outdoor engagement session in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography

OK Natasha and Crosby, we see you. We adore you. We need to redo our own engagement photos… ha ha!

When Elite Circle photographer Tracy Battaglia from Fully Alive Photography sent us this gorgeous outdoor engagement session in Arizona- at Desert Botanical Garden and Papago Park to be exact- we had some serious engagement session envy. These two have it all- a fun demeanor, a good dose of sexiness, the most perfect desert backdrop with pops of color and a very cool sense of style. Enjoy every juicy minute of this one readers!

The couple met through a dating app, chatted online and eventually met in person. It’s been 2 years since that fateful meeting and here they are, engaged and getting married in December!

Desert Botanical Garden is such a lovely setting for an outdoor engagement session in Arizona because it has all kinds of winding paths, desert flowers and cacti and interesting architecture as well.

Favorite Things:

Crosby: How she can make me smile every single waking second. We have such a similar taste of culture and lust for adventure, and she’s really opened my eyes to a lot of awesome stuff that I don’t think I would have experienced so fully.

Natasha: He is the best partner to journey through all the winding paths of life with; his passion for life is infectious. He helps me see the brighter side of the darkest of situations, and never fails to make me laugh.

With the warm sunlight and cool shady spots, Fully Alive Photography took full advantage of the perfect weather for this outdoor engagement session in Arizona

We’re a whole lot in love with the quiet tenderness captured in this photo

Ideal Date Night: Good food followed by live music at a dive bar, maybe skee-ball.

The Proposal: Crosby proposed to me on 12/26/15, which also happens to be my birthday. He, along with my closest friends, arranged a circus themed birthday party for me at their house, but kept the surprise of the proposal. Crosby even had my best friend from California come down to be a part of the event. I was dressed as the ringmaster, and he in full vintage clown makeup. He filled the room with so many of my dearest friends and actually dropped to both knees while proposing. Needless to say, I said yes immediately! I was totally surprised and spent much of the night in awe of how much love filled that entire home.

How did you choose Fully Alive Photography? When I was first planning my wedding, one of my closest friends and I went to a bridal expo in downtown Phoenix. I was immediately struck by how gorgeous Tracy’s photos were; so many beautiful compositions and colors. After I had the opportunity to experience her warm and genuine demeanor in person, I was sold.

Congratulations Natasha and Crosby and thank you for letting us feature your engagement session- we can’t wait to hear about the wedding!

Engagement Photo Session in Tempe, Arizona
categories: Engagement, photography

Angel and Imelda’s love story starts in the cutest way- they were enrolled in a high school French class and Imelda, who had recently moved to the States and hadn’t refined her English skills yet, knew she needed a partner who would be willing to help with both her English and French. She spotted Angel, who seemed very nice and sweet, and they hit it off! Today we’re sharing their engagement photo session in Tempe and you’ll love this couple’s sweetness and adoration for each other.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Imelda: He makes me feel extremely comfortable with myself. Even from our first date I felt like I could be the best version of myself without even trying.

Angel: I love how creative and kind she is. She’s always working on something. And she’s outgoing and she takes so much initiative. For example, the house. She goes over every detail; inside to out.

Ideal date night: Going out to a new restaurant with food from a different culture with a group of our best friends. Definitely trying new food and trying something new.

engagement photo session _arizona_phoenix-bride-and-groom_something-new-media

The Proposal: After many years of dating, we decided to start attending a church together and eventually a Friday night Bible study with friends. Valentine’s Day was coming up and Imelda wanted to know if we had plans. I had something up my sleeve but didn’t let Imelda know; we were just going to bible study that Friday evening, nothing else. During the prayer exchange, everyone wrote notes and threw them into a fish bowl to read aloud. When it came time for Imelda to read hers, she started reading and realized it was the first half of First Corinthians 13:4. As the words ended, I finished the rest of the Bible verse and got down on one knee to propose to her. She was surrounded by her closest group of friends and family and it could not have been more perfect.

The couple’s engagement photo session was in downtown Tempe on Mill Avenue- the street has so much energy so it’s definitely a fun location!

How did you choose Something New Media for your engagement photo session? We had seen their work through social media and from the moment we saw it, we knew they were right choice. In talking about our wedding with friends and family, we knew exactly what we wanted and Something New Media was it.

