champagne and pink wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom magazine_Arizona wedding_Ben and Kelly photography_The Phoenician

Chrissy and Paul’s champagne and pink wedding in Arizona began with a dream—as a little girl, Chrissy saw a wedding being set up at The Phoenician and she vowed then and there it would be her wedding venue. This isn’t as uncommon as you might think! One thing about The Phoenician that we hear consistently from couples who chose to wed there is that there is a strong feeling of nostalgia surrounding the property. We love that Chrissy was able to return to the place she always dreamed of for her wedding and you’ll love everything about it!

Champagne and Pink wedding in Arizona: The ceremony took place at The Phoenician’s Orchid Lawn which offers a lush green backdrop and a fountain; peonies, roses, ranunculus and hydrangeas were used in the floral designs. champagne and pink wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom magazine_Arizona wedding_Ben and Kelly photography_The Phoenician

Champagne and Pink wedding in Arizona: The Phoenician offers several ballrooms for wedding receptions which can accommodate up to 200+ guests; Chrissy and Paul’s decor was a beautiful combination of ivory, champagne and pink with gold accents. The up-lighting provided a feeling of intimacy which is helpful when you have such a grand room!

Blaise & Gina’s Country Club Wedding in Phoenix
categories: floral inspiration, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

country club wedding in phoenix _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Wedding Magazine_Rachel Solomon_Victoria Canada Weddings

There is something so very captivating about Gina and Blaise and their country club wedding in Phoenix—perhaps it’s their laid back style, perhaps it’s the expertly designed decor? Either way, we absolutely love this wedding and we know you will too!

The Proposal: Blaise proposed to me in front of my entire family on top of Table Mountain in Cape Town, South Africa (where my family is from). I soon found out that I was the only one who wasn’t in on the proposal, and I was swept off my feet! That day my mom gave me a stack of bridal and wedding magazines so we could begin the planning. My mom and I had been dreaming of my wedding day since I was a little girl–and now we could finally plan the real thing!

What was most important to you as you planned your wedding? When Blaise and I were asked by our wedding planner what we wanted on our wedding day, we both agreed that the most important thing is that everyone have the most fun time at our wedding. We are both pretty simple people; we didn’t want extra “stuff.” We didn’t want a photo booth or games and activities. We just wanted everyone to be present with us in a beautiful setting and to share in our happiness.

Country Club Wedding in Phoenix Ceremony: The wedding was originally planned to be outdoors but the weather had other plans. Luckily, the couple was working with Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings + Events who swept in with “plan B”, located a clear top tent at the last minute, and made the ceremony even more amazing than the couple dreamed it could be!

Gina recalls: Our amazing wedding planner, Victoria Canada, told us not to worry and found the most beautiful tent for our outdoor ceremony just days before the wedding. It ended up being even more beautiful and magical than we could have ever imagined–the lights strung across the tent made it feel like we were getting married under the stars.

From the planner: Gina wanted her floral to be bold but romantic; the result was floral that felt lush and overflowing, a bit wild but still elegant.

The clear top tent was strung with lights which made the atmosphere for the ceremony quite magical!

Looking back, what is your favorite moment of the day? Our favorite moment of the wedding day was being surrounded by all of our amazing family and friends and dancing and celebrating with everyone. We felt so much love and support the entire day.

Country Club Wedding in Phoenix Reception: Guests proceeded into the ballroom for dinner and revelry amidst a sophisticated and lush garden setting; tables were dressed with deep jade linens, light and airy drape to soften the overall effect of the room, glowing candlelight, rustic centerpieces, botanic inspired chandeliers and shimmering gold detailing.

One thing that caught our attention about this reception is how there are so many layers of beautiful decor—it all comes together to create a masterfully designed reception that fits the personality of the couple to a “t”.

This country club wedding in Phoenix is just the dreamiest—just imagine walking into this room?!

Sweetness: Blaise and I literally smiled so much our cheeks hurt. We are so grateful to everyone who made the day come together so flawlessly. Our amazing parents provided so much love and support, and our incredible team of vendors and Victoria Canada Weddings and Events made our dream a reality.

The four-tier “half dressed” wedding cake was also topped with the perfectly sophisticated and slightly wild flowers!

20 Times the Groom Stole Our Hearts
categories: Grooms, photography, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

We love grooms. It sounds like a pretty simple statement but when you consider that the groom often plays a supporting role to his gorgeous bride, you can understand they they often get overlooked. But today the guys take center stage as we share 20 times the groom stole our hearts. These guys showed everything we love about them- strength, tenderness, love, emotion and fun.

