It was all about the love at Elizabeth and Chris’ romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding! The beautiful couple kept their appreciation for each other and their families at the center of their planning and their wedding day ended up being a gorgeous event that was full of love and happiness—just how we like it!

Elizabeth recalls: I wanted to pick a color pallet that complimented the venue and added some glamour to the day! Navy is a timeless wedding color and gold was the perfect pop of glam to accompany it. The idea of the burgundy accents in the floral arrangements came from Kevin Reed at Your Event Florist, it was the perfect additional for a fall wedding. I was very much about putting our stamp on the day, so I was so happy Your Event Florist found another way to do that. It really made the arrangements one-of-a-kind and the burgundy dahlias were simply stunning.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | Favorite Moment: We both agree that our favorite moment of the day was our first look. I was reluctant to do one at first, wanting to uphold tradition but our photographer, Jenn convinced me otherwise and she was SO right! When Chris finally turned around and we locked eyes, it was like the rest of the world faded away. Any nerves we had disappeared and everything just felt perfect.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Dress: My dress was an A-line gown made by Pronovias, purchased from Schaffer’s. I brought my mom, sister and best friend along to go dress shopping with me. My mom was actually the one who picked out the gown I ended up wearing, I wasn’t sure about it at first because it wasn’t white. As soon as I put it on, I fell in love. I was in awe of all the detail of the Swarovski crystals and the pinkish color of the tulle overlay. It wowed everyone in the room. But I’m a cautious person, so I decided to keep looking. We went to another bridal store, where I tried on more dresses, including a mermaid gown that my mom and sister fell in love with. There was a lot of pressure from them to pick it but the other was still in the back of my mind. I realized that the Pronovias dress was the one and went back to purchase it that night just as they were closing!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Flowers: Floral was one of the most important aspects of our big day. Kevin Reed, Your Event Florist owner, was remarkable in taking our vision and turning it into a reality. They custom designed my bouquet with Polo Roses, Lisianthus, Ranunculus, and Dahlias then finished it with Bay Leaves, it was perfection.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Ceremony: Elizabeth and Chris wed in an unplugged ceremony under a lushly decorated wrought iron arch; eucalyptus garland lined the aisle and wine barrels placed at the beginning of the aisle were topped with overflowing floral arrangements. Elizabeth said the ceremony decor took her breath away!

The biggest surprise of the day came from our 2 year old flower girl, Peyton! After she walked down the aisle with our ring bearer, she went to sit with her parents and decided that it was time to take off her dress. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a naked Peyton, happy as can be, at the beginning of our ceremony. It was so hard not to laugh!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Reception: Chris and Elizabeth stole away for photos while guests proceeded into the reception; the evening was filled with thoughtful touches from a “Generations of Love” display to a heartfelt donation in lieu of favors.

Chris is a HUGE car buff and works for Barrett Jackson but since he was little, his passion has always been classic cars. For the escort card table, we had a valet board where each of our guests received a vintage car key with their car for the night. The tables were named after his favorite classic cars with a license plate.

Family is very important to us and we wanted to honor them with a Generations of Love tribute. We compiled wedding day photographs from our parents and grandparents to display. It warmed many hearts and brought happy tears to both of our families.

We love it when couples incorporate the things that are important to them and Elizabeth and Chris did just that—one example is this table that celebrates their relationship along with their passion for two dog rescues in Arizona: Paw it Forward Husky Rescue and AZ Happy Tails.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Sugar: Elizabeth and Chris opted for a decadent dessert table that included cake, chocolates, mini pastries and watermelon.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding : Before our sparkler exit, Chris & I wanted a final dance, a moment to take it all in before the night ended. While everyone lined up outside and prepared for the big moment, we stayed back. “The Only One” by Charles Kelly began to play, and we danced alone in a giant empty room, utterly elated and in love. It was one of my favorite moments from the night.

One thing I would change would be to have hired a videographer for the day! I will cherish our photographers forever, but the chance to hear Chris’ vows again or getting to see my mom walk down the aisle, would have been well worth the investment.

Everyone told us it would be the best day of our lives and it was. To have so many people there, surrounding us with love was simply wonderful.

Elizabeth and Chris, congratulations and thank you for sharing your romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding with us!

