romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding _ Phoenix Bride and Groom wedding magazine_Jenn Wagner Studio_Arizona Wedding

It was all about the love at Elizabeth and Chris’ romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding! The beautiful couple kept their appreciation for each other and their families at the center of their planning and their wedding day ended up being a gorgeous event that was full of love and happiness—just how we like it!

Elizabeth recalls: I wanted to pick a color pallet that complimented the venue and added some glamour to the day! Navy is a timeless wedding color and gold was the perfect pop of glam to accompany it. The idea of the burgundy accents in the floral arrangements came from Kevin Reed at Your Event Florist, it was the perfect additional for a fall wedding. I was very much about putting our stamp on the day, so I was so happy Your Event Florist found another way to do that. It really made the arrangements one-of-a-kind and the burgundy dahlias were simply stunning.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | Favorite Moment: We both agree that our favorite moment of the day was our first look. I was reluctant to do one at first, wanting to uphold tradition but our photographer, Jenn convinced me otherwise and she was SO right! When Chris finally turned around and we locked eyes, it was like the rest of the world faded away. Any nerves we had disappeared and everything just felt perfect.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Dress: My dress was an A-line gown made by Pronovias, purchased from Schaffer’s. I brought my mom, sister and best friend along to go dress shopping with me. My mom was actually the one who picked out the gown I ended up wearing, I wasn’t sure about it at first because it wasn’t white. As soon as I put it on, I fell in love. I was in awe of all the detail of the Swarovski crystals and the pinkish color of the tulle overlay. It wowed everyone in the room. But I’m a cautious person, so I decided to keep looking. We went to another bridal store, where I tried on more dresses, including a mermaid gown that my mom and sister fell in love with. There was a lot of pressure from them to pick it but the other was still in the back of my mind. I realized that the Pronovias dress was the one and went back to purchase it that night just as they were closing!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Flowers: Floral was one of the most important aspects of our big day. Kevin Reed, Your Event Florist owner, was remarkable in taking our vision and turning it into a reality. They custom designed my bouquet with Polo Roses, Lisianthus, Ranunculus, and Dahlias then finished it with Bay Leaves, it was perfection.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Ceremony: Elizabeth and Chris wed in an unplugged ceremony under a lushly decorated wrought iron arch; eucalyptus garland lined the aisle and wine barrels placed at the beginning of the aisle were topped with overflowing floral arrangements. Elizabeth said the ceremony decor took her breath away!

The biggest surprise of the day came from our 2 year old flower girl, Peyton! After she walked down the aisle with our ring bearer, she went to sit with her parents and decided that it was time to take off her dress. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a naked Peyton, happy as can be, at the beginning of our ceremony. It was so hard not to laugh!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Reception: Chris and Elizabeth stole away for photos while guests proceeded into the reception; the evening was filled with thoughtful touches from a “Generations of Love” display to a heartfelt donation in lieu of favors.

Chris is a HUGE car buff and works for Barrett Jackson but since he was little, his passion has always been classic cars. For the escort card table, we had a valet board where each of our guests received a vintage car key with their car for the night. The tables were named after his favorite classic cars with a license plate.

Family is very important to us and we wanted to honor them with a Generations of Love tribute. We compiled wedding day photographs from our parents and grandparents to display. It warmed many hearts and brought happy tears to both of our families.

We love it when couples incorporate the things that are important to them and Elizabeth and Chris did just that—one example is this table that celebrates their relationship along with their passion for two dog rescues in Arizona: Paw it Forward Husky Rescue and AZ Happy Tails.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Sugar: Elizabeth and Chris opted for a decadent dessert table that included cake, chocolates, mini pastries and watermelon.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding : Before our sparkler exit, Chris & I wanted a final dance, a moment to take it all in before the night ended. While everyone lined up outside and prepared for the big moment, we stayed back. “The Only One” by Charles Kelly began to play, and we danced alone in a giant empty room, utterly elated and in love. It was one of my favorite moments from the night.

