When you have two simple but important goals for your wedding day like Jessica and Jason did, you know it’s going to be a good day. The couple wanted to A. get married and B. make sure everyone had fun. Done and done!

Proving that Fall weddings don’t have to include traditional fall colors, the couple’s blue and metallic color palette was paired with bright pops of color- we really like how the colors add a fun cheery vibe to the day.

We’re pretty much in love with Jessica’s bouquet- Brady’s Floral Gallery used succulents, eryngium and pin cushion protea along with peonies and roses to make it a stand out

Favorite moment: …our ceremony was my favorite moment of the day. Even though it was half an hour long, it felt like it only lasted five minutes, and it feels like a singular moment. It was so personalized and reflected our values so well; I couldn’t imagine a better way to start our marriage. It is so special to be able to think back on that time and know we started our marriage surrounded by people we love, while hearing and saying words that meant so much. I think the best way I can describe this, is by giving you the vows we repeated to one another. They exemplify the respect, love, friendship, and everything else we put foremost in our relationship.

“You are my lover and my teacher,
You are my model and my accomplice,
You are my best friend.
I will love you, hold you and honor you,
I will respect you, encourage you and cherish you,
In health and sickness,
Through sorrow and success,
For all the days of my life.”

Making it theirs: We had so many fun touches throughout the day too. We wanted to make sure the day reflected our personalities, and that everyone had a great time. Beer burros, corn hole, and giant connect four helped us get the message across that we were there to have fun! Having some games available made sure that even if people didn’t want to dance they still had something to do and had fun. We still have people tell us how much fun they had at our wedding, so I think we were successful!

These two have so much fun together- they are so many pictures of them cracking each other up!

Sparkly linens, copper chargers, bright blue details like the table numbers and menus, and vibrant floral pieces made the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass’s large ballroom inviting and celebratory

Any surprises or things you would change? There is honestly not a single thing I would change. The day couldn’t have gone any better, and unless there is something I’m not aware of, everything went exactly as it should have gone. It probably would have been just as perfect, but by the time the rehearsal started the day before I decided that it was time to relax and let everything unfold. I had spent months preparing and organizing, so I figured at that point there was nothing else I could do and things would go according to plan or not. Thankfully, everything went as planned and any small kinks that happened just weren’t a big deal. We kept our focus on the reasons we were getting married, and making sure everyone celebrating with us could take part in our joy, which led to the perfect day from start to finish.

Melinda and Adam planned a European inspired wedding that went beautifully with the Tuscan architecture of Villa Siena, their wedding venue. An ivory, blush and black color palette with pops of burgundy added to the sophistication of the day.

The burgundy bridesmaid dresses and gorgeous bouquet are perfect for a fall wedding; Melinda looks like a princess!

The ceremony took place in the courtyard and featured garland on the mantle that was designed by the groom’s cousin- it made for a beautiful backdrop to the couple’s I Do’s

The ballroom at Villa Siena is quite famous for it’s grand scale- it is truly a unique venue for Arizona. The couple used black linens and silver napkins for a polished look while a custom menu and French macarons added a European touch. Melinda and Adam’s first dance was to Elton John’s “Your Song” and in the spirit of family tradition, they invited the entire room to join them for the last half of the dance.

It’s pretty safe to say we adore every cake from Piece of Cake Desserts and this 4 tier beauty is no exception. The alternating texture layers and burgundy flowers make it irresistible!

Melinda changed into a gold dress and the couple received a festive sparkler send-off

5 Things We LOVE about Phoenix Bride & Groom Summer Fall 2015!
categories: floral inspiration, from the consultants, Grooms, Meet Our Friends, photography, real weddings, reception ideas, Tips and Advice, trends in catering, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

Our 15th Anniversary issue is a one-of-a-kind issue, even for us. It features 3 different covers, is packed with even more wedding advice from Elite Circle wedding professionals, and is bursting with 17 beautiful Real Weddings! Although you know we love every single page of the magazine (yes, every page), we’ve chosen 5 things that make it exceptional. Enjoy!

#1: Publisher Fran Samuel’s top pick:

My favorite part of the 15th Anniversary issue are the 3 covers. It was a first for us and I can honestly say now that it’s over what a huge project it was. Planning for one cover takes a tremendous amount of time, thought and talent and adding 2 more to the equation was certainly a challenge and one I’m so very proud of. A project of this magnitude of course needed an Elite team of pros who came together with their A- game in play.

The first photo shoot was a celebration At the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale captured by Katrina Wallace Photographers. Followed by the Romance of the Boojum Tree Hidden Gardens and Hagerty Photography. The third shoot was a day full of fun at Sassi with Ben & Kelly Photography.  The combination and style of each cover represented the out of the box talents of each photo shoot team. The many weeks of planning were in the hands of the pros and coming to life. It was a an absolute pleasure working with the amazing and talented Elite Circle Members and worth every detail of the planning process.

