Lavender wasn’t supposed to be a big color for weddings this year but this pretty purple hue is making a statement regardless! We think we know why lavender is a popular choice for couples planning their weddings: it’s purple (which is always in style for weddings) without being “too purple” and it conveys a delicate prettiness that’s appropriate for any wedding. From backyard get-togethers to grand ballrooms, lavender is lovely!

Lavender Wedding Inspiration: A color palette that includes lavender and other bright shades makes for some pretty gorgeous wedding attire. This bridal party’s attire is anything but boring thanks to the varied shades of purple!

Lavender Wedding Inspiration: Escort/place cards get a touch of lavender- they hint at what’s to come. And pretty much any stationery piece can include the light purple hue- table numbers, menus, signature cocktail signs, etc.

Wedding Trend: Tall Vases with Floating Floral Centerpieces
categories: floral inspiration, reception ideas, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

Centerpiece design offers a wide range of possibilities- sometimes couples choose low arrangements with the idea that they want their guests to be able to converse easily during dinner. Low profile centerpieces are especially appropriate for brunch weddings and can be a lovely way to decorate feasting tables as well; however, some couples choose tall designs because they want the overall effect of their floral arrangements to be more dramatic or fill a room that has tall ceilings. While both are beautiful, tall vases with floating floral centerpieces are a trend that we keep seeing in wedding floral design. Here are some examples from our Elite Circle florists:

tall vases with floating floral centerpieces _phoenix-bride-and-groom__eyes2see_your-event-florist_jw-marriott-desert-ridge

(Florist: Your Event Florist, Photographer: Eyes 2 See, Location: JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa)

More and more couples are choosing tall vases with floating floral centerpieces that feature very full arrangements at the top of the vase. We love this approach because it allows guests to still see everyone at the table while creating a nice airy feeling to the overall wedding decor; clear vases with floating flowers make a stylish statement that guests are sure to remember!

(Florist: Your Event Florist, Photographer: Eyes 2 See, Location: Arizona Biltmore)

Proportionately speaking, tall clear vases fill a ballroom with high ceilings very well and have a more formal vibe; floating elements add a touch of unexpected detail (and sometimes a pop of color)!

Every year, the Pantone Color Institute releases it’s highly anticipated “Fashion Top 10 Colors” report and this year’s report included Lilac Gray. Inevitably, Pantone’s top 10 colors make their way into wedding decor and since this color is a beautiful and distinctive neutral that subtly plays into many wedding color palettes, we’ve been seeing it a lot! The Elite Circle videographers at Something New Media mentioned recently that they now offer Instagram video clips and we had to find out exactly what couples planning their weddings have to look forward to with this nifty little feature!

Basically, Instagram video clips are 13 second clips of your wedding that Something New Media creates for you to share on any social media channel you use. Since you get the clip within 3 days of your wedding, it’s a great way to share the highlights with your online friends and family, especially those who weren’t able to attend in person.

Something New Media explains the benefits of Instagram video clips:

-We choose fun and photogenic highlights

-Instgram video clips are a cool new format that are quickly gaining popularity

-They’re a way to help build your following or show off a favorite moment or two to your social media friends

Here’s a sample Instagram video clip:

Unexpected Wedding Trends {Infographic}
categories: reception ideas, Tips and Advice, Trends, Wedding Inspiration, Wedding Resources

Sometimes our task of sharing the very best in Arizona weddings and all things wedding inspired takes some time and sometimes it’s easy peasy, like today’s post! The Dunloe (a luxury hotel near Killarney, Ireland) shared this cute infographic with us that includes unexpected weddings trends and since we happen to agree with most of them, our work is done!

Unexpected wedding trends 2016_1a

The 2-in-1 wedding gown is probably one of the top unexpected wedding trends we’ve seen; isn’t the idea of having grandmothers as flower girls just the sweetest?

Unexpected wedding trends 2016_2 Unexpected wedding trends 2016_3

We first experienced wedding cakes with image projections at a wedding expo a few months ago here in Arizona and it’s fascinating!

Wedding Hair and Makeup Advice from Babydoll Weddings
categories: Grooms, health and beauty, Tips and Advice, Trends, Wedding Inspiration

I begin today with a cautionary tale: I made the critical mistake of hiring an amateur makeup artist for my wedding who actually told me she did not “believe in covering up blemishes because it just draws attention to them”…of course I ended up looking like I did my own makeup. I was shiny the whole day and the eyeshadow colors chosen did not accentuate my eyes (my best feature) at all, and you can bet my blemishes made themselves known.

So, if you want to look and feel beautiful on your wedding day, heed my warning: do not rely on someone who moonlights as a beauty professional! Without question, you want someone who does this full-time, a team who can doll you up exactly as you need to be for a day that focuses on you, whether you want it to or not. Don’t forget, there’s a camera pointed right at you most of the day!

Meet Babydoll Weddings Hair & Makeup– a team of pros who you can trust to make you look and feel your best on your wedding, led by owner and stylist Sabrina:

Wedding Hair and Makeup Advice: What makes Babydoll Weddings Hair & Makeup different?

Teamwork, Education and Professionalism. I have built such an amazing team of people… From the first email or phone call brides make to us, we strive to respond within 24hrs and make sure they have a quote and our contract in hand. As a recent bride myself, my biggest frustration in planning was people getting back to me. Michelle is our Bridal Liaison and her sole job is to make sure communication is happening with each and every bride.

Keeping up with the latest hair and makeup trends in the wedding business is also something we pride ourselves on. We meet once a month and devote 2 hours as a team to practicing, sharing and learning current hair and makeup techniques. You’ll see us travel to California and around the valley to attend hair and makeup shows/expos to make sure we are keeping up with the industry. This ensures our team can deliver any style brides or wedding party members are looking for. We are also able to provide great ideas about trends they may not know about. Having a team of talented stylist ensures we can handle small or large parties.

One of the most important things that sets us apart from other beauty service providers is all of our stylists are licensed cosmetologists or aestheticians.

Wedding Hair and Makeup Advice: What can a bride who lives out of town do to make sure she ends up with a wedding day look she loves (assuming she can’t squeeze in a trial)?

We have many brides in town and out of town that choose not to have a trial. Pictures are the key for us in creating the look that a bride wants to achieve. With magazines and Pinterest there are so many great ways to pick the perfect hair and makeup looks. We ask that brides email us some pictures in advance so we can put them in their folder and their assigned stylist can have a reference.

Wedding Hair and Makeup Advice: What trends in hair do you see for the upcoming Fall wedding season?

For this fall I predict a lot of hair being worn down with curls. Brides are looking for that long sophisticated look with lots of shine so extensions will be a necessary option for many. For those brides wanting their hair up, unlike years past, the artful “messy updo” is on its way out. You’ll see very smooth and very put together updos, keeping with the romantic and sophisticated bride.

For hair accessories, longer veils with smaller hair accents are going to be a big hit. Also, I suggest that all my fall brides find a more fun and flirty hair piece for the reception, something with feathers.

Wedding Hair and Makeup Advice: What advice do you have for a bride who doesn’t wear makeup?

Makeup is a necessity in photos for your special day, especially nowadays with all the High Definition photography. Makeup does not have to consist of a heavy look- using the right techniques in contouring and highlighting someone’s face is the key. The goal is to bring out a bride’s best features and minimize the ones she may not like.

Do you have any services for grooms?

Absolutely. It’s more common for brides to get their makeup done, but men want to look just as good on their wedding day. We offer makeup services for grooms as well as tattoo cover ups. Airbrush makeup is the best for grooms as we can cover that stress pimple and give them an even complexion and they won’t feel like they have any makeup on.
