Aimee and Erik’s classically elegant Arizona wedding is the stuff dreams are made of—there’s a beautifully in love couple, a stunning setting, a plethora of emotion, and of course the romantic “I do” moment. You’ll love the pretty Southwest-meets-Georgia details (the bride is from the south) and the surprise reception performance!

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Color Palette: The inspiration for our colors came from the natural landscape of the venue. El Chorro is beautiful, so I wanted something that complemented it rather than trying to do something that looked out of place. My colors were peach and patina. Patina is the color of eucalyptus which is my favorite shade of green and I choose peach, because I’m a Georgia peach! The colors played well together.

Aimee’s “father’s first look” is one of the sweetest we’ve seen—just look at her dad’s priceless reaction!

And of course the couple’s own first look was pretty special too

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Ceremony: Aimee and Erik chose to exchange vows at El Chorro’s manicured event lawn that’s nestled at the base of the mountains between Camelback & Mummy Mountains; chairs were draped with eucalyptus garland and satin ribbon. The couple’s dog Archer was given the honor of ring bearer and he played the role expertly!

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Favorite Moment: It’s hard to pick one moment that stands out as our favorite when the day itself was filled with so many wonderful moments. However, there is one moment that will forever be burned into my heart.  It was the ceremony. Standing up, in front of our friends and family, professing our love and commitment to each other was something that I never imagined. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the fun wedding planning details like linens, signature cocktails and bridesmaid dresses. However, it all comes down to the one you are marrying… I remember standing under the arbor across from Erik, holding hands–looking deep into each others eyes. I remember how green his eyes were in that moment and how tightly we held onto each others hands. His eyes were filled with so much love, trust and commitment. Everyone else faded away and we were in our own little world.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Cocktail Hour: While Aimee and Erik strolled through El Chorro’s immaculate grounds, guests enjoyed the outdoor patio at the venue and sipped on margaritas; Aimee’s mother lovingly created the gold frame escort card display.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Reception: Guests proceeded into Casa Paloma for the reception. The room was decorated with both classic and distinct touches; gold and cream linens bore an aztec pattern, floral arrangements of greenery, peach and fresh white flowers topped each table, and peaches served as place card holders. Aimee and Erik chose to dine at a sequined sweetheart table where they had the best view of their loved ones.

We really love how these two look at each other…

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Dessert: A sweets table included several cakes that were decorated with both southwest accents and peaches; french macrons were detailed with the couple’s favorite sports teams.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | The Big Surprise: During my maid of honor’s speech, she welcomed up the best man (groom’s brother) to “help give the speech”. Much to our surprise, they busted out in song and dance with their own rendition of the “Erik and Aimee love story”. They rapped, verbatim, our love story. It was hilarious. At the very end of their song all the wedding guests got up from their chairs and headed onto the dance floor for a flashmob. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life. All our friends and family did a choreographed routine to “Uptown Funk”

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Late Night Snacks: Aimee and Eric’s favorite snacks, cheeseburger sliders and fries, served as fuel for the evening’s continued revelry.

Classically Elegant Arizona Wedding | Elite Circle Wedding Vendors: We choose El Chorro because its breathtaking of course! We had dinner there when we were visiting my father who lives Scottsdale a few years back. After we got engaged, Erik and I started discussing venue locations right away. He brought up El Chorro and it was no-brainer for me. Scottsdale is not only where my father lives, but it’s a fun location for a destination wedding…Believe it or not, I interviewed 7 wedding coordinators over the phone. I used to be in corporate events so finding the right person to spearhead our wedding was very important to me. I needed someone that would understand my type-A personality and be “on-it”.  As we say in the south “The devil’s in the details”. Stephanie from A Day to Cherish knocked it out of the park on our initial phone call. She really sold me on the fact that she knew our venue like the back of her hand. Plus, she has a similar working style that I have. She was very responsive over email, which was critical for planning a wedding remotely.  To top it off, she has a great rapport with the El Chorro staff.

Aimee and Erik, congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your classically elegant Arizona wedding with us!

Rachel and David’s spring wedding in the desert was one gorgeous affair! The couple, whose guests were mostly from out of town, planned a wedding with the desert in mind including a pretty color palette of copper and rose gold; succulents, paired with large pink peonies and peach roses, were everywhere—as it should be when planning a wedding in Arizona! Enjoy their perfect day at El Chorro, in the heart of Paradise Valley:

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Thoughtful Details: Rachel and David’s wedding had so many sweet and thoughtful touches. From David surprising Rachel with a London blue Topaz ring (the couple intends for it to become a family heirloom), to the locket that first belonged to David’s great-great grandfather that was presented to David by his brother/best man during a toast, to Rachel using her great-grandmother’s handbag, the couple focused on family and tradition in the most beautiful ways.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Favorite Moment: Seeing each other for the first time was our favorite memory as a couple (we did our first look prior to the ceremony). Walking down the aisle with my father was also a very special moment and the most emotional for me.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | The Ceremony: The ceremony took place in El Chorro’s Herb Garden—a sweet and intimate place to exchange vows. Rachel and David planned a “desert chic garden party” wedding so the atmosphere was a perfect fit; rose petals lined the aisle, greenery was draped across the last row of chairs, saguaro cactus skeletons framed the altar, and an artful design of roses, succulents, and cacti finished off the look.

Rachel recalls: I love cacti and succulents and wanted both incorporated into soft, romantic floral arrangements along with my favorite flowers: peonies, ranunculus, and David Austin roses. The desert sunset was the inspiration for our wedding colors, and blush became the focal color along with rose gold and copper accents.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Cocktail Hour: Guests enjoyed prickly pear margaritas and contemporary music during cocktail hour then headed to the South Lawn for a family style Southern-inspired dinner.

Spring Wedding in the Desert |  The Reception: The reception was at El Chorro’s South Lawn—the venue provides a beautiful space for intimate weddings with the most spectacular views of Mummy Mountain. We love Rachel’s description of the table: shimmery blush linens, antique pink glassware, copper and rose gold accents (provided by the chairs), chargers, and flatware, and the beautiful greenery with soft flowers and candles down the center all took my breath away. The antique furniture located at the outdoor fireplaces was so elegant and inviting to our guests to sit together and socialize throughout the evening.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | The Sugar: Rachel and David’s adoration for the desert extended to their choice of cake and sweets as well! Cactus themed sugar cookies and mini-cupcakes flanked the almond strawberry and pink velvet half-dressed wedding cake that also bore a prickly pear cactus pad.

Spring Wedding in the Desert | Vendor Love: A big reason I chose El Chorro was because of Lindsey Rendon, their event sales manager. She is just lovely and so accommodating. I had a great experience touring the venue with her and loved all the outdoor space. El Chorro has beautiful landscaping and desert terrain, which is exactly what we wanted. A Day to Cherish is one of El Chorro’s preferred vendors, and I read great reviews online. After speaking with Stephanie over the telephone, I knew she was the right person for the job. She is just so sweet, easy going, and fun to work with. She and Lindsey were both a godsend.

Guests enjoyed dancing until the wee hours in the Classroom Bar that is an extension of the South Lawn area at the venue; florist Butterfly Petals softened the western decor and adorned the taxidermy with flower crowns (so clever!).