What are you most excited about regarding your wedding? We are most excited to have everyone enjoy the wedding with us…after the ceremony, we envision people just surrounding us. It’s only really one day ever that you get everyone you love and enjoy surrounding you. It’s just amazing to have that captured.

Angel and Imelda, thank you for sharing your engagement photo session with us and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

categories: fabulous reception sites, Giveaways and Contests, photography

Ryan and Allie, our Summer Fall issue giveaway winners, were super duper lucky- they won a 2 night Tower Suite stay for two at Hotel Valley Ho plus they got their photos taken by Elite Circle photographer Eyes 2 See Photography!

This is Hotel Valley Ho’s main entrance- we absolutely love this iconic hotel for it’s retro style and fun atmosphere

How they met: Allie and I met at Central High School about 11-12 years ago. I was a junior playing football and Allie was a sophmore cheerleader. I had a mutual friend who was also a cheerleader introduce us and hit it off from there. We went our separate ways after H.S when Allie went to college in California and I stay local, but we stayed in contact over the years and when she moved back we reconnected and now we’re here.

Yes, they’re adorable and so happy to have won!

The Proposal: We took an anniversary trip up to Sedona for the weekend to celebrate. Little did Allie know I had different plans. Early Sat morning we went on out for a hike on our favorite path the Baldwin Trail, I waited till we got to the top of a mountain peak that overlooked the valley and dropped to one knee and proposed. With tears in her eyes, Allie said yes 🙂

Favorite Things: My favorite things about Allie are the way we compliment each other to make a great team, her gorgeous smile, and how affectionate and loving she is.  Allie’s favorite thing about me is my sense of humor and how I can always make her laugh, how much I love her, and my excitement for all the little things.

You’ve got to love the Hotel Valley Ho for it’s unique architecture and design- there’s always a fun photo op just around the corner!

The rooftop offers stunning views of the city and mountains- many couples choose to have their receptions in the spot simply because of the views!

How do you plan to use the giveaway? I think we are planning on using the getaway this summer for a nice escape from the office for both of us. Were both very excited about the couples massage package and Allie is looking forward to lounging and laying out by the pool.

Sara and Eric’s Modern Classic Arizona Engagement Photos
categories: Engagement, photography

“Engagement season” just wrapped up and since we’re headed towards Valentine’s Day, which can also be a big day for marriage proposals, we think Sara and Eric’s Arizona engagement photos are perfectly timed. What do we especially love about this session from Elite Circle photographer Eyes 2 See Photography? Besides the gorgeous pictures themselves, we really like the couple’s modern classic style and the 2 distinct locations for the engagement photos- Sara and Eric live in New York but returned to the desert for their engagement photos because Sara grew up in Arizona and has an appreciation for the desert scenery.

The couple began their session at the Arizona Science Center where the architectural angles and textures of the buildings create a cool urban vibe

Phoenix Bride and Groom_engagement photos_Eyes 2 See Photography (1)

The proposal: We had a trip planned to Jamaica and Eric wanted to propose ahead of time, using the trip as an engagement celebration. He planned an elaborate night out in NYC and wanted to propose in front of an iconic NYC landmark. I broke my ring finger the day of the planned proposal and Eric had to improvise. He brought the ring with him to Jamaica a few days later and proposed under a beautiful gazebo on the water on our first night in Jamaica. Needless to say, we still got to celebrate on the trip.

Eyes 2 See Photography also captured some of that golden Arizona sunlight- now were feeling all cozy!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_engagement photos_Eyes 2 See Photography (4) Phoenix Bride and Groom_engagement photos_Eyes 2 See Photography (5)

Ideal date night: We love going for dinner and drinks at a restaurant we’ve never tried before.

Favorite things: We love that we make each other laugh. Sara loves Eric’s kindness and sincerity and Eric loves Sara’s tenacity and warmth.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_engagement photos_Eyes 2 See Photography (6)

The location for Sara and Eric’s engagement photos then took a turn to South Mountain- the largest municipal park in the United States and one of the largest urban parks in North America.

Engaged couples love this location for their engagement photos because the desert landscape is unique (sometimes you’ll cross paths with a rattlesnake or gila monster!), the views are breathtaking, and there are quite a few unique buildings to explore. The rustic slab stone buildings provide an excellent juxtaposition for engagement photos (the structures are the result of the government’s efforts to put Americans back to work during the Depression).

