Charity Event in Arizona | Project NACE: Design Through the Decades
categories: bridal fashions, entertainment, Meet Our Friends, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

The Phoenix chapter of NACE (a professional catering and event industry group) hosts a yearly Arizona fundraising event called Project NACE and this year the theme was Design Through the Decades. We look forward to  participating in this creative fundraiser every year (we had a ton of fun creating our dress!) and doing our part to raise money for Singleton Moms which supports single parents with cancer.

Our dress, a 1960’s mod frock, was made with copies of our magazine and is paired with a fun clutch that is also made from our magazines!

One of our Elite Circle wedding venues, Tempe Mission Palms, also participated in the fashion show. With the hotel being built in 1985, it was only fitting to design a dress from the 1980’s that included actual palm leaves along with pops of neon orange to tie in the orange trees that are all within the beautiful lighted courtyard of the hotel.

Elite Circle bridesmaid shop Bella Bridesmaids added some “real” fashion to the show with some of their gorgeous bridesmaid dresses. The brand new Theia rose gold sequin gown and separates from designer Jenny Yoo were a hit with the crowd.

The chic Twobirds jumpsuit has the same styling options as the convertible dresses (cool, right?) and the soft floral print dress by Donna Morgan has a super feminine silhouette

There were also decade-themed tables designed by the members of NACE- all centerpieces were created by Creative Occasions and the chairs and chargers were provided by Classic Party Rentals. You can see that the Project NACE event is a charity event in Arizona that’s not to be missed!

Awards went to: Classic Party Rentals (Vendor Sponsor of the Year) and Kellie Mendoza with Tempe Mission Palms (President’s Rising Star:). Yes, our Elite Circle wedding professionals truly are the BEST!

Kaila and Kyle’s Glam DIY Wedding at Sassi
categories: entertainment, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, Wedding Inspiration

glam diy wedding_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Sassi_Arizona Wedding

Kaila and Kyle (seriously, such a gorgeous couple) said “I DO” at the stunning Sassi in North Scottsdale among dear friends and family. We’re calling their wedding a Glam DIY Wedding because while they decided not to hire a wedding planner, they still had gorgeous professional looking details; highlights include luscious coral peonies, beautifully hand-painted wooden signs and pops of shimmering gold.

Those bouquets!

A Glam DIY Wedding Ceremony: The desert venue doesn’t disappoint when it comes to intimate moments, picturesque views, delicious food and beautiful photo ops…the centerpiece of Kaila and Kyle’s ceremony was an arch complete with lush floral and hanging crystals that framed the couples nuptials perfectly.

Kaila recalls: The day of our wedding was supposed to have consistent rain from morning until evening. While we were getting ready there was thunder and severe rain. When we finally arrived at the venue, my bridal party and I realized we forgot my wedding dress at the hotel. Omg! However, we all just kept rolling with the punches. By the time the wedding started the sun actually came out…we had the most beautiful outdoor ceremony and I even remember hummingbirds flying around.

Our favorite part of the wedding was seeing each other for the first time. We had debated if we wanted to do a first look and I’m so glad we didn’t. There was something about being traditional that made it very special when I walked down the isle. We were both so happy to see one another.

A Glam DIY Wedding Reception: We had a clear vision of how we wanted everything to look and feel. This made it easier for us to focus our time on the details. By spending time on details and special touches our personalities were able to shine through.

Photos from Kaila and Kyle’s parents’ houses were placed on the mantle in the private Sassi room which added a very comforting vibe; regarding dinner, Kaila tells us, “Our menu was three courses and consisted of an antipasto salad, hand rolled cavatelli pasta with short rib, and seasonal white fish and filet mignon. It was important for us to have amazing food and Sassi definitely delivered. We had many of our guest comment on how delicious the food was!”

Wedding Registry Ideas: Julia Knight Collection
categories: entertainment, favor and gift ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Adding a few items from the Julia Knight Collection to your registry is one of our favorite wedding registry ideas because there’s a wide range of pieces that can complement your newlywed nest no matter what your entertaining style is. Plus, the handcrafted artisan quality means you’ll treasure these pieces for generations to come.

Julia Knight offers 16 named collections and within those collections are several color and metal options. From the “Queen Bee” Collection: It’s subtle yet significant. The iconic golden bee makes her cameo appearances in our Queen Bee Collection. Resting with an air of entitlement on a stunning honeycomb pattern, the setting gets its buzz from a busy Parisian rue.

See the bee? Here’s a close up:

From the “Eclipse” Collection: By hand, by design, Eclipse is the epitome of artisan authenticity. The Collection’s imperfect shapes are perfectly natural, showcasing light-filled beauty in one-of-a-kind pieces.

Wedding Registry Ideas: When considering what to register for, don’t forget to register for some classic pieces that you can use year round that serve several purposes- a gorgeous cake stand can hold a variety of foods or even be the base of a beautiful flower arrangement.

