Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Tempe Mission Palms_Fully Alive Photography

Wedding planning doesn’t always begin with a theme but often one emerges as you choose your colors, stationery, textures and venue (that’s the fun part after all!) and if you like the idea of your wedding being a bright and happy affair in a location that offers both warm intimacy and an energetic central location, this bright garden wedding inspiration shoot at Tempe Mission Palms is exactly what you’re looking for.

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration: At the heart of this photo shoot is this idea: you don’t necessarily need all the fluff. By upgrading a few of the key elements such as furniture, linen, chairs and flowers, the space can easily be transformed and couples can have the one of a kind and inspirational wedding. We completely agree because many times, couples think that without a huge budget, they can’t have a stand-out wedding but that just isn’t true. A few well-chosen pieces will elevate your wedding design to something memorable and super pretty!

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration: The Flowers: The bride’s bouquet is a garden inspired masterpiece that includes Pink Floyd roses, coral charm peonies, orange ranunculus, red-orange pincushion protea, yellow tulips, bright orange spray roses, and green trick dianthus plus about 10 other flowers!

One other detail that caught our eye right away was the bride’s nails—they’re bridal-ish and so fun (P.S. they’re from Jamberry)!

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Ceremony: The Pool Terrace at Tempe Mission Palms has an urban backdrop that includes downtown Tempe, the historic Hayden Flower Mill, and the iconic “A” Mountain. Nowhere else in Arizona do you get such a unique view!

The ceremony was set with a beautifully dressed table, loads of bright flowers, and a moss covered ampersand (the “&” symbol) on the mantle above. A green moss sheet was wrapped around the base of the fireplace (love this so much!) while succulent terrariums and gold-rimmed candle holders finished the look.

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Look: Groom Johnny wore a custom bow tie and slim fit tan tuxedo while Savannah, the bride, wore a gorgeous bridal gown provided by Laurie’s Bridal (it’s a Private Label Designer dress). She completed her look with a delicate accent flower piece in her hair which went perfectly with the bright garden wedding theme.

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Lounge: The hotel’s mission style architecture, hanging ivy, and statuesque fireplace in the Courtyard Patio create a comfy and chic sitting area. A lounge guests will flock to was created by using a combination of vintage, retro, and modernly elegant furniture pieces—we especially love the blue fabrics mixed with the gold metal accents.

Because Tempe Mission Palms is a pet friendly hotel, the Arizona Animal Welfare League partnered with us to incorporate a rescue animal. Chandler, a playful cocker spaniel puppy, quickly became the eye of attention. He’s since been adopted but he certainly created some fun and sweet moments during the shoot.

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Tempe Mission Palms_Fully Alive Photography

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Reception: The table set for twelve was nestled between two large trees in the courtyard; the modern garden design began with sophisticated French Blue Shantung linens, Blush Lamour napkins, and Bella Fleur gold chameleon chairs with ivory cushion caps. Suspended above the table was a twelve foot long birch branch strung with eucalyptus and hanging clear glass terrariums. These details have the effect of making the whole space feel very intimate—perfect for a wedding!

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Tempe Mission Palms_Fully Alive Photography

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Stationery: Stationer Rene Showalter of Celebrations in Paper created a slightly whimsical and very colorful wedding stationery suite for the shoot; the invitations, table numbers, and menu all incorporated a bright watercolor flower motif that paired beautifully with the bold floral arrangements and stylish place settings.

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Tempe Mission Palms_Fully Alive Photography

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Tablescape: One take-away from this shoot is that blending textures is a great way to make an impact! You see this especially with the centerpiece design which uses a green moss runner, over-sized clear glass vases, moss orbs, and succulent terrariums with black river stones. Guests sitting at this table will adore the energetic vibe!

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Cake: A generous dusting of gold flakes and a sleek white ribbon band make this cake quite lovely but the addition of the flowers and greenery take it to the next level!

Bright Garden Wedding Inspiration | The Venue: Tempe Mission Palms is considered the hidden gem of Tempe, AZ. The hotel is located right off of Mill Avenue and has six different options for ceremony and cocktail receptions along with three options for both indoor and outdoor reception spaces. The flexible options are endless and the planning is up to your imagination!

