Wedding Fashion Event in Scottsdale | Omni Montelucia’s Dream Event
categories: bridal fashions, fabulous reception sites, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Omni Montelucia’s Dream Event was everything it promised to be—the exclusive wedding fashion event in Scottsdale was plentiful in style, champagne, time with Randy Fenoli, and exquisite wedding gowns. The evening began with a VIP event with Randy where attendees previewed his brand new line of wedding gowns and toasted to the evening with Veuve Clicquot champagne (yum!)

Engaged couples mingled with all types of wedding professionals—there were wedding planners, florists, photographers, stylists, etc. and the excitement of the evening was contagious!

Randy Fenoli—Master of Ceremonies (and master of happiness, enthusiasm, and all things bridal fashion)—kicked off the fashion show in style as only he can. He shared his excitement for the dresses we were about to see and reminded us all that “it’s not just about the dress, it’s about how you WEAR the dress.” We adore him…

As promised, Omni Montelucia’s wedding fashion event in Scottsdale was an impressive show where stunning wedding gowns introduced the latest trends in wedding fashion; we also got to view several bridesmaid dresses and were treated to the cutest flower girl too!

The dress on the left received the most oohs and aahs of the evening—the sheer elements and floral detailing made an impression on every single person in the room!

Elite Circle Bridal Shop in Arizona | Laurie’s Bridal and Formal
categories: bridal fashions, Meet Our Friends, Tips and Advice, Wedding Inspiration

You know those people who are considered “whisperers”? They’re the experts who seem to be born to know exactly how to do their job and they do it well every time. Well, Laurie Dickman, owner of Elite Circle bridal shop Laurie’s Bridal and Formal, is a wedding gown whisperer. From the moment you meet Laurie, you feel how passionate she is about wedding gowns and you also sense that you can completely trust her expertise. You’ll trust her to find the gown that will make you feel and look beautiful on your wedding day and you’ll trust her when she pulls a gown to try on that you never would have considered. Laurie will make your wedding gown dreams come true and we want you to know a bit more about her and her beautiful bridal shop in Arizona!

(Photographer: Saaty Photography, Planner & Florist: Simply Beautiful Wedding Event Planning)

What will brides looking for their wedding gowns find at Laurie’s that they won’t find at any other bridal shop in Arizona? They will find a selection of gowns not offered elsewhere or offered with limited distribution.  Brides always tell me that they don’t necessarily want to see the same gowns all over town.

What are your top 3 tips for brides trying on gowns for the first time?

1. Do not come all decked out. Come dressed comfortably and you do not need to come all made up with make up. Be comfortable. You’re going to be getting in and out of dresses.

2. Bring 1-2 (or sometimes 3) trusted people whose opinions you trust and respect.  Sometimes the entourage is a bit overwhelming and can backfire.

3. Bring pictures.  But also, please be realistic—the pictures you see are professional models. Don’t compare yourself or be too hard on yourself if a dress you love doesn’t look the same on you as it does on a professional model.

Can brides customize their gowns at Laurie’s? We do carry one manufacturer, exclusively available in Scottsdale, who offers full customizable gowns.  We also refer out to local and reliable seamstresses who can do amazing modifications to your gown.
What are you seeing brides gravitating towards as far as bridal fashions that you’re loving right now?  Brides are more conscious about what they want to look like and how comfortable they want to be, rather than going for a particular style of gown. We do sell a little bit of everything so I’m confident that a bride coming into the shop will find her perfect wedding gown.

What is your advice to brides who are concerned about being “too trendy” when choosing their gown? My advice is pure and simple and I’ve said it to almost every bride who’s been in my store: You don’t want to look back at your wedding day pictures 20 years from now and think what was I thinking?  Stay true to who you are.  I even heeded my own advice. I just celebrated my 22nd anniversary and posted my wedding picture.  I STILL love my handmade gown and I would wear it all over again!

What do you want brides to know before coming in to try on gowns at your bridal shop in Arizona? Please keep an open mind, be patient and trust that I know what I’m doing. For me, it’s not always about closing the sale, but making that perfect match between bride and gown.

What else should we know about this very special bridal shop in Arizona? I treat every bride as if she were my friend, daughter or family member.  I really enjoy what I do and want every bride to just have a fun time shopping for her gown.  It shouldn’t be overwhelming or stressful, but the most enjoyable part of this special day.

One more thing…When brides book appointments, we staff accordingly and set time aside especially for them so it’s unfortunate when they can’t make their appointment and don’t notify us. We see a “no-show” as a missed opportunity for another bride who could have found her dress and while we certainly understand that sometimes brides can’t make their appointment, we just ask that they contact the store and let us know so we can re-schedule their appointment and open up that time slot for another bride!