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding
categories: floral inspiration, photography, real weddings, Wedding Inspiration

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie and Marc exude an easy-going, super in love, thrilled to be married kind of vibe and we love how they planned their wedding with a low key and reverent attitude. Their wedding day was a modern fun wedding that you’re sure to enjoy!

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie gave Marc Green Lantern cuff links on a trip to Carlsbad Caverns (Marc almost proposed there but Katie’s glad he choose to pop the questions above ground!) since they are his favorite superhero and he wore them proudly on his wedding day!

modern fun wedding _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Arizona wedding

Katie recalls: We relied heavily on the help of our family, friends, and church to pull off our “a la carte” wedding. The end result was a day that was not only stress free, but also incredibly fun and joyful. The design we were going for was simple, clean, and modern, and one of our priorities was making sure our guests truly enjoyed themselves.

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Ceremony: The couple wed outdoors on a gorgeous February afternoon in Tempe— the sun was shining, and love was in the air. The geometric shapes the couple chose for their decor add a chic modern touch!

Katie’s favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing Marc beaming with joy.

A Modern Fun Wedding Color Palette: we chose bold colors (navy, tangerine, and gray) and geometric shapes. [Katie’s dad] built a custom geometric backdrop, which he partially assembled in the Northwest. He brought it down to Arizona in pieces and then had to finish assembling it on the day of the wedding.

Husband and wife!

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Reception: Guests dined outside where the stage was set for an evening of celebration.

The menu was simple. We, as well as so many others in our lives, have severe food sensitivities, and Chipotle’s menu is very accommodating to those with allergies. Chipotle also happens to be where we ate just before Marc proposed to [me].

The bold blue linens and orange blooms were a lovely complement to the rose gold geometric decor items and greenery used throughout; Katie’s dad’s wooden geometric design made for a fabulous head-table backdrop.

Photographer Tracy Battaglia of Fully Alive Photography stole the couple away for some desert photos and the scenery didn’t disappoint!

For dessert, we chose cupcakes because we’ve seen how much of a hit they are at weddings. Guests seem to love selecting their flavor, and that fit into our desire to help our guests enjoy themselves.

Aren’t these cupcakes yummy looking? The Starbucks is a nod to where the couple met—see their engagement session and love story here!

Katie & Marc’s Modern Fun Wedding Reception: One particularly romantic moment occurred during the first dance. Katie tells us: In the weeks leading up to the wedding, I had been feeling anxious and insecure about our first dance. I had even taken some ballroom dance lessons just to feel more comfortable on the dance floor. Little did I know the surprise Marc had for me. When it was time for our first dance, he sat me down on a chair, took several steps back, and danced for me. It was tender, sweet, and romantic, and stole everyone’s hearts. (It turns out he was also taking lessons from the same studio as I was and all the studio staff were in on it, too!)

Then, with Katie’s nerves calmed, the party started…and boy did this group have fun (glow sticks and necklaces made the party extra festive!)

We felt so blessed by our family and friends, and we continue to feel blessed in our new marriage. We’re certainly not the youngest newlyweds on the block but this is the first time for both of us and we’re so grateful that God kept our hearts for each other.

Kristina and Chad’s Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

elegant outdoor wedding with a view _Phoenix bride and groom_Sanctuary on Camelback_Jeff and Amber Photography

With their work schedules being busy at almost exactly opposite times of the year (Kristina is a teacher and Chad is a MLB pitcher), this lovely couple hired wedding planner Cara Morrison of A Day to Cherish Weddings to plan their elegant outdoor wedding with a view. The view was courtesy of the extraordinary Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa- Kristina and Chad knew as soon as they saw the gorgeous ceremony space, hip cocktail hour patio, and intimate ballroom that this was the place to exchange vows.

The couple used their vision of a wedding with rustic elegance to guide their wedding design choices; blush and ivory floral pieces added an element of romance while wooden accent pieces provided an outdoorsy feel.

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: For the outdoor ceremony, Kristina and Chad had their florist contruct a simple wooden arch and decorate it with flowing swags of white and blush flowers paired with greenery. Wooden stumps flanked either side of the arch and also served as bases for rustic candle lanterns that lined the rose petals dusted aisle.