From the “Classic” Collection: Timeless and timely, our Classic Collection is a premier presentation of clean-line sophistication and mother-of-pearl allure – perfect for spontaneous gatherings or top-shelf soirees.

Wedding Registry Ideas: A bit of whimsy can be incorporated into your entertaining collection and beachy or tropical themed serving dishes are a great way to lighten things up.

From the “By the Sea” Collection: The lore of the sea draws on a bountiful catch of myth and mystery. Shells and sea creatures tell an adventurous tale at tableside – a spread of textural beauty amidst the salty, misty fog.

From the “Exotic Tropics” Collection (you know the pineapple motif is huge right now in everything from clothing to weddings, right?!)

From the “Diamond” Collection: Manhattan Upper East Side? Chicago Gold Coast? San Francisco Nob Hill? You get the picture. Pull out the stops and feel the allure of elegance from our Diamond Collection bar and serveware. It leaves nothing to the entertaining imagination. Just add guests and go.

Wedding Registry Ideas: Registering for items that are both gold and silver allows for versatility in your entertaining and mixing metals is a sign of a truly modern couple’s style.

From the “Florentine Gold” Collection: Host an evening of opulence in Florentine style. This collection graces the scene with classic, golden luxury – inspired by the arched design of a 24K gold bracelet handpicked in a Firenza market.

Great Find: Ruffino Prosecco Al Fresco Flutes by govino
categories: Engagement, entertainment, favor and gift ideas

This summer, as you make summer entertaining plans, I want you to ask yourself, “Why be boring?”. That’s right. Why be boring? There’s absolutely no excuse for plain white paper plates and cocktails in a can. You’re engaged (or close to it) which means you are now grown- up and it’s time to make some grown- up decisions!

One thing grown- ups know is that glass at the pool/lake/boat/pier/picnic doesn’t work. Have you ever had to avoid using your pool because someone broke a wine glass near it and it had to be drained, thoroughly vacuumed, and refilled? It stinks, especially in Arizona where a dip in the pool literally makes existence possible. So your best outdoor entertaining options are cans (boring) or something much more beautiful. We’re going with the “much more beautiful” option today and introducing you to Ruffino Prosecco Al Fresco Flutes by govino.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Great Find_summer entertaining_RUFFINOPROSECCO_3_r2

Ruffino and govino collaborated to make these really fun and bright Prosecco glasses; Ruffino, the Italian winery long known for producing top-quality wines, and govino, the innovative “Go Anywhere” wine glass maker, introduce the Ruffino Prosecco al Fresco Flutes. By customizing govino’s already chic, shatterproof glasses, Ruffino has created a new outdoor accessory perfect for delighting in your favorite beverage. Whether you’re poolside, port-side or picnicking with friends, the flutes allow you to take the Italian lifestyle with you all summer long.

The flutes’ patterns are inspired by the bright fruit flavors of Ruffino Prosecco, and the Italian al Fresco lifestyle, with vibrant colors and sunny accents of honeysuckle flowers and citrus slices, stylishly arranged in a kaleidoscope pattern.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Great Find_summer entertaining_RUFFINOPROSECCO_3_r1

govino “Go Anywhere” flutes are made of flexible, BPA free polymer, making them shatterproof, reusable and recyclable. You’re not limited to serving Prosecco in the Ruffino Prosecco al Fresco Flutes but have you tried Prosecco? It’s an Italian white sparkling wine, is soooooo good and yes, it’s deserving of “fancy”.

The Sparkling Portofino (Serves 4, recipe compliments of Ruffino):

Ingredients:

16 oz chilled Ruffino Prosecco

4 oz pear nectar (or pear juice)

4 strips of orange zest (no bitter white pith)

4 strips of lemon zest (no bitter white pith)

Make It:

Place two strips of zest into the bottom of each flute

Pour pear nectar into flute, filling 1/3 full

Top off with Ruffino Prosecco and serve in Ruffino Prosecco al Fresco flutes by govino

Blogthinline-1

This is a really simple recipe that a friend of mine has made many times- it would look AMAZING in these glasses due to the hibiscus syrup which is a deep raspberry red hue:

Hibiscus Prosecco: Put a hibiscus flower (from Amazon) with one teaspoon of its syrup in the bottom of a glass, and pour over Prosecco. Don’t discard the flower – it’s edible and crazy yummy!

Blogthinline-1The Ruffino Prosecco al Fresco Flutes can be purchased on Amazon (P.S. We have a giveaway coming up soon too!)

Great Find: Mixteka Music
categories: entertainment, Giveaways and Contests

In the wedding world, there seems to be 3 types of couples when it comes to music at their wedding and once you know which type you are, your chances of changing your mind are pretty slim. There are the band lovers, die-hard DJ fans, and the DIY’ers and while we are huge fans of the band or DJ route, we know that one way for couples to save on their wedding expenses (and truly customize their entertainment) is to handle the music on their own.