#2 Editor Stephanie Riley’s Pick:

One of my favorite things about the 15th anniversary issue is the “Food for Thought” feature. It began as a roundup, asking caterers and resorts about their favorite dishes, but it became so much more! I think this feature is a delicious adventure that helps our readers really think about how creative food choices can set a celebratory tone at their reception. Plus, the pictures are so yummy!

#3 Social Media Writer Kelly Gill’s pick:

I really love 2 things about the “Something for Everyone” article.

First, we’ve made a change in our word choices to reflect an attitude we’ve always had. We have always been a publication that supports brides & brides, brides & grooms, and grooms & grooms and hopefully that’s more obvious than ever. This article aims to include any couple planning their wedding; wedding expos are beneficial to men and women and the time has come for us to use verbiage that makes it clear that everyone is invited to the party. Also, we don’t feel that a separate publication or website is necessary to reflect our support of couples getting married who happen to be same sex couples- that actually seems counter-intuitive to us- so hopefully articles like this one let the Arizona wedding community know where we stand. It’s where we’ve always stood.

Second, our continued efforts to include the groom’s perspective in features such as the “Something for Everyone” article shows that we are walking the walk. We continue to put more emphasis on the groom’s role in wedding planning and it’s a natural fit for us. Men’s fashion, decision making, and design input are in the forefront more than ever and I love that we have embraced that concept!

#4 Editor Stephanie Riley’s Pick (and Kelly Gill’s too):

Another favorite part about the 15th anniversary issue is the “Sweet 15” feature. In each issue of Phoenix Bride & Groom, we offer advice from top wedding professionals. This time, we were able to gather up some of the best advice ever and put it all in one issue. There are many tips I hadn’t even considered before!

#5 We’re featuring the weddings of our friends! Each couple that we feature is special to us and we want to do right by them and you, our readers, by featuring the best professionals and most inspiring wedding stories and details so when those in the industry get married, and we are chosen to feature their weddings, we get an extra little thrill. We featured Lauren and Veronica’s weddings in our Summer Fall 2015 issue and we’re bursting with joy for our friends and colleagues!

Julie and Nicholas’ wedding day was “definitely the best day of our lives! We were surrounded by our closest friends and family. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful, fun, and memorable day!”

Inspired by the color of the bridesmaid dresses, this elegant wedding  incorporated Fall desert tones; we really love the guys bow ties and the stylish floral arrangements throughout, not to mention a bride that radiates happiness!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding magazine_real wedding_orange_outdoor ceremony_Lasting Images Photography_Butterfly Petals (2)

Amanda Johnson, owner of Butterfly Petals, tells us about the bouquets and boutonnieres: Julie envisioned classic white bouquets with just a pop of orange to compliment her colors and bridesmaid dresses. Her very full bridal bouquet included hydrangea, dahlias, calla lilies and ranunculus. The bridesmaids carried slightly simplified versions with pops of orange ranunculus. The guys wore clean flame calla lily boutonnieres.

Butterfly Petals:{The bride} wanted a fall winery theme to compliment the season and the rich colors at Royal Palms. Julie pulled in some of the wine details through her place cards and table numbers and we brought those details in with rich colors and textural floral like deep purple artichokes. Julie’s tastes were very classic but she wasn’t opposed to bringing in cool textural elements, especially in the centerpieces. We included succulents as well as calla lilies, and rich dahlias.

Classic with a twist- love it! The short but fun program says it all…

Warm golds, reds and ivories made the reception an inviting place to spend an evening of fun and celebration

About the flowers and decor: The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and everything I had ever imagined. From the bridal bouquets to the aisle design to the center pieces, Butterfly Petals took our vision and made it a gorgeous reality… Imoni Events organized everything perfectly!

I love the menu napkin wraps- they’re in an easy to read font and ensure that every guest will see what they are about to dine on!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding magazine_real wedding_orange_outdoor ceremony_Lasting Images Photography_Butterfly Petals (12)

Favorite Moment: When dinner was over and the band started playing, everyone got up and danced. Every body was smiling and having a great time!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Phoenix wedding magazine_real wedding_orange_outdoor ceremony_Lasting Images Photography_Butterfly Petals (13)

Sweetness: The best part of the wedding was that all of our guests seemed to have a great time. Our guests were able to float between the dance floor to the patios to enjoy cigars, the open-air photo booth, and of course, the bar!

We will never forget that day and how amazing it was. It was so special because we enjoyed every single moment of being with each other and our favorite people!

Congratulations Julie and Nicholas and thank you for sharing your Real Arizona Wedding with us!
