Wedding Trends: Fall & Winter 2014 Makeup Trends
categories: health and beauty, Meet Our Friends, Tips and Advice, Trends

It’s never too early to think about your wedding day beauty plan. In fact, if you’re getting married this Fall or Winter, hopefully you’ve started a good skin care regimen so you’re not using unfamiliar and potentially irritating products or treatments right before your wedding day.  The fun part comes in when you think about the specifics of bringing on the pretty- eye shadow, lip color, etc.

Makeup trends for real people (i.e., not supermodels or rockstars) ebb and flow rather than make huge dramatic shifts but it is possible to date yourself and sadly, be disappointed with your photos, if you’re wearing the wrong makeup. Today we’re chatting with the gals who know how to make their clients feel beautiful- Elite Circle makeup and beauty experts Corinna Cooke and Babydoll Weddings owner Sabrina Miller- for the lowdown on Fall and Winter makeup trends.

What are the makeup trends for Fall and Winter 2014 weddings?

-Metallic eye shadows are huge for Fall 2014. Stay away from silvers and greys – they can make the skin look cold and can enhance any under eye discoloration you may be wanting to disguise! Opt instead for universally flattering shades of bronze and soft champagne golds.

-Eyes are well defined for fall, and this season they are featuring lots of lashes.

-Skin is glowing for fall winter 2014, so get facials and keep your complexion both exfoliated and hydrated, and use a silicone based foundation such as Makeup Forever HD Foundation or Face Atelier Ultra Foundation to keep the skin looking alive and vibrant.

-Lip colors for fall 2014 to compliment your smokey bronze eye shadow include soft roses and bold corals, through bolder reds. Look at MAC shades Ruby Woo and Lady Danger for your bold tones or shades such as Hue or Myth for paler tones.

-Adventurous, more dramatic eyeliner with super soft checks and lips. The trend of having one dramatic makeup aspect was seen all over the recent London Autumn/Winter fashion shows. We love to use Makeup For Ever’s water proof liquid eyeliner for our brides. We apply it with a thin angled brush for precision.

-Pops of color. Keeping with the more dramatic, we expect to see many brides venture out of their comfort zone with pops of color. A pop of color does not always have to mean bright, a dark deep plum lip is just as eye catching, like OCC’s(Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics) Black Dahlia lip tar. We at Babydoll Weddings love to see winter brides with deep pink lips – it just makes the bride stand out so well and compliments her amazing white dress; try NYX Hot Pink Rose.

What about wedding day do’s and don’ts?

Corinna Cooke:

Make up do’s for your wedding day: make sure your skin is super hydrated before you put makeup on. Drink tons of water in the days leading up to your wedding, and that morning apply moisturizer liberally, giving it at least 30 minutes to soak in before you put on primer and foundation.

Makeup dont’s: Don’t use a lipstick shade that is paler than your own lip color – it will look chalky and unflattering to both your lips and your skin tone.

Also don’t use Bronzer as a contour product. Bronzer is designed to make your face look like it has been in the sun, and as such is reflective. It will also make your skin look muddy. Contour products are made up of black and grey and are designed to absorb light. Try Makeup Forever Sculpting Kit for a perfect contour.

Brides, you’re gonna be gorgeous on your wedding day and even more so thanks to Corinna and Sabrina- thank you ladies!