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: Chad and I spent considerable time writing our vows to each other. It was worth every second and something I will always remember!

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: Kristina and Chad took full advantage of Sanctuary’s breathtaking desert landscape!

Elegant Outdoor Wedding with a View: The reception was in the ballroom which boasts floor to ceiling windows- the effect is a stunning view of the mountains, Paradise Valley, and the city lights as the sun sets.

Our florist matched the blush rose tones of the linens and bridesmaid’s dresses with vases of staggered sizes, each with their own flower variety including ivory hydrangea, blush quicksand roses, Sahara roses and ivory majolica sweetheart roses. Gold pillar candleholders and votives accented the floral arrangements. The candles tied in perfectly with the gold-rimmed chargers and printed accents of the menus and favors on each plate.

Guests enjoyed a meal of Achiote Marinated Sea Bass , Grilled Corn and Chorizo Risotto, with Smoked Paprika and Lobster Butter Or Bacon-Wrapped Beef Tenderloin, Pancetta and Exotic Mushroom, Truffled Potato Cake with Cabernet Reduction Sauce- yum!

The sweetheart table was a pretty little setting for the couple to dine together for the first time as husband and wife and have the best view of their friends and family throughout the evening; the wooden decor elements were expertly incorporated into the otherwise elegantly decorated dining room.

Kristina recalls: Chad grew up in Texas and I am from Michigan. I had never heard of the southern tradition of a “groom’s cake” until Chad’s mother clued me into it. In the south, the groom gets his own wedding cake! For Chad I chose a chocolate Texas Tech cake decorated with strawberries.

Kellie & Jamie’s Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona
categories: floral inspiration, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Brittany LeSueur Photography

How would we describe Kellie and Jamie’s intimate backyard wedding in Arizona? Simple! It was a day of pure joy and easy love. Sounds pretty great, right?!  These two, who knew after 6 months of dating that they would be together forever, just seem like the kind of people who went with the flow on their wedding day because simply being there with their family and friends was all they needed. We kinda, OK, we COMPLETELY, love that!

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona | Color Palette: The couple’s indigo, white, gold and pale pink color palette is stunning in the bride’s cousin’s backyard…enjoy the pretty!

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona | Ceremony: Family members banded together and built the wedding ceremony arbor in the backyard and Mermaid’s Flower Crown did a fabulous job of decorating the arbor with blush colored garden roses and succulents.

One of our very favorite things about Kellie and Jamie’s wedding is the reaction of their guests as they each walked down the aisle- it’s a reflection of the celebratory mood of the day and we love that no one felt too inhibited to cheer.

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona | Favorite Moment: If I had to choose just one it would have to be saying our vows and hearing all of our loved ones and family cheer for us. It was such a special moment in time for me and I will never forget it. Jamie told me that his favorite part of our wedding day was being able to have the event in such a personal location because it was my cousin’s backyard. We were so lucky to have such and intimate and beautiful place to host our special day.

Intimate Backyard Wedding in Arizona | Reception: The reception featured poolside feasting tables that included gold chargers, geometric shapes and blue accents. On our long wooden tables we used Shibori tie-dyed table runners. Gold geometric shapes were used for the candle holders as well as indigo and clear glass holders. Mermaid’s Flower Crown did a beautiful job with the roses and succulent center pieces.

Sara and Eric, who live in New York, chose to say “I Do” at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa with their family and friends by their side. Their elegant with a touch of glam wedding in Arizona showcased the beautiful weather and scenery of the desert right before the heat of the summer set in and you’ll love the couple’s decor decisions which include classic details with the perfect touch of sparkle!

Sara recalls: …it was important to us to have our friends and family around us the entire weekend. The JW Marriott was the perfect place – as most of our guests were from out of town, we wanted them to enjoy their AZ experience. There was so much to do at the hotel and the weather was gorgeous. We got to spend the entire weekend with our guests enjoying the resort and celebrating

Elegant with a Touch of Glam Wedding First Look: Sara and Eric had their first look in JW Mariott’s half-turn staircase which boasts impressive windows and a beautiful staircase. The couple definitely approved of this location for such a special moment.

Elegant with a Touch of Glam Wedding Ceremony: The couple exchanged vows at the Ballroom Lawn which boasts a beautiful view of the Sonoran Mountains. Your Event Florist created a lovely chuppah for the ceremony that included peonies, ranunculi, and roses.

