t live near each other at all (one was in Arizona, one was in Michigan) but managed to fall in love despite the miles between them and knew they had something special

The Colors: Royal blue was complimented by soft neutral tones and light blue; Ben and his brother attended rival universities (Michigan State and Michigan) so they use any opportunity to show their school pride (and keep the rivalry alive!).

The couple loves IPA’s and beer & wine tasting so they knew they wanted to incorporate San Tan Brewery into their wedding; the brewery catered the reception and the couple couldn’t have been happier!
Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Blog_Real Wedding_outdoor ceremony_Monique Hessler Photography_SoHo63_wedding venue (10)
The courtyard at SoHo63 is so versatile- it serves as an outdoor wedding ceremony site, cocktail patio, and of course, photo locale!

The Sweets: Cupcakes and a sweet single tier cake were displayed alongside a groom’s cake which was decorated with decals of all the pro Michigan teams along with Ben’s alumi.

Sweetness: Some of my favorite things about Ben are his caring heart, he is so genuine, humble, gorgeous. He does so many great things for other people and he never asks for anything in return. He has such drive, ambition, and determination, it is contagious. He is the best friend anyone could ask for, he is always my number one fan, he is the calm to my storm. I am a worrier and stress about everything. He has a way of holding me in his arms and making the world go away.

Sabrina’s kindness, willingness to put others before herself, loyalty, faith, beauty…who am I kidding? I love everything about her… we are just the amount of opposite to make us perfect for one another.

Favorite Moment: Our favorite moment(s) were just being able to both be so relaxed- everything just fell into place. We loved that our wedding was family oriented and we truly got to spend time with all of our guests which made it so much more special.

Congratulations Sabrina and Ben and thank you for sharing your wedding day with us!

Great Find: Weybridge 1761 Bow Ties and Neckties
categories: bridal fashions, Grooms

Earlier this year, we introduced you to Beau Ties, Ltd. of Vermont and grooms all over Arizona loved the large selection of fabrics, the quality of the ties, and the custom swatch service for grooms. Well, Beau Ties, Ltd. has created another way for guys to get the ties they love at the quality they expect at a not-so-spendy price. The newest collection of bow ties and neckties is offered by Weybridge 1761 and their ties, which are only $17.61 until 2016, are a “fresh take on traditional standards”!

We checked out Weybridge 1761 online- we actually have several of the ties in our hot little hands- and were instant fans but we had to get more info (because you know how we love that!), so we chatted with David Mutter, owner of Beau Ties, Ltd. and Weybridge 1761.

You listened to your customers about wanting a lower priced option. How do you see the two companies working together?
DM: We focus on making great ties. The reality is some of our clients – many of whom have shopped with us for nearly 25 years – are at a place in their lives where they can afford a bespoke, handmade tie. Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont is the perfect choice. They are exquisite ties. Others are just starting out and prefer a more palatable price point. Both labels far exceed their target market expectations and we’re so pleased with the results.

Phoenix-Bride-and-Groom_ties_Weybridge-1761_grooms-attire-_necktie_bow-tie-1 copy

How do you compare the 2 labels?
DM: As the proud father of two boys, my wife and I learned long ago never to compare our two children. They’re both wonderful! The same is true for our two labels – Beau Ties Ltd. of Vermont and Weybridge 1761. Regardless of the brand, we don’t cut corners and we don’t skimp on fabric. We’re always true to our roots regardless of the label.

Now yes, it’s true, we’re launching the Weybridge line at an unbelievable price – just $17.61 for any necktie or bowtie. An amazing value. If we sold the line at retail — which we will someday — it would be a $75 tie. However, we elected to launch the line directly to customers. No spokesperson. No stores. No added expense. From our shop to your home, we designed Weybridge to deliver affordable quality every time.

If you compare the Weybridge brand to others will you notice a difference? Absolutely. The craftsmanship on theWeybridge label is better than our competitors. All we do is make ties. For us, it’s never a line extension or an afterthought. I say it all the time, ties are our passion and we’re very good at it.