About Laurie: Originally from New York, Laurie’s flair for fashion began in her teenage years, when she started working part time at a high end clothing and dress boutique in her local mall. In the very early 1990’s, she started working for a leading bridal dress and headpiece manufacturer. Laurie worked her way up and was soon traveling all over the United States as a Trunk Show Coordinator, training store owners and their employees how to properly sell wedding gowns, to educate their customers and to help listen to what the consumer wanted and bring that back to the company. She also helped design bridal headpieces.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding

romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding _ Phoenix Bride and Groom wedding magazine_Jenn Wagner Studio_Arizona Wedding

It was all about the love at Elizabeth and Chris’ romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding! The beautiful couple kept their appreciation for each other and their families at the center of their planning and their wedding day ended up being a gorgeous event that was full of love and happiness—just how we like it!

Elizabeth recalls: I wanted to pick a color pallet that complimented the venue and added some glamour to the day! Navy is a timeless wedding color and gold was the perfect pop of glam to accompany it. The idea of the burgundy accents in the floral arrangements came from Kevin Reed at Your Event Florist, it was the perfect additional for a fall wedding. I was very much about putting our stamp on the day, so I was so happy Your Event Florist found another way to do that. It really made the arrangements one-of-a-kind and the burgundy dahlias were simply stunning.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | Favorite Moment: We both agree that our favorite moment of the day was our first look. I was reluctant to do one at first, wanting to uphold tradition but our photographer, Jenn convinced me otherwise and she was SO right! When Chris finally turned around and we locked eyes, it was like the rest of the world faded away. Any nerves we had disappeared and everything just felt perfect.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Dress: My dress was an A-line gown made by Pronovias, purchased from Schaffer’s. I brought my mom, sister and best friend along to go dress shopping with me. My mom was actually the one who picked out the gown I ended up wearing, I wasn’t sure about it at first because it wasn’t white. As soon as I put it on, I fell in love. I was in awe of all the detail of the Swarovski crystals and the pinkish color of the tulle overlay. It wowed everyone in the room. But I’m a cautious person, so I decided to keep looking. We went to another bridal store, where I tried on more dresses, including a mermaid gown that my mom and sister fell in love with. There was a lot of pressure from them to pick it but the other was still in the back of my mind. I realized that the Pronovias dress was the one and went back to purchase it that night just as they were closing!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Flowers: Floral was one of the most important aspects of our big day. Kevin Reed, Your Event Florist owner, was remarkable in taking our vision and turning it into a reality. They custom designed my bouquet with Polo Roses, Lisianthus, Ranunculus, and Dahlias then finished it with Bay Leaves, it was perfection.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Ceremony: Elizabeth and Chris wed in an unplugged ceremony under a lushly decorated wrought iron arch; eucalyptus garland lined the aisle and wine barrels placed at the beginning of the aisle were topped with overflowing floral arrangements. Elizabeth said the ceremony decor took her breath away!

The biggest surprise of the day came from our 2 year old flower girl, Peyton! After she walked down the aisle with our ring bearer, she went to sit with her parents and decided that it was time to take off her dress. I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a naked Peyton, happy as can be, at the beginning of our ceremony. It was so hard not to laugh!

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Reception: Chris and Elizabeth stole away for photos while guests proceeded into the reception; the evening was filled with thoughtful touches from a “Generations of Love” display to a heartfelt donation in lieu of favors.

romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding _ Phoenix Bride and Groom wedding magazine_Jenn Wagner Studio_Arizona Wedding

Chris is a HUGE car buff and works for Barrett Jackson but since he was little, his passion has always been classic cars. For the escort card table, we had a valet board where each of our guests received a vintage car key with their car for the night. The tables were named after his favorite classic cars with a license plate.

romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding _ Phoenix Bride and Groom wedding magazine_Jenn Wagner Studio_Arizona Wedding

Family is very important to us and we wanted to honor them with a Generations of Love tribute. We compiled wedding day photographs from our parents and grandparents to display. It warmed many hearts and brought happy tears to both of our families.

We love it when couples incorporate the things that are important to them and Elizabeth and Chris did just that—one example is this table that celebrates their relationship along with their passion for two dog rescues in Arizona: Paw it Forward Husky Rescue and AZ Happy Tails.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding | The Sugar: Elizabeth and Chris opted for a decadent dessert table that included cake, chocolates, mini pastries and watermelon.

Romantic Blue, Gold and Ivory Wedding : Before our sparkler exit, Chris & I wanted a final dance, a moment to take it all in before the night ended. While everyone lined up outside and prepared for the big moment, we stayed back. “The Only One” by Charles Kelly began to play, and we danced alone in a giant empty room, utterly elated and in love. It was one of my favorite moments from the night.

