With 18,000 square feet to let your creativity run wild, the Wassaja Ballroom accommodates weddings as large as 1,000 guests. Clearly, with a space like this, you have the opportunity to transform this grand ballroom into the wedding reception you’ve always dreamed of. La Puesta del Sol, “The Setting Sun”, is one of the most unique Southwestern style venues in Arizona. Placed atop a mesa (an elevated flat-topped bit of land) in the desert, it features incredible views of the Sonoran Desert, 4 Peaks Mountain, and Red Mountain. See what we mean about Wekopa being a Scottsdale wedding venue with mountain views?! The unique La Puesta del Sol has a rustic charm that creates the ideal atmosphere for an unforgettable wedding.

Rosa’s offers a rustic ceremony space that appeals to brides and grooms who adore the desert and want plenty of open-air seating for the party after the “I do’s”. It’s also an ideal Southwestern rehearsal dinner spot or even BBQ- themed wedding venue!

Real Arizona Wedding: Kellie and Kurt’s Golf Course Wedding
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings

Despite the threat of some serious monsoon activity (the day before the wedding the venue experienced flash-flood inducing rain and dangerous dust storms), it was fitting that Kellie and Kurt said “I Do” on a golf course- it’s where they first met and where they had their first date! The couple also included golf details into the wedding decor since Kellie grew up in a “golfing” family and it’s something they love to do in their spare time.

Best moment of the day: …walking down the aisle. It was an emotional walk. My mom walked me down the aisle in place of my dad. As much as it was sad I was also extremely happy because I was walking towards Kurt. I knew at that moment that everything was perfect. All the people in the world that love us were there and that’s all that mattered at that moment. Kurt would say the same thing.

The Honeymoon: We actually didn’t go on a honeymoon. We were in Arizona for 11 days for the week of our wedding. We moved in our new home in July and my dad died unexpectedly a week later, 3 weeks before our wedding. We felt that it was just too much and wanted to appreciate the time with our family and friends in Arizona. We are planning on taking a proper honeymoon in September to celebrate a crazy, yet wonderful year!

Vendor Love: Our pictures are unique because I feel that Sarah Hagerty caught our personalities in each one of the photos. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and in this case it truly is…We planned our entire wedding not just from out of state, but across the entire country. However, with amazing help from our vendors and the venue we were able to keep our vision of a simple and elegant wedding intact.

Thank you for sharing your day with us and congratulations!

Real Arizona Wedding: Danielle and Craig
categories: cakes and sweets, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

Danielle and Craig, who met in California but headed to Arizona for their wedding weekend, planned a classically romantic desert wedding at Superstition Mountain Golf Resort. Soft champagne and warm neutrals were paired with subtle pink and navy to make the day a beautiful celebration of love.

I couldn’t help but be intrigued by these images of Craig; Danielle tells us: Craig had wanted the new iPad, but he wanted to wait on purchasing one with all of the wedding expenses. I knew that this would be a great gift but needed to find a way to romanticize it. I waited until the day of the wedding to write a special note to him using one of the apps. My words were along the lines of letting him know he’s my best friend and how much I adore our love story and couldn’t wait to begin a new chapter as husband and wife.

Favorite Moment: The first look allowed Craig and I an opportunity to be alone and to share our thoughts and words of excitement. It was such a special moment that just seemed to stop time as everything around us afterward happened so quickly, and before we knew it- it was all over.

Danielle’s dad made this arch for the ceremony- so sweet!

The property is so versatile- I  love how this image shows barely a trace of the desert but the next one shows the grandeur of the surrounding landscape; Danielle’s family stayed on-site at the Ranch House where they were able to spend time together the whole weekend; the couple even had their rehearsal dinner at the Ranch House the night before.

The decor was a blend of romantic country and desert chic; the lush boxed flower arrangements softened the room and added subtle hits of color; the BBQ dinner menu included tri-tip, ribs, chicken, corn, beans, coleslaw, & green chile cornbread (yum).

Favorite Thing: How well we work together. Our communication has always been right on par which makes for a very easy relationship.

Slightly obsessed with this all white cake- the texture and design are just so gorgeous!
