Rachel and David’s spring wedding in the desert was one gorgeous affair! The couple, whose guests were mostly from out of town, planned a wedding with the desert in mind including a pretty color palette of copper and rose gold; succulents, paired with large pink peonies and peach roses, were everywhere—as it should be when planning a wedding in Arizona! Enjoy their perfect day at El Chorro, in the heart of Paradise Valley:

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Thoughtful Details: Rachel and David’s wedding had so many sweet and thoughtful touches. From David surprising Rachel with a London blue Topaz ring (the couple intends for it to become a family heirloom), to the locket that first belonged to David’s great-great grandfather that was presented to David by his brother/best man during a toast, to Rachel using her great-grandmother’s handbag, the couple focused on family and tradition in the most beautiful ways.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Favorite Moment: Seeing each other for the first time was our favorite memory as a couple (we did our first look prior to the ceremony). Walking down the aisle with my father was also a very special moment and the most emotional for me.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | The Ceremony: The ceremony took place in El Chorro’s Herb Garden—a sweet and intimate place to exchange vows. Rachel and David planned a “desert chic garden party” wedding so the atmosphere was a perfect fit; rose petals lined the aisle, greenery was draped across the last row of chairs, saguaro cactus skeletons framed the altar, and an artful design of roses, succulents, and cacti finished off the look.

Rachel recalls: I love cacti and succulents and wanted both incorporated into soft, romantic floral arrangements along with my favorite flowers: peonies, ranunculus, and David Austin roses. The desert sunset was the inspiration for our wedding colors, and blush became the focal color along with rose gold and copper accents.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Cocktail Hour: Guests enjoyed prickly pear margaritas and contemporary music during cocktail hour then headed to the South Lawn for a family style Southern-inspired dinner.

Spring Wedding in the Desert |  The Reception: The reception was at El Chorro’s South Lawn—the venue provides a beautiful space for intimate weddings with the most spectacular views of Mummy Mountain. We love Rachel’s description of the table: shimmery blush linens, antique pink glassware, copper and rose gold accents (provided by the chairs), chargers, and flatware, and the beautiful greenery with soft flowers and candles down the center all took my breath away. The antique furniture located at the outdoor fireplaces was so elegant and inviting to our guests to sit together and socialize throughout the evening.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | The Sugar: Rachel and David’s adoration for the desert extended to their choice of cake and sweets as well! Cactus themed sugar cookies and mini-cupcakes flanked the almond strawberry and pink velvet half-dressed wedding cake that also bore a prickly pear cactus pad.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Vendor Love: A big reason I chose El Chorro was because of Lindsey Rendon, their event sales manager. She is just lovely and so accommodating. I had a great experience touring the venue with her and loved all the outdoor space. El Chorro has beautiful landscaping and desert terrain, which is exactly what we wanted. A Day to Cherish is one of El Chorro’s preferred vendors, and I read great reviews online. After speaking with Stephanie over the telephone, I knew she was the right person for the job. She is just so sweet, easy going, and fun to work with. She and Lindsey were both a godsend.

Guests enjoyed dancing until the wee hours in the Classroom Bar that is an extension of the South Lawn area at the venue; florist Butterfly Petals softened the western decor and adorned the taxidermy with flower crowns (so clever!).

Wedding Invitation Trends for 2017
categories: the paper chase, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Since wedding stationery has progressed from a simple invitation into full-circle stationery “suites”, it’s important to know what the trends are and what new designs and options are available to you. Our Elite Circle stationers have been in the business for years and know what’s in and what’s out. They’ve graciously shared their trend insights to give you an idea of what to expect when you go about choosing your wedding stationery for your 2017/2018 wedding:

Celebrations in Paper: I am seeing a lot more great quality stock and tons of foil.  So where in the past a bride would order an invitation with either thermography or letterpress for the text and print their names only in foil, now they want all printing done in foil.  It’s a gorgeous look.

Be in Love Designs: I’m seeing couples using an insert called a web card that refers guests to a website for wedding information and online RSVPing. Another trend I am seeing is either poster sized menus or programs instead of one per person.

Designing/choosing wedding stationery is one aspect of wedding planning that many couples look forward to- you get to choose paper colors, styles, shapes, wording, etc. alongside your stationer and maybe it’s just us, but we think that sounds like fun! Since the tone and formality of your wedding is determined by the invitation you send, working with a stationer who “gets” you is paramount.