Elegant with a Touch of Glam Wedding Favorite Moment: Our favorite moment was at the conclusion of the ceremony — after we danced our way back down the aisle and stole off to a small alcove just inside the doors of the hotel.  We sat down on a bench and shared two minutes just the two of us before rejoining the festivities.  We can’t remember what we said to each other and there aren’t any pictures.  All we know is that we’ll never forget that moment because it when we realized we were actually married.  It was all smiles.

elegant with a touch of glam wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_eyes-2-see-photography_-jw-marriott-desert-ridge

Elegant with a Touch of Glam Wedding Reception: Sara and Eric had a clear vision for what they wanted their wedding reception to look like. Sara tells us: When designing the wedding, we looked for opportunities where we could insert some glitz and decided that we really wanted our head table and our cake to stand out.  The backdrop for the head table was a black curtain with hanging crystals down the center and it created the look of a cascading waterfall that culminated with our sparkling table at its base.

The floral centerpieces were light and bright- they provided a nice contrast to the dark linens and black chiavari chairs- and crystals and tiny hanging votives added a shimmering glow.

…the cake, that was the true embodiment of our theme.  With one glittered layer to juxtapose the three white layers and detailed flower work—it was breathtaking.

A Fresh White and Black Wedding at SoHo63
categories: fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography

McKenna and Klayton’s fresh white and black wedding at SoHo63 is just so pretty you’re going to love it- the bride is radiant, the groom is handsome and the venue allows for the couple’s personal design wishes to shine. One of their biggest priorities was to have gorgeous flowers and the (almost) all-white arrangements are stunning!

McKenna recalls: The most important thing to us when we were planning were the flowers. We really wanted to make a statement with the floral décor. From the floating arrangements to the massive wishing tree that was filled with lush flowers around the base, it was truly a floral dream for us.

Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography

The couple included all their siblings in their bridal party- don’t they look like a fun group?! McKenna’s sister created all the flower arrangements except for the hanging floral chandeliers at the reception and we think she did an amazing job.

Fresh White and Black Wedding _phoenix-bride-and-groom_soho63_monique-hessler-photography

A Fresh White and Black Wedding Ceremony: We had a string duo during our ceremony, playing some untypical wedding music, including Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” for McKenna’s {my} processional…McKenna’s brother, Trevor, was our officiant. Our vows were touching and personalized by the bride and groom, and really captured the love that we have for each other now and for the rest of time.

Saying our vows to each other and in front of our family and friends was truly a moment that will forever be in our hearts.

SoHo63’s Tribeca Terrace is modeled after a city rooftop promenade- it provides an intimate space for ceremonies or outdoor revelry that is truly unique to Arizona

A Fresh White and Black Wedding Reception: The modern design of SoHo63’s Gramercy Ballroom was a perfect fit for McKenna and Klayton’s white wedding vision; shimmering linens, silver chiavari chairs and fresh centerpieces all came together to make this wedding gorgeous but it was the hanging floral chandeliers that really added the wow factor!

McKenna explains how she and Klayton added personal touches to their cocktail hour and reception: Our cocktail napkins had cute True or False questions about our relationship that our guests could read while enjoying cocktail hour…and instead of table numbers we added the locations we have traveled to and a quick story on each table about our trips there.

We loved our custom wine box with the lyrics from our first dance song, Ellie Goulding’s “How Long Will I Love You” engraved on the top. We put our favorite wine from our first trip together in it, locked it up with love letters from each other, and will open it up on our first anniversary. We will repeat this on each anniversary.

This sweetheart table is so dreamy! We love the shimmer, the fancy chairs, and the chandelier placed perfectly overhead!

The Venue: We really wanted a clean, classic, timeless look. We both agreed that when we look back on our photos for years to come to have a classic white wedding. We loved the way it looked with the venue of SoHo as it is such a clean, modern space. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the white and black wedding. It was truly everything we dreamed of.

Advice for couples: The only thing we would have changed was not to rush everything, and truly slow down and enjoy the moments leading up to ceremony.

McKenna and Klayton, thank you for sharing your fresh white and black wedding with us and congratulations!