Painted Desert Themed Rehearsal Dinner | Phoenix, Arizona
categories: fabulous reception sites, rehearsal dinner spots, Wedding Inspiration

Since there are many events besides the actual wedding to plan for, couples often consider the entire wedding weekend (or a whole week in some cases) a party and keep their out of town guests top of mind. Alison and Jon did just that when they hosted a welcome rehearsal dinner at El Chorro in Paradise Valley. The couple enlisted the help of Elite Circle wedding planner Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings + Events to plan a painted desert themed rehearsal dinner where guests were treated to delicious southwest inspired food and El Chorro’s legendary views. Surely it will inspired you to include a bit of our gorgeous desert at one of your events!

A Painted Desert Themed Rehearsal Dinner: The Inspiration: The inspiration for our rehearsal dinner was painted desert! My husband, Jon is originally from Boston and while I grew up in Arizona, most of our guests came from out of town so we really wanted to showcase the desert and have our guests feel like they were on vacation at a “desert oasis.” We chose El Chorro because of its rich, authentic Arizona history, breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain, and classic southwestern cuisine. Jon‘s mom, Janie, really took the reins with the design and planning of the evening and worked closely with Victoria and Brooke to create our painted desert themed rehearsal dinner.

Hand-painted luminarias, traditionally used as Christmas lanterns in the Southwest, set the stage for the evening.

A Painted Desert Themed Rehearsal Dinner | Favorite Part: My favorite part of the evening was walking in and seeing all of our friends and family there as well as seeing the decor. Since I didn’t have too much involvement in planning the evening, I was totally surprised by the desert themed menu sign, watercolor seating chart, flowers, linens, personalized luminaria bags, etc. It was so fun to see the vision of the evening come to life.

A Painted Desert Themed Rehearsal Dinner | Pre-wedding Party: Our rehearsal dinner was very different from our wedding, although they did both incorporated watercolors! The rehearsal dinner decor and vibe was more casual, laid back and funky with pops of vibrant colors while our wedding was much more romantic and whimsical and had more muted colors/pastels. The floral designs for the rehearsal dinner brought in many elements from the desert while our wedding floral designs had more of an enchanted garden feel.

The couple welcomed guests for the weekend with a custom bag filled with local Arizona favorites, a “Recovery Kit”, and a personalized watercolor door hanger—Alison and Jon’s out of town guests were treated to southwestern hospitality right from the start!

A Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Aimee and Erik
categories: destination weddings and honeymoons, fabulous reception sites, real weddings, Scottsdale Weddings, Wedding Inspiration

classically elegant Arizona wedding _ Phoenix Bride and Groom_El Chorro_Ryan Nicole Photography

Aimee and Erik’s classically elegant Arizona wedding is the stuff dreams are made of—there’s a beautifully in love couple, a stunning setting, a plethora of emotion, and of course the romantic “I do” moment. You’ll love the pretty Southwest-meets-Georgia details (the bride is from the south) and the surprise reception performance!

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Color Palette: The inspiration for our colors came from the natural landscape of the venue. El Chorro is beautiful, so I wanted something that complemented it rather than trying to do something that looked out of place. My colors were peach and patina. Patina is the color of eucalyptus which is my favorite shade of green and I choose peach, because I’m a Georgia peach! The colors played well together.

Aimee’s “father’s first look” is one of the sweetest we’ve seen—just look at her dad’s priceless reaction!

And of course the couple’s own first look was pretty special too

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Ceremony: Aimee and Erik chose to exchange vows at El Chorro’s manicured event lawn that’s nestled at the base of the mountains between Camelback & Mummy Mountains; chairs were draped with eucalyptus garland and satin ribbon. The couple’s dog Archer was given the honor of ring bearer and he played the role expertly!

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Favorite Moment: It’s hard to pick one moment that stands out as our favorite when the day itself was filled with so many wonderful moments. However, there is one moment that will forever be burned into my heart.  It was the ceremony. Standing up, in front of our friends and family, professing our love and commitment to each other was something that I never imagined. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the fun wedding planning details like linens, signature cocktails and bridesmaid dresses. However, it all comes down to the one you are marrying… I remember standing under the arbor across from Erik, holding hands–looking deep into each others eyes. I remember how green his eyes were in that moment and how tightly we held onto each others hands. His eyes were filled with so much love, trust and commitment. Everyone else faded away and we were in our own little world.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Cocktail Hour: While Aimee and Erik strolled through El Chorro’s immaculate grounds, guests enjoyed the outdoor patio at the venue and sipped on margaritas; Aimee’s mother lovingly created the gold frame escort card display.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Reception: Guests proceeded into Casa Paloma for the reception. The room was decorated with both classic and distinct touches; gold and cream linens bore an aztec pattern, floral arrangements of greenery, peach and fresh white flowers topped each table, and peaches served as place card holders. Aimee and Erik chose to dine at a sequined sweetheart table where they had the best view of their loved ones.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Big Surprise: During my maid of honor’s speech, she welcomed up the best man (groom’s brother) to “help give the speech”. Much to our surprise, they busted out in song and dance with their own rendition of the “Erik and Aimee love story”. They rapped, verbatim, our love story. It was hilarious. At the very end of their song all the wedding guests got up from their chairs and headed onto the dance floor for a flashmob. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life. All our friends and family did a choreographed routine to “Uptown Funk”