20 Times the Groom Stole Our Hearts: First looks are often the sweetest time of the wedding day- it’s their own private little moment to share the excitement and soak in what’s to come. We find that many grooms get emotional when they see their love for the first time that day.

This first look is especially sweet because the groom has a first look with his soon to be daughter and the emotion of the situation is tangible

Arizona Wedding Vendor Spotlight: Vermilion Events and Design Group/T Weddings and Events
categories: Meet Our Friends, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

Wedding planner David Twigger of Vermilion Events and Design Group/T Weddings and Events is one of those people that you just KNOW is going to make your wedding planning experience better. He has a real passion for coordinating events and event design and is a constant presence in the Arizona wedding community as well. Since we are huge proponents of hiring a wedding planner to help you navigate the wedding planning process and provide expert guidance on your wedding day, we want you to get to know him better!

Where does your inspiration for planning events come from? I have a long and diverse history in the hospitality industry. Everything from hotels to DMC’s to private venues and this intricate combination of experience has fueled my love for creating events. The entire process is what I love. Taking an idea through the conception to design to execution is incredibly exhilarating for me.

What do you think makes your services and/or talents unique to the wedding industry? My diverse background makes me unique. I have planned and executed wedding from every standpoint. As a catering manager at a hotel or resort to running 2 private venues, to owning my own wedding planning and design company. This unique combination of experiences allows me to take my couples safely and productively through the entire process. Knowing what to ask for, what to look for and how to make it happen.

This is David at his own wedding- he and Emmanuel make such a great couple!

What are your strengths as a wedding planner? I have been told I have 2 top strengths. 1 is thinking proactively. That comes from experience. Being able to think of not only what you are working on but being able to think how that piece will affect the next 2 steps down the road allows me to keep my couples happy. The second is the creativity. 7 National design awards show my passion for event design. I take this passion and talent and I direct that back towards my couple. I pride myself on putting the couple’s tastes, hobbies and personalities into their wedding. Each and every wedding that I do has their stamp on it. Making it pretty is nice, but it’s not personable – that is what I do.

What trends in weddings are you looking forward to this year? Trends are “trending” so fast right now, which tells me that wedding couples are taking their weddings back! I love this! A trend can inspire ideas but don’t lose yourself along the way. If I had to pick a couple, the organic  romanticism is refreshing to see. The naked cakes, the romantic dresses, the organic venue locations and settings. It is a step away from the full on rustic and adding a bit of simplicity into it. I am big on colors as well. I am predicting the next color of the year to be a brilliant shade of yellow. Yes Navy is hot right now but I see color next spring and yellow brings warmth, happiness and true beauty.

What do you want couples to know BEFORE they meet with you to get the most out of your initial consultation? I actually have created a “Getting to know you” sheet that I have couples fill out before we meet. It’s simple and fun, with questions like how did you meet, what do you like to do on Sunday afternoons and please describe your fiancé. It also has a couple of questions about the wedding itself. This allows me to really get to know the couple and to find out if they are on the same page about the wedding. You would be surprised how many couples assume they are but they each have different important parts they are focusing on. It’s fun!

What do you think is the key to a fabulous wedding? I honestly think the MOST important part to a fabulous wedding is making sure you enjoy the wedding process. It’s not just about this one day. Some couples spend a year in the planning stage and this is a stressful or hectic process your day will be as well. Slow down, enjoy all the amazing things you get to do for your wedding. (oh and hire a planner!!:-)

Real Arizona Wedding: Amy and Tim’s Desert Botanical Garden Wedding
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Amy and Tim’s wedding was featured in our Winter Spring issue but we wanted to go back to the beginning… that’s why we’re showing you this engagement photo! See, this is Amy’s horse, and the owners of the stables where she keeps her horse invited her to an ugly Christmas Sweater party since she was new to the area. Amy met Tim at the party- he was dressed as Clark Griswold from Christmas Vacation- and the rest is history.

Phoenix bride and groom_Arizona engagement_desert wedding_Hagerty Photography (1)

But there’s one more fun fact about this couple. Tim actually won a load of cash at a Suns game- he succeeded in making the half court shot at the game! Just like Amy saying yes to marrying him, he seems pretty confident that he was going to make the basket!

And now for their lovely wedding…the orange and turquoise color palette was a perfect pop of color in the desert surround and we really love all the desert inspired touches throughout. Tim proposed to Amy at the Gardens so the venue was the perfect spot to say “I Do”!

