Top Picks from Bridal Market’s Fall 2016 Wedding Gowns
categories: bridal fashions, Trends

What did we notice during the Spring 2016 Bridal Market in NYC a few weeks ago? Lots of color, texture, sparkle and flirty layers! We handpicked a few of our favorite Fall 2016 wedding gowns from the runways that exude the glamour, high fashion and femininity brides want.

Fall 2016 wedding gowns trend: Color. Wedding gowns with some color aren’t a new thing but this year in particular, designers seem to have grasped how to mainstream color. We LOVE the sweet garden feel of this floral pattern on Lazaro gown:

Fall 2016 wedding gowns trend: Separates. Crop tops (or not) and skirts are HUGE in wedding gowns and we love the look for the fashion forward bride who wants a bit of edginess on her wedding day.

Wedding Weekend Inspiration at Hotel Valley Ho
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

This sweet little styled shoot came our way and we think it’s perfect for couples looking for some wedding weekend inspiration because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to celebrate their wedding all weekend long?! This shoot has lots of love- the couple is the just cutest pair of newlyweds- and fun ideas for Arizona’s engaged couples. Enjoy!

wedding weekend inspiration_Phoenix Bride and Groom amgazine_Phoenix_Scottsdale (1)

Event Planner Laura Pearson explains her inspiration for the Hotel Valley Ho styled shoot: Most of my clients want more of a full weekend experience for their guests. I am often planning a multitude of events around a wedding -rehearsal dinner, welcome reception, pre and post wedding day events. I thought it would be fun to do something that was focused less on a traditional wedding event and more on activities that could happen in addition to the wedding. During the couple’s actual wedding, we did their welcome reception at the Hotel Valley Ho and I loved the mod throwback to the 6o’s era vibe it had with an upscale refined twist.

Wedding Weekend Inspiration: First up is a pit stop for a few local food trucks then the party heads to the pool. Exactly what we would do!

wedding weekend inspiration_Phoenix Bride and Groom amgazine_Phoenix_Scottsdale (2)

Laura adds: Thinking about the heat in Arizona and options for their wedding I thought “How fun would a chic pool party be?!” It could be either a welcome party for guests, a post-wedding event or even a post elopement party to celebrate the newlyweds.

If you haven’t spent time at Hotel Valley Ho’s OH Pool, you need to. It’s pretty much the place to be on the weekends!

Wedding Weekend Inspiration: This shoot includes a simple ceremony where the bride wore her grandmother’s vintage wedding dress followed by quintessential Sonoran desert portraits. The couple hitched a ride in a vintage Ford belonging to the family- it was used in both the bride’s and the bride’s sister’s weddings even though the girls got married in two different states!

Wedding Weekend Inspiration: The last event of this wedding weekend inspiration shoot is the reception; a sweetheart table with blue sequin linens, pretty flowers, and modern retro paper products round out the design.

Phoenix Zoo: A Unique Wedding Venue in Phoenix
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

You’re engaged- congratulations! If you’re ready to start your Arizona wedding venue search, you’re going to need a bit of help. We have so many wedding venue options that you might experience a bit of “too many choices paralysis” (it’s a real thing, especially for couples planning their weddings) but if you’re a couple who knows what you want and what you want is something a bit different with a large dose of fun and personality, you should put Phoenix Zoo at the top of your wedding venue list. The zoo is a unique wedding venue in Phoenix that has been helping couples happily say “I do” for years and we are excited to share it with you today.

Unique wedding venue in Phoenix_Phoenix Zoo_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Studio 616 Photography (7)

What makes the Phoenix Zoo perfect for weddings?

Everything! From lush tropical settings to the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, the Phoenix Zoo offers distinct indoor and outdoor venues that welcome large formal ceremonies and receptions, smaller, more intimate affairs and everything in between. For example, our historic stone cabin, Ruby’s House, hosts between 30-100 guests while the grand, modern and open-air feel of the C. W. & Modene Neely Education and Event Center seats up to 300. Regardless of the venue, the Zoo provides a beautiful garden atmosphere making it ideal for photography.

Two features you’ll love about this unique wedding venue in Phoenix are:

-The various textures and colors of the buildings & outdoor spaces create an atmosphere of natural beauty paired with historic charm

-The scenic photo opportunities at every turn. There’s the main lake, private paths, tree filled niches and of course the potential for animal photobombs!

Can couples bring in their own vendors or do you have a specific list you work with?

The short answer is “yes” to both! We work with many amazing vendors whom we are more than happy to recommend, but guests are certainly welcome to bring in any professional team that is licensed and insured to help create a truly unique event. We do ask that guests work with Lancer Catering (our in-house caterer) or one of our five preferred caterers who have all served the Phoenix Zoo in a fantastic manner for several years.