Our best advice is to choose to hire someone who not only offers a wide variety of stationery but who also really listens to you and offers custom design options (if that’s the route you and your budget want to take). Check out our Elite Circle stationery experts and enjoy using these wedding invitation trends in your stationery suite!

Our yellow and grey wedding inspiration shoot at The Paseo shows off this relatively new property in the best light- the warm tones of the decor coupled with the stunning view at the venue make it so gorgeous!

Yellow and Grey Wedding Inspiration: The ceremony set up for this wedding inspiration shoot is unlike any other ceremony you’ll see. The couple is elevated on a wooden platform so all guests have a good view of the vows (and the kiss!) while they lounge in plush upholstered couches and chairs set among grey and yellow flower arrangements and rustic tables. We love this casual chic mood!

Phoenix Art Mueum Wedding_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding_Eyes 2 see photography (1)

Alexa and Ian’s spring Phoenix Art Museum Wedding has all kinds of wedding goodness- the couple has a deep love for family and tradition, they included beautiful desert inspired details and the pair didn’t let a little rain dampen their spirits (they were actually happy that it was a rainy day even though it meant moving their ceremony from it’s original outdoor location!).

What was most important to you as you two planned your wedding? When you first get started, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed by all the details. It was important to us to stay focused on what our wedding day was truly about, not the dress, the flowers or the food, it was about our dreams coming true and finally getting married! When you go in with that attitude, nothing can get in your way of having the perfect day.

Phoenix Art Mueum Wedding_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding_Eyes 2 see photography (2)

We were drawn to Alexa and Ian’s wedding for many reasons but one aspect we particularly admire are the choices they made throughout their wedding day- many details had meaning and were chosen carefully. For example, we’ll let Alexa explain the meaning behind the nuggets of the Sikhote- Alin meteor they gifted each  groomsmen:  Ian and I love astronomy and he wanted to get his three brothers a groomsmen gift that was timeless, unique and irreplaceable – so pieces of meteorite came to mind.  He bought 4 pieces (1 for himself too) of the same asteroid that collided with Russia in 1947. These pieces of meteorite will be around virtually forever, and we liked the idea of the four brothers being able to pass them down to our next generation and keeping these timepieces in the family.

A second first look…the tish and bedeken took place where Rabbi Yossi Levertov led a traditional orthodox service. It was as if we saw each other for the first time all over again when Ian came to veil Alexa. The cheering, singing and overall energy was so exciting and the anticipation for the wedding ceremony to come could be felt throughout the room.

Phoenix Art Mueum Wedding_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding_Eyes 2 see photography (5)

A Phoenix Art Museum Wedding Ceremony: The couple had planned to get married outside but since there was rain, their vendor team relocated it indoors. This change didn’t seem to phase the couples at all and the result was a gorgeous ceremony, regardless of the indoor location. Since Alexa really wanted details that celebrated the desert, her florist, Buttefly Petals, designed flower arrangements for the chuppah that blended greenery and desert inspired flowers perfectly.

Looking back, what was your favorite moment of the day? There were so many special moments, especially during our ceremony. We had our parents with us under the Chuppah and our siblings surrounding us as our bridal party. If we had to pick one, it would be when Ian kissed his bride! The music started up, the audience cheered, we were surrounded by so much love from our family and friends, and in that moment we were officially husband and wife. All the planning and anticipation came down to that moment, it was surreal.

A Phoenix Art Museum Wedding Reception: Following the intimate ceremony, our guests were offered a variety of hors d’oeuvres and an open bar at cocktail hour. The cocktail hour concluded with guests being invited into the reception room. The elegant yet funky decor was enhanced throughout the reception space utilizing a mix of metallic vases with gold charger plates and gray linens against the pop of rich floral arrangements incorporating succulents and cacti.

A Phoenix Art Museum Wedding Sweets Table: A mini cactus-topped cake was the centerpiece of a lavish dessert table that included cupcakes, jelly beans, and chocolates. There was something for everyone at this sweets table!

Any surprises or things you would change? Aside from the rainy weather in sunny Arizona, there were truly no surprises. And if there were, we didn’t know about them! A Day to Cherish provided an amazing team that kept the entire day running smoothly from start to finish. We just showed up and had the best day ever, they took care of the rest.

Congratulations Alexa and Ian and thank you for sharing your Phoenix Art Museum wedding with us!