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Elite Circle Wedding Vendors: We choose El Chorro because its breathtaking of course! We had dinner there when we were visiting my father who lives Scottsdale a few years back. After we got engaged, Erik and I started discussing venue locations right away. He brought up El Chorro and it was no-brainer for me. Scottsdale is not only where my father lives, but it’s a fun location for a destination wedding…Believe it or not, I interviewed 7 wedding coordinators over the phone. I used to be in corporate events so finding the right person to spearhead our wedding was very important to me. I needed someone that would understand my type-A personality and be “on-it”.  As we say in the south “The devil’s in the details”. Stephanie from A Day to Cherish knocked it out of the park on our initial phone call. She really sold me on the fact that she knew our venue like the back of her hand. Plus, she has a similar working style that I have. She was very responsive over email, which was critical for planning a wedding remotely.  To top it off, she has a great rapport with the El Chorro staff.

Aimee and Erik, congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your classically elegant Arizona wedding with us!

Remy + Andy’s Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician
categories: fabulous reception sites, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Mike Olbinski Photography

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician: Remy and Andrew planned the loveliest wedding at the iconic The Phoenician Scottsdale where many couples choose to exchange vows due to the property’s lush surroundings, grand ballrooms, and legendary service.

Bride Remy tells us about her unique “progressive” style wedding: We had an outdoor evening ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner outdoors then an indoor ‘after party’ in one of the ballrooms. Each area was decorated slightly differently so that the evening slowly progressed from a soft romantic ceremony to a fun party atmosphere, using gradual changes in lighting, flowers, and decor to provide overall continuity.

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Mike Olbinski Photography Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Mike Olbinski Photography

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician | The Ceremony: The couple exchanged vows in a magical setting—The Phoenician Scottsdale’s Orchid Lawn— where they were surrounded by twinkle lights, candles, and a chandelier overhead; guests sipped prosecco and craft beers during the ceremony—an idea we adore!

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Mike Olbinski Photography

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician | Cocktail Hour: The evening began with an outdoor cocktail hour underneath a draped canopy—the white draping was embedded with twinkle lights to make it glow. Dandelion chandeliers were hung over three mirrored tables that featured small red, white, and green floral arrangements placed in mirrored vases.

One of our favorite touches was monogrammed, silver-framed photos of our grandparents and parents on their respective wedding days, placed on the cocktail tables along with different F. Scott Fitzgerald love quotes printed in script and bordered in assorted frames.

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding Magazine_Mike Olbinski Photography

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician | The ReceptionMy favorite touch was the printed menu imposed with monogrammed matches and sparklers for guests to light upon our entrance…for dinner on the lawn, the central focal point was a large chandelier that hung above a black and white checkered dance floor. Overhead glimmering lights anchored the space.

Progressive Wedding at The Phoenician | The After Party: Guests progressed into the ballroom that had white draping and pink up-lighting; the couple participated in a raucous hora (a dance where guests hoist the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs to the “Hava Nagila”) and several guests joined in.

White lounge furniture and switching to a DJ for the music created a club-like atmosphere. To match the mood, I changed into a tea length princess gown with a sparkling bodice. Here we served our cake, along with small dessert bites and late night pizza to make sure no one went hungry!

We love that Remy chose to attend her after party in a tea-length gown that had a crystal bodice!