One thing we especially love about Phoenix Zoo is that its inhabitants inspire the wedding decor, making it truly a unique wedding venue in Phoenix. Brides and grooms don’t necessarily have to incorporate a zoo or animal theme but the people who choose to get married here seem to really love animals and connect on some level with the zoo’s conservation efforts. Plus, Animal Cracker favors…

Phoenix Zoo’s annual Zoo Lights event provides a magical and colorful wedding experience. Couples who get married at the zoo during this time know they’re in for a special treat.

What are the things about the property that make it a fabulous place to get married?

First and foremost, the Zoo invites all of our guests to learn about our mission of creating experiences that inspire people to care for the natural world. As a non-profit organization, we like to make the connection that any revenue we earn from special events (like weddings) goes back into our operating budget to support the care and overall livelihood of our animals, as well as our efforts in local and global conservation. People strongly identify with our core values, and many of our wedding parties have continued this mission by asking their guests to make a financial contribution to the Zoo in lieu of wedding gifts. To us, that’s special.

On a service level, we’re very proud of our friendly, attentive and professional staff. We know that every wedding is special and unique. In fact, we make a point to go out of our way to make each special occasion the best possible experience for our guests. Whether you’re looking for a traditional ballroom feel or a custom creation such as our glamorous, twinkle-lit “desert tents” with a fire pit, the Zoo has it all. Plus, we are conveniently located next to public transportation, local hotels and other points of interest in the Valley.

What do you see couples doing with the venue as far as decor and design that you are really loving right now?

Over the past year, we’ve observed a lot of “rustic glam.” As a general rule, our guests have been very into textures and have chosen a more bohemian approach to their weddings rather than the traditional shiny/sleek. Burlap, chalkboard signs and sunflowers are very popular right now. We’ve also noticed an uptick in “theme” weddings which are easily incorporated into our numerous venues. A few we’ve seen recently include a Renaissance theme with giant turkey legs at the buffet, a carnival atmosphere with popcorn and games, and even a Star Wars inspired theme complete with a Death Star wedding cake! Whatever their desire, we’re happy to work closely with our guests to make their special day one they’ll never forget.

Are there any current discounts/specials that we should let couples planning their weddings in Arizona know about?

The Phoenix Zoo is proud to consistently offer competitive pricing and reasonable venue rental rates. Because of our non-profit status, however, guests will see noticeable savings right away since we do not charge tax on rental fees and Zoo services.

Phoenix Wedding Videography: Something New Media Wedding Trailer
categories: Tips and Advice, videography, Wedding Inspiration

When talking wedding film/videography, couples often cite two reasons why they’re on the fence about it. The first reason is budget which, time and again, couples who did not make room in their budgets for wedding video express as a major post-wedding regret. The second reason is that they don’t think they’ll actually watch the video. To that, we always say: we’ve never met a couple who regrets hiring a wedding videographer but we’ve met couples who regret NOT hiring one!

In our corner of the world, wedding videography is a must-have and Something New Media, a Phoenix wedding videography company, may change your mind about not watching your video. They offer several packages so if you’re not into the whole shebang, you don’t have to have it!

We saw this wedding trailer from a wedding at Desert Botanical Garden planned by Meant2Be Events and had to share it because you get a sense of the couple’s relationship and their happy day even though the video is just over 2 minutes in length! It’s love in motion and we’re kind of addicted…

This is our fun Behind the Scenes video from our Winter Spring 2016 cover shoot:

Styled Shoot: Orange, Green and Blue Wedding Inspiration
categories: bridal fashions, cakes and sweets, floral inspiration, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Today’s orange, green and blue wedding inspiration shoot is a beautiful collaboration between local vendors that showcases the best Arizona has to offer- you’ll see nods to two of Arizona’s most recognizable “C’s”, citrus and copper (the state’s “Five C’s” are copper, cattle, cotton, citrus and climate), alongside bits of industrial and Gatsby-ish design woven into the details. The result is a fresh and dreamy scene where love is sure to bloom!

Orange green and blue wedding inspiration_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Andrew Jade Photography

Andrew Jade Photography adds insight to the design: What we hoped to portray in this shoot is that rustic doesn’t always have to include a farm wedding or a budget-friendly look. There is a such a thing as rustic glam… and the two tie in beautifully together when stylized with colorful tableware, and lots of white floral. We also love the “old world” look and incorporated lots of hidden cogs throughout our design… including hand painted cogs on beautiful macarons.

Orange, green and blue wedding inspiration details: The dining table is a gorgeous setting for an outdoor meal; Arizona’s moderate climate for more than half the year affords its residents and couples planning their weddings many al fresco dining opportunities

Orange, green and blue wedding inspiration details: The sweets table is such a lovely way to display an essential part of any wedding- the sugar! It’s hard to choose one thing we love most about this darling display-metal and wooden cake stands complement the well-thought out rustic glam design, oranges add the perfect pop of color and the cake and macarons feature a light wash of blue…plus the cogs we’ve seen throughout the shoot make a final appearance as well. It’s spot on if you ask us!
