Wedding Trend: Tall Vases with Floating Floral Centerpieces
categories: floral inspiration, reception ideas, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Centerpiece design offers a wide range of possibilities- sometimes couples choose low arrangements with the idea that they want their guests to be able to converse easily during dinner. Low profile centerpieces are especially appropriate for brunch weddings and can be a lovely way to decorate feasting tables as well; however, some couples choose tall designs because they want the overall effect of their floral arrangements to be more dramatic or fill a room that has tall ceilings. While both are beautiful, tall vases with floating floral centerpieces are a trend that we keep seeing in wedding floral design. Here are some examples from our Elite Circle florists:

(Florist: Your Event Florist, Photographer: Eyes 2 See, Location: JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa)

More and more couples are choosing tall vases with floating floral centerpieces that feature very full arrangements at the top of the vase. We love this approach because it allows guests to still see everyone at the table while creating a nice airy feeling to the overall wedding decor; clear vases with floating flowers make a stylish statement that guests are sure to remember!

Proportionately speaking, tall clear vases fill a ballroom with high ceilings very well and have a more formal vibe; floating elements add a touch of unexpected detail (and sometimes a pop of color)!

Garland for Weddings | Wedding Trend
categories: floral inspiration, reception ideas, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

When you hear the word garland you may automatically think of holiday decor but garland has been making it’s way into the wedding world for a few months now and we’re delighted to see how our Elite Circle florists are using garland for weddings.

Garland for Weddings: This design from Butterfly Petals, using lemon-leaf greenery, lavender roses and purple carnations, caught our eye because this particular staircase is very dramatic and often brides descend it on their way to the ceremony or couples use if for their reception grand entrance- the garland is a beautiful and colorful touch!

Garland for Weddings: The long, draped style of using greenery and some floral elements allows florists to cover the center of a long feasting, or “King’s” table, banisters and even sweetheart table chairs.

Garland for Weddings: This centerpiece is uniquely designed- it utilizes eucaltypus greenery, airplants, succulents, purple stock and purple carnations to create a light and airy floral feature.

Garland for Weddings: The whole look of this escort card table is incredibly beautiful and lush- we really love how the twisted garland frames the overall design and softens the metal supports.

categories: floral inspiration, for your ceremony, reception ideas, Tips and Advice, Trends, Wedding Inspiration, what's hot in rentals

When you sit down to plan your wedding, you may not immediately think about how you plan to decorate your chairs and we totally get that. The photographer, location, guest list, budget, etc. all come first but when you’re ready to have a little fun and fine tune the details for your day, the topic f which chairs to have and what to do with them will come up (unless you plan to have your guests stand the entire day)! Today we’re sharing 17 ideas for decorating chairs at weddings that may provide a little inspiration- enjoy!

Ideas for Decorating Chairs at Weddings: Flowers are a classic way to spruce up a chair here and there. You can have your florist create something for all of your chairs or you can choose just a few to adorn. The addition of signs to the back of the newlywed’s chairs is always fun too!

Escort Card Display Ideas | Wedding Inspiration
categories: floral inspiration, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

There should only be two scenarios where NOT having a seating plan for your wedding reception is a good option: 1. You have a very small guest count and you are all seated at one table or 2. Your reception is a non-traditional, non-plated dinner where guests won’t need to have seats to enjoy themselves. Other than these two scenarios, you will definitely want to tell your guests where to sit. Don’t worry, even if that feels bossy to you, your guests will appreciate it. So now that we know you’re probably going to have a seating chart, we would love to share some escort card display ideas!

Escort Card Display Ideas: A poster on an easel with the names listed alphabetically is a more traditional way to tell your guests how to find their spot. We really like the sweet watercolor cacti at the bottom- it adds a pop of color and ties into the couple’s other reception decor.

(Photographer: Eyes2See, Stationer: Celebrations in Paper, Planner: A Day to Cherish, Location: Phoenix Art Museum)

Escort Card Display Ideas: A really fun way to display seating cards is to hang them on something. That something can be a wall, a frame, string, wreaths, ribbons, whatever! We just love the creativity.

