categories: favor and gift ideas

We’ve told you about Mighty Purse from HButler before but the company has recently expanded their line of smart purses and we had to share them with you. One reason we love Mighty Purse so much is that they make the perfect gift for your bridesmaids – not only are they useful and pretty, the Mighty Purse features a concealed slimline battery to charge your Smartphone on the go– which means your entourage will never have a dead cell phone again!

We use the wristlets ourselves so we know how well they work, how perfectly sized the wristlet is, and how much our friends want them.

Most of Allison and Ian’s family and friends traveled from out of town for their Arizona wedding so the couple really wanted to share what they love so much about the state with them; the golf course at McCormick Ranch Golf Club and the mountain views, made even more beautiful by a gorgeous sunset, were exactly what the couple wanted their guests to experience.

Wedding Style: Our inspiration for the wedding was “southwest desert chic,” with the bridal party in grey tones, and accents of cactus green and coral.

Something Old, New, Borrowed & Blue: …fulfilling two categories- old and borrowed- was an antique necklace that women in my mom’s family (including my mom and Grandmother, both in attendance!) have been wearing on their wedding days since 1854 (pre-Civil War!), almost 161 years to the day of our wedding. We incorporated it woven into the handle of my bouquet, along with my something new. Originally intended to be my something borrowed, my cousin who just got married in March of this year, was going to loan me a locket pendant with my paternal Grandmother’s picture on it that she’d carried in memory of Grandma on her wedding day. Instead she and my aunt made me my own, inscribed on the back “Grandma, Today you are with me in my heart” along with our wedding date. I cried when I opened it at my bridal shower. Blue was in the bows on my garters!

The Venue: One of our favorite activities to do together as a couple is golf so the venue captured a little bit of our heart as well. Along those lines, a highlight for Ian was golfing on the wedding day. To avoid the “hurry up and wait…..and wait…..and still waiting” that guys usually experience at weddings, Ian and his groomsmen, our dads, and a few close friends took in a friendly scramble the morning of the wedding at McCormick Ranch.

You know from the huge smile on Allison’s face that her wedding was the perfect day; her bouquet of garden roses, succulents and leafy greens match the cheerful spirit of the day.

Escort cards placed in individual succulent pots did double duty as quintessential Arizona wedding favors- guests were able to take a bit of the desert home with them!

We absolutely loved the grand entrances- everyone seemed to be having such a good time and they didn’t hold back on the fun at all!

Favorite Memory: Our favorite moments of the day were our toasts, the most memorable of which was an epic 7-minute song medley by my two best friends and Maids of Honor. We laughed and danced the whole time! One of my MOH’s actually lived with me out here in Phoenix for 3 years, so she had a front-row seat to our relationship, before we started dating when we were just friends and coworkers at the Phoenix Suns, and as it developed…..so they absolutely nailed our story. They stole the show!

Allison and Ian left among a shower of sparklers but, oops, they forgot to arrange for transportation for the end of the evening! Luckily one of Allison’s bridesmaids is a quick thinker and she arranged for Uber to pick the couple up and deliver them to their bridal suite. Thanks goodness for besties!

Sweetness: It was a week filled with love, laughter, and so much fun! It sounds so cliche, but everything was absolutely perfect, and we wouldn’t have changed a thing! We felt so blessed by friends and family that came to celebrate with us, and those that sent well wishes from afar, and were a part of our day.

Allison and Ian, thank you for sharing your wedding with us and congratulations!

Wedding Favors: Annie B’s Caramels
categories: cakes and sweets, favor and gift ideas

Recently, we were lucky enough to experience first-hand the unbelievable deliciousness of Annie B’s Caramels. You already know we’re huge proponents of edible wedding favors (honestly, who needs another mini picture frame or seashell soap???) so Annie B’s was spot on by sending us their gooey, buttery, and rich caramels. They generously sent us a tin for our enjoyment and we recommend you go ahead and get one for yourself but for your wedding favors, Annie B’s offers adorable 10 piece gift bags.