Elite Circle Wedding Florist in Arizona | Butterfly Petals
categories: floral inspiration, Meet Our Friends, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

To say that Mandi, owner and principal designer of Butterfly Petals, is creative or talented doesn’t quite do her work justice. Mandi is a visionary. She doesn’t do what everyone else does—she works with materials that are completely unexpected and somehow infuses her passion for desert inspired floral into every single thing she touches. By the time you’re finished reading this, you’ll want this well-known Elite Circle wedding florist in Arizona to design for you, we just know it! But first, you simply MUST get to know Mandi and the philosophy that drives Butterfly Petals…

(Photographer: Eyes 2 See, Location: Phoenix Art Museum, Wedding Planner: A Day to Cherish, Florist: Butterfly Petals, Invitations: Celebrations In Paper, Rentals: Classic Party Rentals)

What do you think makes Butterfly Petals a stand-out wedding florist in Arizona? In a world where creatives are encouraged to only design to a brand, I decided I love flowers too much to limit myself to one style or look and feel. Yes, we’re known for our rustic desert work, but we’re extremely flexible and can design around anyone’s preferred look and feel. We have a huge inventory of vases and containers to suit everyone’s tastes whether it’s rustic, elegant or modern. I have a great team around me with their own design skill set and we can always pull something awesome together which fits our clients’ needs. We will always be known for our desert designs and I think that’s because I’m an Arizona native and can’t help myself. I have to play with cacti and textures and they seep into my work when left to my own devices.

You’re always a bit ahead of the trends and often use unique elements in your design so we’re dying to know: where do you get your inspiration from? I pay attention to design trends outside the wedding industry. If you see pillows show up in Target with palm leaves, you’re bound to start seeing inspiration shoots for weddings featuring cool tropical greenery and backgrounds. I have a giant pile of home decor catalogs clogging my mailbox, I even see the design trends on shows like Fixer Upper on HGTV. As the wood finishes change on home furnishings, the rental companies start to carry similar pieces in their inventory. It’s gone from Farm tables to upscale Pottery Barn style dining…all in the wedding world. I also try to follow international designers. The boho trend started to take off in Australia and New Zealand where they have access to all the gorgeous protea we’re starting to see in bridal bouquets. Dress designers started adding bell sleeves and everything felt a little 70s/hippy gypsy. Lo and behold, the brides stateside started taking note and suddenly the rental companies are carrying peacock chairs and oriental rugs and we’re designing with pampas grass and protea. Following bridal blogs is helpful as well but once a trend starts it can be a plague of sameness. I always want to be on to the next thing for my clients while still keeping my designs desert-friendly and funky.

What do you want clients to know about their own wedding before meeting with you in order to get the most out of your initial consultation? Know the overall look and feel you want to achieve. Don’t worry too much about zeroing in on exactly what flowers are going to be in each vase and container– instead think about how you want the wedding to feel. Think about your guests walking into the reception space-do you see rustic tables with long flowing garlands or round tables with linen and tall stately centerpieces? Think big picture and we’ll zoom in and fill in those details. It’s also key to know your venue and an approximate idea of how many guests you’ll be inviting, the size of your wedding party and your needs for ceremony, etc. We want to get the initial quotes as accurate as possible so you know what you’re in for.

How do you approach/work with clients that aren’t “flower people”? Most people aren’t flower people. Or at least, most people don’t fill their entire day with thoughts of flower types, seasonal availability, colors, etc. Don’t worry too much about knowing flowers–we’ll fill that in for you. Know the overall look and feel you’re going for and we’ll help you with the rest. If you just don’t think you want a ton of flowers or never envisioned lush floral design at your wedding–that’s ok too. Flowers add a lot but I’m very practical in my approach. Everyone is going to want something unique at their wedding or celebration and sometimes that means very clean and minimal floral.

If you could give couples planning their weddings your top piece of advice when it comes to flowers, what would you say? Pinterest is a great start but keep in mind, that like most social media, it’s now run by algorithms that feed you results based on what everyone else is pinning and drawn to. They’re pulling gorgeous photo-ready weddings from Style Me Pretty and other inspirational blogs that don’t always feature the most affordable floral designs. You’re also getting the same results 100 other clients are getting. Instead of pinning 85 photos of peony bouquets and finding out they aren’t available or are extremely expensive the time of year the wedding occurs, I’d rather my clients start with broad strokes–look for pretty bouquets in your color scheme. Know what you like or don’t like about them–whether it’s the shape or the way the colors balance with each other. It gives us the flexibility of working with mother nature to come up with designs that work in our desert climate as well as designs which suit every look, feel and budget. It also gives us a little creativity. This is what we do after all, and a little trust in your designer’s skills will give you a gorgeous result every time.

What floral trends or new floral design options are you seeing that you’re excited about? Color is coming back. We’ve been dancing around the same shades of blush, gold or peach and mint for the last several years. Gorgeous weddings every time but there’s something refreshing about a client who wants to use deep plums and fuchsia or a client who wants strong yellows. It allows us to work with floral we haven’t been using in the last few years like exotic orchids or calla lilies. Bold flowers that make a statement.
