Kristin and Christopher’s elegant Spring wedding was the perfect blend of modern touches and tradition. The ceremony was held at the church Kristin’s family belongs to and the guest book table included pictures of both the bride and groom’s parents and grandparent’s on their wedding days; however, they made their ceremony very much their own by writing their own vows and incorporating them into the traditional vows. What a sweet way to keep the focus on family and still make it personal. They even drove away from their ceremony in a car that had a sign similar to Kristin’s grandparents’ “Just Married” sign!
The aisle was lined with ivory floral and candles. Kristin’s favorite moment from the day? I’ll let her tell you: My favorite part of the day…was the ceremony. It seems so often the excitement and fun of the reception trumps the time when the bride and groom actually become husband and wife. I have never experienced such pure happiness and appreciation for life, family, friends, and love as I did standing at the alter holding hands with Chris.
The happy couple!
The lush and colorful floral designs were inspired by peacocks. They accented the natural beauty of Kristin’s parent’s yard while mercury glass vases and tall candelabras adorned the king’s tables to create an atmosphere of romance- perfect for an evening of celebration!
Kristin tells us about the reception: We chose my parent’s house for the location of the reception in order personalize the décor, food, and atmosphere. We handmade Italian wedding favors and desserts to represent and honor [my] Italian heritage while miniature bottles of Jägermeister served as seating cards for the gentlemen and reflected [Christoher’s] German roots.
Looking back: Planning our wedding had its stressful moments as any wedding does. The time spent, though, with my mother and grandmother so was so special to me, and I’m incredibly thankful for the beautiful memories made along the way and on that fairytale day.
3 Words to Describe Your Wedding: Family, Romantic, Ornate
The Honeymoon: We went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and stayed at the beautiful Zoetry Agua Punta Cana. My husband and I knew we wanted to vacation in a tropical climate to lay on the beach and scuba dive, and neither of us had been to the Dominican Republic. We chose Zoetry because it offered a truly personal and luxurious spa environment, perfect for relaxing, lounging, and eating delicious food.
If you could change 1 thing: The only thing I would change was the unseasonably, record breaking heat we had for an April day, it was 102 degrees out! But, you can’t plan everything and it was truly the most wonderful day of my life.
Congratulations Kristin and Christopher and thank you for sharing your day with us!