One thing I would change would be to have hired a videographer for the day! I will cherish our photographers forever, but the chance to hear Chris’ vows again or getting to see my mom walk down the aisle, would have been well worth the investment.

Everyone told us it would be the best day of our lives and it was. To have so many people there, surrounding us with love was simply wonderful.

Elizabeth and Chris, congratulations and thank you for sharing your romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding with us!

Advice from Wedding Photographers | Phoenix, Arizona
categories: Meet Our Friends, photography, Tips and Advice, Wedding Inspiration

Everyone who gets married wants to love their wedding photos—even the couples who aren’t all that comfortable in the spotlight of the lens—so we asked the best photographers we know for their advice. It just makes sense to ask for advice from wedding photographers, doesn’t it? Here’s what Arizona’s Elite Circle photographers have to say about how to have a fabulous wedding day (which, if you hire a great photographer, will result in fabulous photos!):

Christina DePoy of DePoy Studios:

Hire your wedding photographer ASAP and get to work on your timeline before your wedding invitations go out.

No matter what happens on your wedding day—the cake does not show up, your dress does not fit, you have to kick a groomsman out at the last minute for being too drunk, or the DJ is super late—just remember that you are there to celebrate your love for one another, with the people who love you the most.

The best wedding photos are the most authentic ones—the ones that capture real moments throughout the day. The ones that bring them back to the wedding day and evoke that emotion all over again; Be yourself and let the day unfold as organically as possible.

Don’t make your wedding day all about the photos. Let your photos be all about the moments of the wedding day.

Stuart Thurlkill of Eyes 2 See:

If you want to have amazing photographs make sure to book an engagement session. By having a trial run you are more relaxed and confident on your wedding day.

Warm smiles come from a full heart and intimate words; Share with all your guests how your heart is feeling.

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding
categories: floral inspiration, photography, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie and Marc exude an easy-going, super in love, thrilled to be married kind of vibe and we love how they planned their wedding with a low key and reverent attitude. Their wedding day was a modern fun wedding that you’re sure to enjoy!

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie gave Marc Green Lantern cuff links on a trip to Carlsbad Caverns (Marc almost proposed there but Katie’s glad he choose to pop the questions above ground!) since they are his favorite superhero and he wore them proudly on his wedding day!

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie recalls: We relied heavily on the help of our family, friends, and church to pull off our “a la carte” wedding. The end result was a day that was not only stress free, but also incredibly fun and joyful. The design we were going for was simple, clean, and modern, and one of our priorities was making sure our guests truly enjoyed themselves.

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Ceremony: The couple wed outdoors on a gorgeous February afternoon in Tempe— the sun was shining, and love was in the air. The geometric shapes the couple chose for their decor add a chic modern touch!

Katie’s favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing Marc beaming with joy.

A Modern Fun Wedding Color Palette: we chose bold colors (navy, tangerine, and gray) and geometric shapes. [Katie’s dad] built a custom geometric backdrop, which he partially assembled in the Northwest. He brought it down to Arizona in pieces and then had to finish assembling it on the day of the wedding.

Husband and wife!

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Reception: Guests dined outside where the stage was set for an evening of celebration.

The menu was simple. We, as well as so many others in our lives, have severe food sensitivities, and Chipotle’s menu is very accommodating to those with allergies. Chipotle also happens to be where we ate just before Marc proposed to [me].

The bold blue linens and orange blooms were a lovely complement to the rose gold geometric decor items and greenery used throughout; Katie’s dad’s wooden geometric design made for a fabulous head-table backdrop.

Photographer Tracy Battaglia of Fully Alive Photography stole the couple away for some desert photos and the scenery didn’t disappoint!

For dessert, we chose cupcakes because we’ve seen how much of a hit they are at weddings. Guests seem to love selecting their flavor, and that fit into our desire to help our guests enjoy themselves.