Trust us, your guests will heart them (the caramels have little to no chance of lasting beyond the ride home) and you’ll be remembered for giving wedding favors that everyone loves rather than pretends to love!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_wedding favors_Annie Bs Caramels_edible favor_wedding gift

Here’s the big daddy tin of caramels; ours came with chocolate, original and sea salt. Sea salt was a favorite among the adults in our house- it actually has delightful flakes of sea salt throughout- and the kids loved the original flavor. They’re probably hoarding some in their rooms right now!

One of the secrets to Annie B’s perfect flavor is that the owners promise to maintain the cozy family-owned culture and careful small-batch cooking that make Annie B’s caramels and popcorns so delicious. The story about how Annie B’s current owners acquired the company is the cutest…read about Tom & Carol and Amanda & Justin right here.

There’s not much more to say about Annie B’s other than, ORDER YOURS NOW!!! Did we shout that at you? Oh yes, we sure did.

Arizona Wedding Event: Phoenix NACE Fundraising Event
categories: bridal fashions, fabulous reception sites, Meet Our Friends, Wedding Resources

While you may not be interested in working in the wedding industry after you’ve said I Do, you might be interesting in the good things that the people you hired for your wedding do when they’re not “working”. The Phoenix chapter of NACE (a professional catering and event industry group) hosts a yearly Arizona fundraising event called PROJECT NACE: Creating Fashion for a Cause and it’s the most creative fundraiser in Arizona! It’s also a ton of fun.

Many of our Elite Circle wedding professionals participate in this fundraising event because they believe strongly in the charity it benefits, the Chrysalis Foundation, which services the needs of women, children and men throughout the Valley who are trying to break the cycle of violence and abuse and they welcome the opportunity to show off their creative chops. This year the fundraising event was held at the W Scottsdale– take a look at some of the fashions created by Elite Circle members:

Pixy Cakes is heating up the runway with this Pixy design! For this dress they took the opportunity to make their Pixy come to life. The wings are made from shaped metal and cloth and the trim is lined with cupcake wrappers. The top corset is fully covered in cupcake wrappers and fondant flowers.

Seville Golf & Country Club, Anthem Golf & Country Club, Oro Valley Country Club and Gainey Ranch Golf Club bring you a true hole-in-one dress- the beautiful ClubCorp model struts the runway in high fashion encompassing a Day on the Green. A beautiful birds nest head piece accessorizes this gorgeous scalloped sweetheart neckline with scorecard bodice. Make your way down the fairway to an A-Line astro turf skirt comprised of an 18-hole golf course with sand bunkers and pin flags. The beautiful tulle train with golf balls and tees adds drama while complementing the golf and leisure inspiration. No bogies here, it looks like there’s a new Golf Pro in town!

JBarry Designs made table linens out of Phoenix Bride & Groom Magazine pages for the festive fundraising event! We were so honored to be included in this event.

Sweets for the Sweet… This gown designed by Kick Ass Kakes and Vermilion Events is a black and white illusion neckline dress, with hand piped licorice design, studded with silver dragees and fondant sequins. Finished at the bottom with hand cut plastic wrap “feathers”. This creation is meant to inspire both the wearer and all who see it, and remind us all that sweet does have a seductive side.

Chateau Luxe is staying true to its brand with this spectacular custom designed chandelier gown. These crystals are from the very chandelier that hangs in the grand foyer of Chateau Luxe. This dress, like the venue itself, is sure to bring a modern ode to decadence and luxury to your next event!

Encompassing the W brand’s passion for Fashion, Music and Design, this dress includes elements from the world of jetsetting DJs and architectural pieces taken from the very walls of the W hotel. Represented is the glitterati of the animal kingdom—the peacock…along with their softer side found in exotic silk florals. Bound together with shredded stereo cords, acrylic mesh and metal bunting, this flirty number is your whimsical escape to the ultimate mingle.

This is our creation! Ripped from the pages of magazines….literally! The team at Phoenix Bride and Groom Magazine have created this fashion forward dress made from their publications of the last 15 years. This year’s look is inspired by a dress seen in a trendy New York window display. The entire dress is constructed of pinwheels made out of magazine pages and chards of tulle. And of course, she wouldn’t be complete without the colorful pinwheel hair accessory. This dress truly displays how great it is to be a part of the Elite Circle!