What are you looking forward to most at your wedding? That moment when we first see each other. We plan on doing a first look, so we are excited that we will have some time alone to cherish that special moment together and then join our friends and family for the ceremony.

Why Eyes 2 See Photography for your engagement photos? They are so talented! Their work is the perfect mix of traditional and artsy, as evidenced by our amazing engagement pictures. And Nicole is so friendly it’s hard not to like her!

Couple the fact that Lauren dated Matthew for a decade with her history as an industry insider (she worked at Sanctuary on Camelback for several years) and you get one excited bride! Not only was Lauren thrilled to be saying “I Do” but her family and friends were overjoyed and Katrina Wallace Photographers captured all the emotional moments of the day perfectly.

A color palette of soft blue, lavender and grey allowed for some fun pops of orange throughout the wedding- stationery along with the reception decor featured the vibrant hue. The the bridesmaid’s bouquets included a gentler tone- peach- so as not to overwhelm the otherwise delicate palette.

The couple wed in June so they headed north, closer to Flagstaff, to escape the heat of the Phoenix area. Foxboro Ranch Estates offers lots of green trees and a beautiful lake- a lovely backdrop for a wedding!

The bride’s favorite flower, parrot tulips, brightened the cocktail hour and reception decor; natural elements were used in the details for a slightly rustic feel while candles added a nice overall warmth.

Riley and Tad play by their own rules and it’s a good thing they do otherwise they wouldn’t have gotten together! Despite being warned by Riley’s brother to NOT hit on his sister, Tad kind of did anyway. And that first night they met, at Zipp’s watching football, Tad and Riley created a game together that they still  enjoy playing. They also exchanged numbers in secret…see what I mean about not following the rules?!

The Proposal: It was Father’s Day and I set my alarm extra early to make Tad a wonderful breakfast! However, Tad’s alarm went off before mine. I asked him why he had an alarm set and he said it must have been an accident. However, he decided to get up so that we could make cookies for his dad (at 6:30am?!). He insisted that he go to the store at that moment to get all the ingredients. Still a little confused from waking up so early, I agreed. When he left, I started to make the breakfast I had planned and looked for his Father’s Day gift (which I couldn’t find!!). I thought he would be quick at the store, since we only needed butter and measuring cups, so I quickly made his breakfast. Then, I waited and waited! I started to get worried because he had been gone for 45 minutes. Tad came home and came into the room where I was pouting. He then said, “I have some bad news, they didn’t have any measuring cups…” I annoyingly replied, “Of course they didn’t!!” Then he said, “But they did have this…” When I looked down I saw Tad on one knee, holding a beautiful ring. He then asked me to marry him and I said “Yes!”. Turns out he was gone so long because he was asking my parents if he could marry me (a little late if you ask me, but better late than never!!)

Favorite Things:

Riley: Where do I even begin explaining Tad!? Tad truly has a heart of gold. He is always there for me, Addison, his family and friends whenever we are in need. He brings a smile to my face every single day, whether it be with his “wonderful” singing voice while he is giving Addie a bath, showing off his dance moves (which he is very proud of) or taking his shirt off in the middle of a bar, he always lights up my life. One of my very favorite things about Tad is his love of life and how he always wants to have a good time in any situation. We always have fun together and I can’t wait to have fun for the rest of our lives together!

Tad: One of the main things I love about Riley is how we can have fun together in any situation, it is what has drawn us together since the beginning. She loves to have a good time and we can be our weird selves together. I can always count on her to make up a fun game, throw an amazing surprise birthday party or leave me postit notes in my lunch. Riley makes our family whole by being the best mother to our daughter and always showing me love and support. Without her I would be lost in this mixed up world.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding Magazine_Hgerty Photography_Engagement_Downtown Scottsdale_Riley and Tad (5) © Hagerty Photography

Ideal date night: Ordering pizza, drinking some beer/wine and watching Shark Tank!

Downtown Scottsdale is always a favorite spot for engagements because you get the urban vibe and a park setting in close proximity to each other. Arizona’s sunsets are pretty amazing too so plan for some early evening photos if you want that “sweetlight”.