Aren’t these cupcakes yummy looking? The Starbucks is a nod to where the couple met—see their engagement session and love story here!

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Reception: One particularly romantic moment occurred during the first dance. Katie tells us: In the weeks leading up to the wedding, I had been feeling anxious and insecure about our first dance. I had even taken some ballroom dance lessons just to feel more comfortable on the dance floor. Little did I know the surprise Marc had for me. When it was time for our first dance, he sat me down on a chair, took several steps back, and danced for me. It was tender, sweet, and romantic, and stole everyone’s hearts. (It turns out he was also taking lessons from the same studio as I was and all the studio staff were in on it, too!)

Then, with Katie’s nerves calmed, the party started…and boy did this group have fun (glow sticks and necklaces made the party extra festive!)

We felt so blessed by our family and friends, and we continue to feel blessed in our new marriage. We’re certainly not the youngest newlyweds on the block but this is the first time for both of us and we’re so grateful that God kept our hearts for each other.

Blaise & Gina’s Country Club Wedding in Phoenix
categories: floral inspiration, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

country club wedding in phoenix _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Wedding Magazine_Rachel Solomon_Victoria Canada Weddings

There is something so very captivating about Gina and Blaise and their country club wedding in Phoenix—perhaps it’s their laid back style, perhaps it’s the expertly designed decor? Either way, we absolutely love this wedding and we know you will too!

The Proposal: Blaise proposed to me in front of my entire family on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa (where my family is from). I soon found out that I was the only one who wasn’t in on the proposal, and I was swept off my feet! That day my mom gave me a stack of bridal and wedding magazines so we could begin the planning. My mom and I had been dreaming of my wedding day since I was a little girl–and now we could finally plan the real thing!

What was most important to you as you planned your wedding? When Blaise and I were asked by our wedding planner what we wanted on our wedding day, we both agreed that the most important thing is that everyone have the most fun time at our wedding. We are both pretty simple people; we didn’t want extra “stuff.” We didn’t want a photo booth or games and activities. We just wanted everyone to be present with us in a beautiful setting and to share in our happiness.

Country Club Wedding in Phoenix Ceremony: The wedding was originally planned to be outdoors but the weather had other plans. Luckily, the couple was working with Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings + Events who swept in with “plan B”, located a clear top tent at the last minute, and made the ceremony even more amazing than the couple dreamed it could be!

Gina recalls: Our amazing wedding planner, Victoria Canada, told us not to worry and found the most beautiful tent for our outdoor ceremony just days before the wedding. It ended up being even more beautiful and magical than we could have ever imagined–the lights strung across the tent made it feel like we were getting married under the stars.

From the planner: Gina wanted her floral to be bold but romantic; the result was floral that felt lush and overflowing, a bit wild but still elegant.

The clear top tent was strung with lights which made the atmosphere for the ceremony quite magical!

Looking back, what is your favorite moment of the day? Our favorite moment of the wedding day was being surrounded by all of our amazing family and friends and dancing and celebrating with everyone. We felt so much love and support the entire day.

Country Club Wedding in Phoenix Reception: Guests proceeded into the ballroom for dinner and revelry amidst a sophisticated and lush garden setting; tables were dressed with deep jade linens, light and airy drape to soften the overall effect of the room, glowing candlelight, rustic centerpieces, botanic inspired chandeliers and shimmering gold detailing.

One thing that caught our attention about this reception is how there are so many layers of beautiful decor—it all comes together to create a masterfully designed reception that fits the personality of the couple to a “t”.

This country club wedding in Phoenix is just the dreamiest—just imagine walking into this room?!

Sweetness: Blaise and I literally smiled so much our cheeks hurt. We are so grateful to everyone who made the day come together so flawlessly. Our amazing parents provided so much love and support, and our incredible team of vendors and Victoria Canada Weddings and Events made our dream a reality.

The four-tier “half dressed” wedding cake was also topped with the perfectly sophisticated and slightly wild flowers!
