Real Arizona Wedding: A Gold New Years Eve Wedding

Kathleen and Nathan’s gold New Years Eve wedding is all you would hope for in a New Years Eve party plus a little extra with the I Do’s. There’s lots of sparkly gold and black details, an atmosphere of lighthearted and romantic fun and a “mix your own confetti” bar. Oh yes, you’ve got to see this!

We love how the bride describes her wedding: My husband and I like to joke that attending our wedding probably felt as though Kate Spade herself was attending a New Year’s Eve party hosted at Disneyland. That is, if Disneyland were set in a mod southwestern hotel, in the early 1920’s. We were inspired by many different facets- our obsession with fairytale romance and the richness and warmth that a golden color palette can bring paired with a little Gatsby, a little Disney, and a whole lotta’ love.

Candlelit and intimate, the ceremony had to be moved indoors since the weather didn’t cooperate. A giant gold sign was hung as a backdrop to the couple’s vows and Kathleen’s “Pepa” (grandfather) officated.

Cocktail hour continued the gold New Years Eve theme with champagne shaped chocolates, customized gold glitter fortune cookies and black and gold noisemakers that were used as escort cards. The reception was in a ballroom that was lit with 180 black taper candles- they highlighted the gold sequin table runners which were handmade by the mother of the groom and many sparkly gold details throughout.

The confetti bar made certain that this was a festive New Years Eve!

Not only was this a gold New Years Eve wedding, it was also a Disney inspired New Years Eve wedding! The couple displayed some nostalgic Disney memorabilia at the reception and gifted Little Golden Books as favors; they hand-selected 4 of their favorite fairytales and attached a tag with a sweet message in the hope that guests would see the books as a token of remembrance not only for the wedding but the idea of love and magic in every day life.

Of course there was confetti EVERYWHERE but Kathleen and Nathan’s gold New Years Eve wedding wouldn’t have been complete without it!

Wedding Inspiration: A Retro Winter Party
categories: reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

We have the sweetest little retro winter party for you today that is the perfect design inspiration for a sweetheart table, engagement party, wedding shower, or intimate wedding reception.

The fresh and bright color palette incorporates teal, white and silver; we are just a bit in love with the sweet little squirrel that’s taken up residence at this winter party!

Fun details like the coordinating place mat and menu that feature a teal bubble graphic are especially groovy while the silver bell, napkin ring, charger, flatware and tree make it classic and sparkly. We adore the snowy white woodland elements that remind us this is definitely a winter party.

White hydrangea in a teal vase make for a simple and pretty centerpiece while teal and silver ornaments make the table pop with festive winter party color

Erin and Jason’s New Years Eve Wedding wasn’t just about the date- their personal style and their intention behind their wedding location and details make it the best kind of New Year’s Eve wedding you could ask for. Well, and the fact that there was a “club” reception!

Erin explains: Our goal was always to create a enchanted, unforgettable and fun party for our guests. New Year’s brings its own magic including Celebration, Reflection, Renewal and New Beginnings. And we chose this day because we knew without a doubt that our guests would be down to party- we like to party!

We get the feeling that Jason and the dog are best buds, like, for real.

Erin’s Southwest inspired bouquet was comprised of Veronica, air plants, silver dollar eucalyptus, lotus pods, ostrich feathers, fern curls, statice, and mint; she didn’t want a bouquet that was uniform in structure- instead she wanted it to match her vision of a New Years Eve wedding that was ethereal with a feeling of cohesive chaos.

New Years Eve Wedding Ceremony: The Magic started early when we found out it would be the coldest day of the year in Scottsdale (and maybe even in a decade). We saw rain, fog and eventually snow but that didn’t stop us. We tented the ceremony lawn last minute and included warm hot toddies, heaters and shawls to keep our guests comfortable.

New Years Eve Wedding Cocktails and Dinner: Cocktail hour included Simply Three Trio rocking the Beatles, Coldplay and Soundgarden while dinner had a lot of lush greenery, candlelight and well thought out food stations, each an ode to a city we hold dear: Venice Beach Taqueria, Windy City Sliders, Big Easy Chocolate Bar (no cake, we LOVE CHOCOLATE)!