What are your favorite ties from Weybridge 1761?
Two of my favorites are Londonderry Silver ( it’s a deep rich classic tie that transforms a black tie event without being silly) and Richmond Pink (it’s traditional design is accented with just the perfect taste of cheeky pink fun).

Grooms and groomsmen, now is your chance to get a superior quality tie at a really nice price. Shop Weybridge 1761 ties online and tell them we sent you!

Family First: For their wedding, Alyssa and Nick wanted a day that was about them as a couple as much as it was about the people who knew them throughout the 6 1/2 years they dated and supported them in their relationship. Family and friends came from near and far to celebrate their I Do’s and were treated to a classically beautiful wedding day that put family and tradition in the forefront.

Thoughtful Details: Alyssa used her mother’s pearls and vintage purse for her “something old”, the “something new” was a special perfume purchased by her mother, her grandmother’s wedding handkerchief and mom’s veil (wrapped around her bouquet) were the “something borrowed” items, and Nick’s grandmother’s rosary was the “something blue” piece.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (2) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (3)

The Colors: Our color scheme was Navy, ivory/cream, and gold with accents of other neutrals and pinks. We wanted to keep our décor classic and clean without going the traditional black and white.

How They Met: Nick and I met at Arizona State freshman year through our mutual friends that lived across the hall from me. I remember telling my roommate about him and after I found out he played basketball, I challenged him to a game asap. We loved doing a lot of the same things and are both active and love sports. We spent (and spend) a lot of time together hiking, long boarding, playing basketball, etc. He says he knew he wanted to marry me when I yelled at him for changing the channel when a football game was on. I knew I wanted to marry him when I saw him with our families and how much of a family man he is.

Nick’s parents gave the couple several family heirlooms along with informational cards that explained the significance of each heirloom and to whom it belonged in the family- what an incredible way to honor the past and all that the idea of “family” encompasses.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (5)

The First Look: We knew we wanted a first look from the get go. We both wrote letters to each other, so it was the perfect time to read our letters and have a moment alone together. I also liked having family pictures prior to the ceremony. Not only because my hair and make-up were fresh, but because we were able to spend time with the people closest to us before we got swept away by our other 140+ guests during the reception.

We love the idea of having some time together before the ceremony and the addition of the letters makes it even better!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (6) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (7)

The Flowers: Our flowers included peonies, renunculus, white anemone (with navy centers), and blush astilbe

Favorite Moment: My favorite moment was walking down the isle and seeing Nick’s face. I nearly forgot there were other people surrounding us. It was such a surreal moment and one I will never forget.

The Reception: Our first dance was to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight” and our cake cutting song was “Sugar” by Maroon 5, one of Nick and my favorite songs (Maroon 5 should have crashed our wedding!)

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (17) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_real wedding_navy_pink_Amy and Jordan photography (18)

Advice:  If you can avoid it, don’t plan an out-of-town wedding during your first year of medical school Haha but really, I would tell couples planning their wedding to enjoy every single moment, even the things that seem annoying or monotonous. Try not to look at it as a long list of tasks or never ending appointments, but a time you get to plan the best party ever. It was such a great time to spend together as a couple and with everyone that had a hand in helping us plan the big day. I feel even closer to my Mom, sister, sister-in-law and close friends going through the fun process and events of planning a wedding (cake tasting, wine tasting, dress shopping, even picking out linens)… I would encourage all brides to set their expectations with their contacts early to make the planning stress free and full of fun.

Any Surprises? A very pleasant surprise while planning was finding some beyond amazing vendors. I was completely new to the wedding industry and had no idea how awesome and fun photographers, videographers, make-up and hair artists could be! They seriously made our wedding day SO much fun and I wanted them to stay for the party after.

Congratulations Alyssa and Nick and thank you for sharing your gorgeous wedding day with us!