Wedding Trend: Drone Film Footage from Serendipity Cinematography
categories: Trends, videography

By now you’ve seen or at least heard about drones, right? Well, it was only a matter of time before cinematographers started using them at weddings. That’s right, professional video/cinematographers are actually using drones at weddings! Since we like to get the full story on any new wedding trend, we asked Elite Circle cinematographer Serendipity Cinematography about this cutting edge technology that is starting to be a popular trend in the wedding world.

Before you jump in and decide you MUST have drone footage at your wedding, though, there are a few things you need to know. Serendipity owner Taryn Bills shares her knowledge about this new and exciting technology:

We always want to be on the cutting edge of technology so we wanted to integrate it {drone footage} into our wedding films. It offers such a cool element to our films and really allows us to take things up yet another notch.

The challenge is that the ability to fly the drone depends on many factors on a wedding day with the biggest one being weather. If there is a lot of wind it is a no go and since we can’t predict those conditions, it’s currently not something you can specifically hire us for. We fly it when possible.

Serendipity Cinematography is known for their diligence when it comes to adopting any wedding trend- they’re always on the cutting edge- but they are also dedicated to safety so they made sure the film crew was properly trained. Because we need to consider people’s safety first, we actually hired someone to come out and train us on how to properly fly the drone. You could really hurt someone with one if it crashes so we have taken the time and money to make sure we are well practiced. We spent weeks flying it before we brought it to a wedding. And we fly it only for establishing shots or pre-ceremony shots. We never fly it when people are around for safety purposes and noise purposes. Yes, they are loud!

Interested in having Serendipity Cinematography film your wedding? Connect with them online or call (602) 380 3869

Engaged: Samantha and Austin’s Arizona State University Engagement Session
categories: Engagement, Wedding Inspiration

Let’s just get the obvious out of the way: Samantha and Austin are CUTE. Soooo cute. Like, they have great style, their hair is perfect, & they can work the camera cute. The fact that they’re ASU alumni who chose to return to the place where they met for their engagement session makes us love them even more. Enjoy this sweet love story and tour of ASU’s campus!

How they met: The couple met their Sophomore year at Arizona State University through a mutual friend. They all went out one night but Austin’s shyness ALMOST led Samantha to start dating his friend. What’s really sweet is that Austin thought he was flirting with Samantha that evening! Not too long after that first meeting though, Samantha and Austin’s stars aligned and they started dating.

Ideal date night: Our ideal date would obviously be a Sun Devil football game, followed by dinner at any place with great calamari or spinach and artichoke dip. 🙂

Austin and Samantha fit together perfectly and you can tell in their photos- they’re so easy going with each other and aren’t at all concerned about the camera.

The Proposal: Samantha was going with Austin to what she thought was a surprise party for Austin’s aunt at a resort in Laguna Beach but it turned out to be their engagement party! She recalls: Austin and I showed up “early” and decided to walk around the resort. Austin had been to the resort before so he wanted to show me a beautiful area. When we sat down at a bench with an amazing ocean view at the end of the resort grounds, we chatted for a while about nothing in particular. Austin then told me that he loved me and that I was his best friend. It was sweet but not unusual so our conversation continued. After he said it TWO MORE TIMES, he finally stood up and got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cried hysterically and said “what?!” over and over before finally saying yes. He surprised me again by revealing that both of our families and closest friends were there to celebrate with us.

Favorite things:

Samantha’s favorite thing about Austin is his sense of humor and laid back, positive attitude. He makes even the most menial tasks fun and exciting.

Austin’s favorite thing about Samantha is her sense of humor and how she can always make him laugh. She knows how to cheer him up no matter the situation.

Not only did Austin and Samantha have some nicer outfits planned for their engagement photos, they also brought a Sun Devils pitchfork prop and ASU t-shirts to the shoot. School pride always makes for fun photos!

Palm Walk is an iconic place on the ASU campus- it runs right through the center of everything and the towering palm trees make it a favorite spot for photos.

Congratulations Austin and Samantha and thank you for sharing your engagement photos with us! Go Devils!