If you identify with the DIY music crowd, then Mixteka is a wedding music solution that you’ll want to know about.

Giveaway_Mixteka_wedding music

So what is it? Simply put, Mixteka is a wedding music solution that allows you to invite friends to recommend music, create your own completely custom wedding music list, and play your music selections (and pre-recorded announcements if you choose to use them) at your wedding with just the click of a button on Mixteka’s device. This is such a great option because it frees up your phone and other mobile devices for selfies and videos!

devicepackaging

I received a demo of the product and it was really easy to use, had all kinds of custom options, and was a great way to streamline the music/entertainment process. If you’re a DIY kind of couple and don’t want any glitches, dead iPods, or empty “airtime”, then Mixteka is a music solution that will keep your guests dancing all night!

Are you engaged to be married in Arizona? Then enter our giveaway! Mixteka is offering one engaged couple a complete, all-inclusive wedding package valued at $149. Complete our quick submission form {http://phoenixbrideandgroom.com/giveaways_newsletter.php} by April 30, 2015 to be entered to win.

Great Find: Big Dot of Happiness (plus a giveaway!)

Planning a bridal shower can be super fun and when you shop a one-stop party planning & supply site like Big Dot of Happiness,  the fun factor grows exponentially. What we love about this site is that they have a large variety of mix-and-match party theme ideas that can be customized to make your bridal shower exactly what you want it to be- it’s quite the time saver!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding magazine_giveaway_bridal shower planning tips_Big Dot of Happiness_Chevron-Gray-Bridal-Shower-Supplies

We asked the party experts at Big Dot of Happiness for a their best advice regarding bridal showers- here’s what they had to say:

What is the best plan for a bridal shower as far as maximum number of guests, time of day, and food/beverages?

It really depends on the Bride-To-Be’s wishes. From brides that dream of a huge event that includes family, friends and co-workers with decorations galore and a formal meal, to brides who want a more intimate setting with immediate family members and only the closest friends, the bridal shower should be perfectly suited to her unique style. Once you have a guest list, choosing the time of day with food and beverages will be easy.

Besides typical bridal shower games, what other fun activities are you seeing at showers?

Wine tastings and winery tours are definitely at the top of many Bride-To-Be’s lists. Hostesses can create the wine tasting themselves with a little bit of research on wine and cheese pairings; they can have it catered in along with the food as most food services will provide a bartender; or they can have the entire celebration hosted at a winery where they can taste local wines and artisan cheeses.

We also see many hostesses offering their guests a “Helpful Hints” card at each place setting. Guests can offer up words of advice to the happy couple. These cards are a fun way for the Bride-To-Be to share some of her shower with her groom and they make a great addition to her scrapbook.

What are your top 3 do’s and don’t for hosting a successful shower?

DO make it about the Bride-To-Be. Her Shower – Her Style.

DO have her approve the guest list. You would hate to forget someone special.

DO have a budget and try your best to stick to it. The bride shouldn’t have to pay for anything but you don’t want to break your own bank either.

DON’T wait until the last minute – mail invites, book a party space and plan the menu early.

DON’T tell the Bride-To-Be how stressed you are. She might seem calm but she is mentally checking off her to-do list, counting down to the big day.

DON’T take on the event all alone. Gather bridesmaids, sisters or closest friends to plan – and pay – as a group. It’s more fun hosting with others, anyways!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding magazine_giveaway_bridal shower planning tips_Big Dot of Happiness_Teal-Bridal-Shower-Tissue-Paper-Pom-Poms

Does a bridal shower hostess need to provide guests with a favor?

Bridal shower favors are always appreciated by guests. From custom party favors wrapped and ready to gift to sweet treats and homemade goodies, every guest loves taking home a small memento of the celebration. You can easily make coordinated bridal shower favors with custom craft tags and stickers – the personalization will add that extra special touch everyone will remember.

What is one emerging bridal shower trend that you love?

Hand lettering paired with foil accents is the newest invitation trend for bridal showers – brides are absolutely loving the bling. From shiny, foiled invitations to glittered centerpieces in gold and silver, the shimmery shining party supplies are instant favorites. We love how easily a little bling is incorporated into the bridal shower colors to create an impressive event.

We are also seeing a trend of destination bridal showers. Typically, in small groups of best friends, ladies are going Glamping – a long weekend away at a cabin or cottage on a lake. Bringing along mani/pedi supplies, delicious food and drinks, and all the fashion magazines a girl could read, it’s camping but in style. Putting relaxing at the forefront of the celebration, we absolutely love this idea to help connect a group of girls and make some memories before the big day.