New Years Eve Wedding Reception & PARTY: What would a New Year’s Eve wedding be without a legit party? After dinner, guests were on the move when we opened the doors to the “Club Millz After Party” which ushered guests down a red carpet towards a bouncer checking ID’s. Think: “Grandma, you don’t look 21”! As a surprise to our guests, we DJ’ed from 11 to midnight, announcing the New Year with those we love surrounding us in celebration!

As you can tell, Erin and Jason’s New Years Eve wedding was a crazy good time. The party kept jamming until 2AM… guests could sit on plush lounge chairs or get up and dance on the light up (think Saturday night fever) dance floor! We passed out masquerade masks just before mid-night, an ode to the city where we met, New Orleans.

Suzanne and Ray’s intimate wedding at The Phoenician was so much fun- their pups hung out with them (and stole the show at the ceremony), 38 of their favorite people joined them, and Ray and Suzanne had a blast. An intimate wedding allows couples to focus on details in a way that larger weddings don’t and for this reason, Suzanne and Ray enjoyed every bit of their wedding day.

3 Words: Garden, intimate, elegant

The Wedding Color Palette: Nude, pale pink and silver… I wanted everything dreamy, romantic and sparkly.

Isn’t Ray’s reaction to Suzanne during the first look priceless?!

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony: Flowers, twinkle lights and candles everywhere…and it was at sunset. My brother married us, and we only had two bridesmaids and groomsmen, our closest friends. The flowers were cabbage roses, peonies, dahlias, all in white and shades of pink. We had an empty chair for my mom, who passed away, with her picture and flowers on it. I walked down the aisle to Sweet Child of Mine, and our dogs were our ring bearers. They were the best part of the ceremony! Our vows were very special too, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

An Intimate Wedding Reception: We opted out of a traditional reception and and instead did a five course dinner for everyone at J&G Steakhouse at The Phoenician- we really wanted to keep things intimate. We had sequined linens and menus that matched and also sparkled. On the back of the menus we put a picture of ourselves and a special note to our guests.  It’s one of my favorite details.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_intimate wedding_The Phoenician_Ben and Kelly Photography Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_intimate wedding_The Phoenician_Ben and Kelly Photography

Since the vibe was a purposefully small and intimate wedding, the couple could focus on details like a flower tucked into each napkin, unique centerpieces, and lots of sparkle along with a personal note of thanks.

The Wedding Favors and Cake: Macaroons were take away gifts and our cake was simple but gorgeous. It was a beautiful night all around.

Wedding Colors: Pink and Blue from our Summer Fall Cover Shoot
categories: bridal fashions, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, Grooms, health and beauty, Meet Our Friends, photography, Trends, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

Somehow, we always manage to be just one step ahead of the wedding trends- particularly when it comes to wedding colors – and while you may not have noticed it, our Summer Fall 2015 cover was way ahead of the trends (certainly you’re aware that the 2016 “Color(s) of the Year” have recently been declared as pink and blue, right?)!

We begin with the incomparable “Papillon” gown by Ian Stuart. The soft pink and blue petal decorations make it completely unique and the jacket and veil take it to a whole other level. You don’t have to choose blue and pink for your wedding colors to wear this gown from Mariee Bridal- it could be just enough all on it’s own!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_wedding colors_pink and blue_Katrina Wallace Photography_Four Seasons Scottsdale (1) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_wedding colors_pink and blue_Katrina Wallace Photography_Four Seasons Scottsdale (2)

Speaking of wedding colors, how handsome is this guy in his blue Ted Baker suit and pink shirt?

Tiffany & Co. jewelry is always a good choice

This cover shoot was our 15th Anniversary issue so of course we had to get some champagne flowing!

And here’s the cover! If you’re inspired to choose pink and blue as your wedding colors for your wedding in 2016, you’re welcome for the inspiration! It will be fun to see how what our magic crystal ball tells us for 2016’s wedding colors…