One thing I would change would be to have hired a videographer for the day! I will cherish our photographers forever, but the chance to hear Chris’ vows again or getting to see my mom walk down the aisle, would have been well worth the investment.

Everyone told us it would be the best day of our lives and it was. To have so many people there, surrounding us with love was simply wonderful.

Elizabeth and Chris, congratulations and thank you for sharing your romantic blue, gold and ivory wedding with us!

Wedding Dresses by Body Type | Schaffer’s Bridal
categories: bridal fashions, Tips and Advice, Wedding Inspiration

Elite Circle bridal shop Schaffer’s Bridal wrote a blog about how to shop for wedding dresses by body type and we are thrilled to share this valuable information with you!

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: Schaffer’s says for women with hourglass figures, form fitting dresses help enhance their curves best. Mermaid and fit-and-flare styles easily come to mind, but don’t forget about wedding dresses that have exaggerated features like a low drop waist or low backs.

Wedding Dresses by Body Type _Schaffers Bridal_Phoenix Bride and Groom

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: If you’re a woman with a petite body type you will want to look for types of wedding dresses that create the illusion of a long torso, and elongate your legs. Keep it simple, any detailing should be small and limited to the bodice.

Wedding Dresses by Body Type _Schaffers Bridal_Phoenix Bride and Groom

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: When it comes to tall and thin body types, keep in mind one word: simple. The more simplistic the dress, the less your body is lost in the dress.

Wedding Dresses by Body Type _Schaffers Bridal_Phoenix Bride and Groom

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: For apple shaped women you want to find a wedding dress that will draw attention upwards and skirts that flow out in an A-line fashion to evenly portray you proportions in the most flattering way.

Wedding Dresses by Body Type _Schaffers Bridal_Phoenix Bride and Groom

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: When it comes to a pear shaped body type, you want to look for dresses that highlight the narrowness of your mid-section with either while flowing down in an A formation or fit-and-flare silhouette.

Wedding Dresses by Body Type _Schaffers Bridal_Phoenix Bride and Groom

Wedding Dresses by Body Type: It’s up to you whether you want to show off your figure or seek more coverage. You can either create curves with a dropped waist or mermaid style, or you can find more coverage in an A-line or empire dress.

Rachel and Ross’s modern classic wedding was featured in our Winter Spring issue but we had to share even more pics form their wedding day- this couple is just so sweet together and the moments captured by Elite Circle photographer Katrina Wallace Photographers are just so beautiful. Their sweet pup Chloe got so much love and attention during the wedding that we sort of fell in love with her!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Modern classic wedding_Katrina Wallace Photographers_Arizona Wedding (2)

Rachel tried on more than 100 wedding gowns before she found this beauty! It’s a convertible lace and tulle dress that fit this modern classic bride perfectly; the moment she showed it to Ross for the first time has become her favorite moment of the day!

A Modern Classic Wedding Ceremony: The couple chose Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa to get married because it’s a location that holds sentimental value for them- many dates and Ross’s proposal occurred here; we love the bond between Rachel and her father

Wedding Colors: Pink and Blue from our Summer Fall Cover Shoot
categories: bridal fashions, fabulous reception sites, floral inspiration, for your ceremony, Grooms, health and beauty, Meet Our Friends, photography, Trends, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

Somehow, we always manage to be just one step ahead of the wedding trends- particularly when it comes to wedding colors – and while you may not have noticed it, our Summer Fall 2015 cover was way ahead of the trends (certainly you’re aware that the 2016 “Color(s) of the Year” have recently been declared as pink and blue, right?)!

We begin with the incomparable “Papillon” gown by Ian Stuart. The soft pink and blue petal decorations make it completely unique and the jacket and veil take it to a whole other level. You don’t have to choose blue and pink for your wedding colors to wear this gown from Mariee Bridal- it could be just enough all on it’s own!

Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_wedding colors_pink and blue_Katrina Wallace Photography_Four Seasons Scottsdale (1) Phoenix Bride and Groom_Arizona Wedding_wedding colors_pink and blue_Katrina Wallace Photography_Four Seasons Scottsdale (2)

Speaking of wedding colors, how handsome is this guy in his blue Ted Baker suit and pink shirt?

This cover shoot was our 15th Anniversary issue so of course we had to get some champagne flowing!

And here’s the cover! If you’re inspired to choose pink and blue as your wedding colors for your wedding in 2016, you’re welcome for the inspiration! It will be fun to see how what our magic crystal ball tells us for 2016’s wedding colors…