Escort Card Display Ideas: This is quite possibly the sweetest way to display escort cards that we’ve seen! Event planner Victoria Canada placed the square escort cards on acrylic that was set atop perfectly lined-up Hershey kisses. Imagine the patience it took to set this up?

(Stationer: Celebrations in Paper, Planner: Victoria Canada Weddings + Events, Photographer: Jennifer Bowen Photography)

Escort Card Display Ideas: Another traditional way to display escort cards is on a table but don’t mistake “traditional” for boring. With the additional elements of flowers, colorful linens, earthy components such as moss and textured escort card designs, these displays are eye-catching and memorable!

Escort Card Display Ideas: No matter what your wedding theme is, candles are probably going to fit in somehow so why not use them to warm up your escort card table? We especially like how the escort cards are placed in wine corks.

Remember, whatever way to decide to display your escort cards, make sure guests can find their names. That means placing them alphabetically, within arms reach, and secure enough that they won’t fall off whatever you are affixing them to. Katie and Vincent’s Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix
categories: real weddings, reception ideas, Wedding Inspiration

Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Victoria Canada Weddings and Events

Katie and Vincent are true originals- their wedding was a perfectly non traditional wedding in Phoenix and we love their story so much that we had to share it with you along with their post-I Do photo shoot at the luscious Desert Botanical Garden and their lovely reception a few months later.

Katie explains why they decided to forgo having a traditional wedding and do things their way:  I never pictured myself as a traditional bride. I didn’t meet Vince (I call him Mr. Handsome!) in a traditional way, and was so happy to finally meet the love of my life that I just wanted to be married!

Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix_Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Victoria Canada Weddings and Events (2)

How did you meet and what is you favorite thing about each other?

I was waiting for a date who was late! My date had let me know that he was going to be an hour late, and I was so close to cancelling, but decided to wait at the restaurant bar. While waiting for my glass of wine, in walked Vince with his copilot, and it was love at first sight! We struck up a conversation (I learned he was a pilot and was on a trip and heading back to Phoenix) which intrigued me, as I’m terrified of flying! We exchanged numbers, but I never expected to hear from him, as Arizona is like another county when you’re living in Michigan! A week after we met, he called, and I was so excited! We continued to talk/date long distance before I decided to move to AZ, and the rest is history! So glad I didn’t cancel my date!!

A Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix: We opted for a fancy dinner party, with the theme, “Eat, Drink, and be Married! I love anything with sparkle, so we chose jewel colors for the flowers against a sparkly navy backdrop. It was the best to celebrate love with family and friends! It was a bit unconventional (getting married first) but I wouldn’t have changed a thing! Once the reception came, it gave us more time to visit with family and friends!

Seriously, how gorgeous is Katie’s dress??? And of course, Vince brought his style game too!

While planning your dinner reception, what was most important to you? I really wanted the reception to be all about eating, drinking, and being merry! I wanted the feel of a fancy dinner party, where people can mingle and the families could really get to know each other and I wanted the venue to stand out as simple but beautiful, which thanks to Victoria and her team, really came through!

Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix (Favorite Moment): My favorite memory is simple-seeing everyone (only very close friends and family) enjoying the day! So much planning went into that day that it was great to see it all come together (it was so beautiful) and to see all the guests enjoying all the details made all the stress worth it!

Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Victoria Canada Weddings and Events (10)Non Traditional Wedding in Phoenix _Phoenix Bride and Groom_Fully Alive Photography_Victoria Canada Weddings and Events

How did you choose your wedding planner and photographer? The very first date that Vince took me on when I first arrived in Phoenix was to the Royal Palms. I loved it the moment we walked around the resort and the resort highly recommended Victoria. Once I reached out to Victoria, what struck me was how much she listened to what I was looking for in a reception! She instantly seemed to understand me! She also recommended Tracy. Tracy is such a gem! Her photos are amazing-she really is able to capture moments, and puts you at such ease that you don’t even hear the camera clinking away! She has such a fun personality that shines through!

One thing we really love about non traditional weddings is that guests feel unrestricted in how they celebrate the day- maybe there’s not a dance floor but guests who want to dance don’t feel like they’re breaking any rules by creating their own dance floor!
