Wedding Trends: 2016 Wedding Gowns at Bella Lily Bridal
categories: bridal fashions, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Last week was New York International Bridal Market (otherwise known as NY Bridal Fashion Week) and we kept an eye on the runways via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We quickly gathered some thoughts on what next year’s brides would be wearing and while we noticed 3 things immediately- lots of skin, floral details, and architecture inspired shapes, we wanted to ask the experts what their impressions of 2016’s wedding gowns were too.

To weigh in on the wedding gown trends for 2016, we asked Bella Lily Bridal owner Brenda Maldonado to share her predictions.

Top Trends for Spring 2016 Wedding Gowns:

Tiered Skirts: Tiered skirts were seen on the runway from several designers. From Hayley Paige to Enaura and Carolina Herrera…tiered skirts continue to be a trend that is on-point. Whether its softly flowing organza or layers and layers of tulle, tiers add texture to a dress as well as giving it a touch of playfulness. These cascading layers will have a floaty effect as a bride walks down the aisle.

(Wtoo, Spring 2016)

Wedding Gowns with Floral Details: Florals were in full bloom on the runway and definitely a Spring 2016 trend. From Monique Lhuillier to Maggie Sottero, intricate floral embroidery and beautiful floral prints make these gowns look like they were created in a lush garden.

(Maggie Sottero, Spring 2016)

Sleeves: Touches of tradition are making their way into bridal fashion by way of sleeves. Sleeves in all lengths were prevalent on the runway. This trend got a modern twist with the use of naked-looking illusion sleeves which allows for a semi-covered look while accents like classic lace, sequins, intricate beading and embroidery added a touch of visual interest.

Wedding Gowns with a Statement Back: No longer an afterthought, the back of the dress is just as important as the front. Designers creating dramatic backs allow a bride to wow her guest both coming and going!!

Wedding Trends: Wedding Gowns for 2015 from Schaffer’s Bridal
categories: bridal fashions, Trends

Kind of like wedding and event flower trends this year, wedding gown styles are going to be all over the board (which is great news for those of you who want to do something a little different), so we asked Schaffer’s Bridal, our go-to bridal shop here in Arizona, to narrow down some of their favorites for us.

Trend #1: Tulle skirts/full skirts. Skirts are getting lots of love this year with fullness from tulle and tiered layers

Trend #2: Collars or high necklines. This look adds an almost royal touch to a bride’s wedding day ensemble.

Trend #3: Sheer bodices and overlays. For a chic, overlays provide coverage without being too conservative.

We’ve noticed quite a few brides wearing a cape or capelet for their ceremony then removing it for the reception- it’s a twist on the 2 (reception) gown idea and possibly satisfies church attire guidelines.

Wedding Trends: Top Bridal Gown Trends for 2014/2015
categories: bridal fashions, Trends

Sometimes we get in the mood to simply look at pretty things. Today is one of those days so we’re focusing on the prettiest of all things: the bride. More specifically, the bridal gown. Whether it’s sparkle, drama, or class you’re after, there’s something for every bride’s style.

To keep you in the loop when you go shopping for your bridal gown, check out the top trends in wedding gowns for the 2014/2015 wedding season from Elite Circle bridal shop Schaffer’s Bridal:

1. Exquisite beading. Eddy K, an Italian Designer, offers the most spectacular beading we’ve seen!

2. Simplicity is still chic though. For example, Paloma Blanca’s #4465 is stunning.

3. Lots of lace! Classic, sometimes old Hollywood styles are definitely staying in the forefront of the trends.

4. Veils. Brides are really liking more bling on their veils and cathedral length at that!

5. Belts, belts and more belts! They add a special something to any style!

Top 5 Wedding Gown Trends for 2014
categories: bridal fashions, Trends

A few months ago, the wedding industry was all aflutter with the annual New York Bridal Fashion Week runway shows- top designers premiered their 2014 collections which previewed gowns that were bold, ultra-feminine, daring, and dramatic. Since there is such a vast array of gown options and choosing only a few to consider for your wedding can be overwhelming, we are sharing the top 5 trends from the 2014 collections along with some of our favorites from each trend. Prepare to gawk (in a good way)!

Trend #1: Architectural Design

These gowns are  fashion-forward and edgy. The bride who wears a gown like this is contemporary and welcomes a touch of drama! Lisa Daversa, owner of Destiny’s Bride in Scottsdale, said Rafael Cennamo’s 2014 collection was a standout!

Trend #2: Color

Weddings gowns with color hit the scene last year but they have really taken off in the 2014 collections. Some designers ONLY featured gowns with color! Brides who choose to wear a gown with color want a modern look with a touch of tradition. Typically gowns that have color are classic in their styling but have a contemporary feel thanks to the color.

Trend #3: Embellished

The term “embellished” covers a lot of ground- it can mean 3 dimensional flowers, lace lace & more lace, or even sashes and belts. If you want to make your dress “yours” without a custom gown price, these are a great option!

Trend #4 Illusion Necklines

Illusion necklines simply have a transparent panel of fabric attached to the bodice of the gown. This style adds an element of sophistication and mystery along with a touch of modesty. This style was BIG this year with the designers!

Trend #5: Short

Short wedding gowns themselves are not necessarily new to the wedding world but designers have now embraced them so fully that most 2014 collections include them; since there are so many to chose from, you can find a short gown that has sass, sophistication, sweetness or even whimsy.

OK gorgeous gals- now you know what to look for when shopping and where to go!