Amy and Tim live in Arizona but work on the opposite side of town from where their wedding was and Amy’s wedding day reflections repeatedly come back to how much she and Tim were able to enjoy their day, thanks to their vendors: The day was everything that we could have imagined and that was due, in large part, to the amazing group of vendors that worked together so well. Care from Sterling Weddings and Events was on board from the beginning and helped take our ideas and turn it into a reality…Butterfly Petals was the perfect match …{when meeting with Sarah Hagerty} the  second that we sat down together, it was meant to be. We all bonded over our big curly hair and the rest is history.

You can’t help but love this couple- enjoy their beautiful Arizona inspired wedding!

Favorite moment: …turning the corner with my dad and seeing Tim at the end of the aisle, even though that sounds so cliché. I also was amazed by the outpouring of love and support by all of our family and friends in attendance.

The couple really wanted to highlight what they love about Arizona so they chose succulents and other desert plants, including cacti, as their main “floral” feature. They say that their decision to work with Butterfly Petals was an easy one- they felt that their florist understood their vision perfectly!

What was most important was that we  incorporated details that were unique to our story into the day. One example of this is the cornhole (or bags depending on where you’re from) set that was made for us for the wedding day which represented the day that we met. Tim and I were first introduced by a mutual friend and we hit it off playing cornhole on opposing teams. We also wanted our food selection to represent what we loved so we combined Tim’s love for glazed salmon and my love for pesto into a duo plate with a miso-yaki glazed salmon filet and a pesto marinated chicken breast. All of these touches that we wanted to incorporate were meant to make our guests enjoy every minute of the day.

Arizona Wedding Planner Event- Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, Meet Our Friends, reception ideas, Scottsdale Weddings, trends in catering, Wedding Inspiration

When Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa hosts a party, it’s done with luxury and style in mind, and the Wedding Planner weekend they hosted this summer was no exception; Colleen Davidson, Senior Event Sales Manager at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale, explains the plan for the weekend: We hosted 25 wedding planners and their spouses for a Wedding Planner event where they could stay the entire weekend at the resort and relax as if they were attending a wedding. The weekend allowed the planners and their guest to experience the resort like our clients and their guests would during a wedding weekend.

Friday night was a lovely welcome dinner complete with fun beverages, a well-stocked welcome bag, and lakeside socializing. Victoria Canada of Victoria Canada Weddings & Events tells us about the evening: The Friday night event was so fun! It was hosted lakeside which is always great for atmosphere and we really enjoyed the Arizona inspired wine and cocktails.  They decorated with a nice mix of soft seating and cocktail tables- it was just a perfect evening!

Guest Amina Michelle of Some Like it Classic Wedding Design says: I love the staff- Hyatt always puts on their “A game” to take care of us. Their service is legendary and they were genuine in their hospitality. I loved interacting and sharing in conversation with the staff and other planners the entire weekend. The food is also a huge bonus- they have an incredible team and everything is delicious!!

Colleen tells us about the final event, Sunday brunch: Sunday’s event was a farewell brunch that we wanted to simulate either a daytime Brunch Wedding or a brunch that a couple would host at the end of their wedding weekend. The vision was “feminine and shabby chic with an organic flair.” On the menu we served Fresh Squeezed Juices, Poached Egg Pots with Smoked Salmon, Asparagus and Chipotle Crème Fraiche and we even had a Bananas Foster Belgian Waffle Station.

Care Schmidt of Sterling Weddings & Events was in attendance also, and she thoroughly enjoyed the weekend: Colleen and the crew did an amazing job with menu selection, everything was fresh, creative, and of course delicious. My diet restrictions often take the fun out of dining but the chefs and team there didn’t miss a beat. I am fairly certain I left 5lbs heavier from all the great food! I also loved seeing everyone and their families outside of a work setting.  We were all able to relax, get to know each other and play because there was something for everyone to enjoy at the property.

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona wedding magazine_Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa_Hagerty Photogrpahy_wedding reception ideas (5)

Can you imagine your wedding guests gathering one last time in this setting to fill their bellies and toast you? The look is fresh and feminine with bright pops of color in yellow and fuchsia. Surely all your guests would be on time to this event!

Elite Circle florist Your Event Florist did the floral design for the brunch and we absolutely LOVE the mixture of flowers, fruit, and vegetables in the designs. According to Your Event Florist owner and designer Kevin Reed, the inspiration for the overall look of the brunch was “Southern Tea party collides with Sunny Arizona” so he utilized several sets of silver service as containers for flower arrangements as well as accent decor.  The color palette of cream, pink, yellow, and mint with pops of dark pink invoked the warmth of summer.
